For this recipe, you will need ... A snake, and a pinch of faith.

    • @thekingsdaughter4233
      @thekingsdaughter4233 5 ปีที่แล้ว +36

I was going to recommend about two scant cups of faith for this recipe, but then I remembered what the Master Recipe Book says how much can be done with faith the size of a mustard grain. ;-) Potent stuff, that. So a pinch should be fine after all! 👼

Actually St Hilda gave the snakes a Mrs Crocombe look of disapproval.
The serpents were so mortified their heads fell off and their bodies turned to stone.
Medusa's got nothing on our Mrs C!

Did anyone else get the music/lyrics to "Venus" by Banarama in their head at the start of this?
On Whitby's wild and windswept cliffs,
    Before the conqueror came,
There lived a dame of royal blood,
    And Hilda was her name
... da da da da da da She's got it, yeah baby she's got it...
    (Goddess on the mountain top
    Burning like a silver flame
The summit of beauty and love
    And Venus was her name)

St Hilda said to the local folks:
Oh, hello! You gave me such a fright! It would have been a disaster if I drop this snake. Snake is one of the grandest animal to serve and is very popular with families like Mr and Lady Braybrook. I have read the Queen eats it quite regularly.

These videos are great! And it’s a blessing that English Heritage have cast native British actors (or at least appearing) without feeling the need to ethnic up our indigenous history!

At first I was like, "Wait a minute... why are they using ammonites?" But then I realized what the professor was going to say - that the "snakes turned to stone" were ALWAYS ammonites, not some magical miracle.

I recognised professor Hutton’s voice from his work on the BBC’s _Historical Farm_ programmes before he even appeared on screen.
