Suggestion: 1. Get the truck as high as possible with jack stands under the frame. 2: Put a scissor jack under the differential, if your feeling fancy you can use two scissor jacks on the tube of the axel, each one just inside of each spring perche. 3: use the jack(s) to adjust the axel up and down until all the pressure is off of the shackles. 3: pull the shackle bolts This is my set up for doing work on any suspension on a solid axel. I use the jacks to move the axel up and down, and a little kick to move it back and forth. Ive never struggled to get things lined up when I set things up this way. Also junk yards end up with a boat load of scissor jacks out of junk cars, they usually sell for less than $5 each, I always keep a few lying around the garage for jobs like this.
I've seen lots of installs on this kit but never an explanation as to what benefit it provides. Does it look cool sure but what does it actually do for the truck that the stock hangers don't?
The kit will strengthen the rear end completely. The stock hangers are weak and will bend if you off road putting a twist in the leafs. The Hammer Hangers and the cross bar will make the rear feel more planted. Pair the kit with the long travel shock relocation rear and it will flex way more than the stock parts can do. Thanks for watching.
@@ClassyTacos it looks like you had stock shock mounts in this video? Did you find an improvement in droop/articulation even with the stock mounts (ie. Not having 12 or 14" shocks installed)?
@@bc.taco_ferno Your shocks will limit any flex. Adding the kit without going larger extended travel shocks will by almost useless for more flex. Thanks for watching.
@ClassyTacos I have Elka 2.0s and dobinson 111-r leafs, but I can't sort out what the fully extended shock length and leaf is. I know I need to get under the truck and jack it up to do some measurements, but hoping to get some first-hand experience/knowledge if possible. Love the videos by the way.
@@bc.taco_ferno I believe the shocks you’re running are 8 inch shocks. Just to start into the extended travel rear is a 12 inch shock and can to 14 16 inches. Acutune Offroad has some good info to read up on.
Appreciate it thank you. I'm still on the Old Man Emu heavy duty packs. They are known to make some noise, and they do. I cut about 2 inches off a leaf close to the hammer hanger and installed new pads. Not bad after that. Thanks for watching.
Hello! Great video. Did you find the ride quality was better after installing the hangers? That’s my main reason for being interested in this mod thanks!
It's super easy, I used a ratcheting box end wrench on the bolts. It will come right out. It is a little tight in there above the brace so the ratcheting wrench comes in clutch. Thanks for watching.
Spray them down with PB blaster for a couple days. Try to get some heat on them also. Something else I do when bolts are stuck, I'll try to tighten them a little and see if they will move, just a tiny bit. Sometimes that works for me.
Hey there. I was hoping to try and do this job on my own. I don’t have a rivet gun even if I did I wouldn’t have an air compressor. Would a cut off wheel and pushing out the river be enough to get the job done?
Ya for sure. After you have the stock bracket removed. It will expose about 1/8ish of an inch rivet material. Grind that with a flap disc till it's flush with the frame. Then use a punch to pop the rivet out. If you have a heavy hammer it will go easier.
Please any pointer on how to grease it because I tried to grease the hammer hanger after installation the grease was not going in with the grease gun .
Couple of things here, and not being a dick, just starting from the beginning. First make sure the grease gun is working properly and the grease is not super thick like oatmeal. It happens if the grease sits for a long time and also depends on if you normally have really cold temps in your area. Pop the top off the grease gun and look at it, run your finger in it. If it's super think and barely coming out of the hose, replace the tube. I just did this. As for the hangers, jack up the rear from the bumper, or hitch not the axle. loosen the shackle bolts a couple of turns and apply the grease while everything is loose and in the air. Once you are done lower the truck, stand on the bumper or the bed and bounce around a little to have it settle. After that, torque everything down once the truck is back on the ground under its own weight., Thanks for watching
Just tell me like im a 3 year old, what are these spring hangers for, what do they do. I sure would like to try some of these American modifications, as over here in the U.K. we have very poor selection. It seems like in the U.S. the sky is the limit when it comes to modifying vehicles. There is stuff available here, very limited choice, and it tends to be expensive verging on the rediculous. Nice video.
Thank you for the kind words. As for what they do, they accomplish several different things. First, they are much beefier and better built than the stock hangers which have been known to bend/warp. Ride quality is improved as the shackle is at a better position, it feels smoother than stock. The shackles themselves are greasable which is an improvement over stock and they have a better angle. The set allows for more droop which keeps the tire on the ground/obstacle longer improving off road traction. Of course there are other factors at play, shock limitations, stock break lines and short leafs. The overall package works well together as an improvement over stock on pavement and off road.
I have the standard shackles not the longer ones. Those are for spring under leafs. The Archive Garage site has a ton of good information. Thanks for watching.
It's an Outgear Solutions high clearance with the tilt. I have an install video for it in case you are interested in watching the process. Thanks for watching.

Hey Classy, thank you for the compliments on the Hammer hangers and the great install video, we'll send over a shirt!

Any lift high adding the hanger
What if I use stock leaf spring
Do I get 2” lift? Thanks
Check the Archive Garage site, but no, I don't think so. You might get under an inch or so. It's minimal.
That one was a fun project did this about 2 months ago.
Good times, all worth it in the end. Thanks for watching.
Love your videos man. What rear leaf packs are you running?

I felt as thou the rear end was more planted. It felt sturdier. The cross member is a must for the more planted feel.

Did the hangers lift the rear by any chance ?
I did not measure before and after. It looks the same to me. If it did, it’s a small amount.
Stay classy loving the videos!

Like I said. Be great to get this range of choice in the u.k. weve normally got little or no choice at all. Thanks
@Classys Garage does it really give u more droop with the same shock & leafs? Or do u need a different shock?

Not a single issue. I came back after a couple trail rides and check the torque, everything was spot on. Thanks for watching.
@@ClassyTacos did it smooth out the ride any? I have jitters in the rear when driving and especially while braking .
@@bengleckl1877 Yes, for me everything feels more secure and better planted. If that makes sense.
Does this add an additional lift?
I did not measure before and after so I can not say for sure. I can tell you that if it did, the amount was negligible as I did not notice any change.
👍🛠
Thank you.
That washer you put on the bolt that connects the shackle to the hanger is on the wrong side. It’s supposed to go on the nut side.
Nice catch. There is a washer on both sides, bolt head and nut side.
