why does no one respect HU anymore? I don't understand where all the negativity is coming from, one of the most influential HBCU in the country and no one gives it the respect it deserves, and I live in D.C. and Howard along with A&T and NSU have all inspired me
well it can come from Influence and The Image you give your institution. Some people get offended when There cadence's are borrowed and not played by with musical attribution. I have followed Howard Since 1987 and The Band has had its ups and downs with Recruting how ever Mr. Newsome would always be patient and build with his staff. Delaware State University has had its challenges as well however I wish all Hbcu Bands The Best of Success every School year.

Howard..... Come On Guys... I know a couple people that March for yall in the percussion section... I know you guys are WAYYY more skilled to be playing damn Paradiddles , Single Stroke 4's and Playing on 1 & 3.... I expected yall to come a lot harder
Nah, I just checked it out. This cadence (scandalous) was written by one of Howard's very own. The only portion I could hear was with the accented 16th pattern on the snare with the alternating cymbals sizzles and that's a pretty generic pattern. It could happen with anything, so I call it a coincidence, if anything. Listen to "Jack" by Southern's Funk Factory and then listen to "Jungle Beat" by Jackson State's War and Thunder. They both begin with a dotted eighth sixteenth figure followed by a quarter note and repeated on the tenor drum. It happens.
