I'm pretty sure the zerg on the way to Antioch were burrowed in the original game. Because I clearly remember playing Starcraft for the first time when I was 7 on my cousin's PC, seeing how cool the Protoss looked in the Campaign menu and trying this mission. Then seeing the zerg come out of the ground, getting scared shitless, instantly closing the PC, and then for a week having every dream turned into a nightmare because of zerg randomly bursting out of the ground.
Mandela Effect dude. I clearly remember watching Moonraker with mom and seeing the big jaws guy hook up with the blonde girl, because she had braces on her teeth they could kinda 'relate'. And i told my mom "look, they are the same" in the scene where they stand side by side and smile, and you see the metal braces on her teeth as well as the big guys fully metal teeth. Fast forward to today, watch the same movie, and that woman is 100% flawless with perfect white teeth and no braces what so ever in any scene of the entire movie, eliminating the entire purpose those two "fell in love" in the original movie. What do you make of that? Broken memory? Why would i have talked to my mom about them both having metal teeth and fitting together, if the girl didnt have them? Life man, life is weird.
Zealots do indeed attack with 2 quick "slices" or "stabs", whatever, but those two make a combined damage of 16. They do not multiply to 32 all of a sudden. ;)
Also: "One of them is Fenix." Yeah, totally not the one with the huge ass white border around his unit icon. Totally not that one, Lowko, keep looking. :P
@Armid Correct, that right-left combo is a single attack animation. Kind of similar to how the Terran Marine appears to be firing a constant rate of fire, but really, the attack animation of the first attack, ends right as the second attack animation begins so it appears as if he is firing a constant barrage of bullets.
@@spamfilter32 It wasn’t until SC2 that they started showing damage with number of attacks. Zealots in the sequel are listed doing 8 damage but also lists “number of attacks: 2”
@@erickchristensen746 unfortunately, the two attacks in sc2 are both lowered by target's defense. So if target has 1 armor, it will be 7 and 7, which is 14. But in sc1, it's 16-1=15. That's why zealots in sc2 are weaker.
The best part about Fenix is that he is very obviously the same voice actor as the Orcs from Warcraft 1 and 2 (Bill Roper - also one of the designers for all 3 games). I mean he did a fair bit of voice acting and was also Zasz and the Vultures and others, but Fenix just sounds like the Orcs, you know? I kinda wish one of his annoyed lines was "Blackhand has appointed YOU to an outpost in the SWAMPS of SORROOOWS"
Lowko. You played Legacy of the Void. Do you remember Fenix' first words? *Spoiler warning for everyone who did not play SC2 LotV* *"Artanis. It is good to see you, young Executor." "We were fighting side by side, blade by blade."* StarCraft 2 confirmed the identity of the old Episode III player character. :)
It has been on the Starcraft2 website "The Story so far - Part 2" around 2009. The thread is not there anymore, but the Starcraft wikis got that still as a quote.
Another Fun Fact: Dragoons are dumb because their stationary size is smaller than mobile size. That REALLY glitches the pathing AI (with all the chokepoints and so on) (edited with corrected size relation)
NetTrollStuff I think you have that backwards.... pretty sure they are smaller while stationary, then they get bigger when they move which causes the glitches. Day9 talked about it in his protoss unit video I think.
I don't understand why Blizzard could have just programmed it to have the same size all the time. I rather have the dragoons overlap with some cliffs than always be so dumb.
They could have, and it would have been easier. I don't know what they were attempting to do but they did it deliberately. It was probably an experiment that was deemed a failure and thus not repeated in sc2.
When I first started this campaign as a kid and I heard "En taro Adun, Executor" I was like "Is my starcraft in spanish?" and then... "I am Judicator Aldaris..." Also Lowko, all heroes have normal unit models but have a teal team color. The only exceptions are the two Kerrigan models (Terran is a ghost with a pony tail, Zerg does not look anything like an infested terran and is colored purple)
This is the first Starcraft campaign I have ever played. I still remember that time when I was very young, I saw my cousin played it and when he was not around I will always try to find the game to play. That is like my first RTS ever so at first I didn't even know how to move the unit. And then because I didn't know any English it took me 3 months or more to figure out how everything work (I kept losing and then play again). Good memory.
About damage, in starcraft 2, it is obvious whats is strong vs what with the tool tips. (like + 10 vs armor) In SC1, things are different, damage are lower vs wrong armor type. Concussive dmg hits less vs armor and building, Normal dmg (marine, zealot, zergling and other) hits the same minus the armor stats of the unis. Explosive dmg (dragoon, Goliath missiles, Tanks) hits strong vs armor but way less vs small unit. (dragoon doesnt hit 20 vs zerglings)
This information is too difficult for Lowko to understand unfortunately :D He never figured out how armor in WC3 worked and here you cant even read about ingame.
I clenched my buttcheecks when he sends fenix forth without looking how much damge he is getting.. Not the first time a mission would have to be restarted because of a dead hero ^^
btw 1st toss mission can be finished without producing any units and structures, and second mission can be done before the timer reaches 0:00 and fenix pops up :D
I'm pretty sure that even though the Zealot attack shows two attacks it is one animation so for damage purposes it is one attack. This would help explain why in SC1 they do 16 damage but in SC2 they do 8 per attack.
In SC2 but I thought in Sc1 it only counted as one attack... So without an upgrade or only attack upgrades it is the same, but in Sc2 Armor upgrades become 2x as effective vs Zealots (and other multiple attack units like vikings).
yes, and if you open the zealot in editor to mess up with stats it actually shows 8 damage, two attacks. Fun fact - it is actually same with firebat. Ingame it showscombined damageof a single animation
Playing the campaign myself, i came up with an idea: since the game evolved alot since 2010, why not do a complete run through the story and play through the sc2 campaign after this? Would be really fun to see you take on WoL again
The reason that one Dragoon kept derpping around is because one of the other Dragoons in the group had parked itself in the spot where that one set as it's destination. As a result it kept trying to path to a occupied spot and so it just kept wandering all over the place to find a path that would work, which will never happen (until you move the army group again).
During the Wings of Liberty campaign, you get a few protoss levels. I completed those, including bonus objectives, without knowing that probes don't need to stay close to construct buidlings.
Zealots are monsters in broodwar because the general dps of the whole game is lower and despite hitting twice their attack only hits against armor once as far as I know. Gateway units in general are quite strong because those are really the only main army units you have. Everything else is more of a support unit. Just keep in mind that your units can be taken down if your not careful and they take a while to replace.
Try making a control group follow another control group. That way you can move a whole army with a couple of clicks. When they arrive to their destination, you can make the attack move.
The double slice of Zealots is not 2x16 damage but just 16 damage. The Photon Cannon went from 100 shield to 86 with a small time to regenerate when Lowko clicked it.
They like to live the high life. "Screw it we'll just buy a brand new one. It's not expensive at all. What's that? Zerg and Terran Economy is better than ours? But our units are more powerful and got shields. Expensive is always better."
Protoss are the Apple users of StarCraft. They don't repair stuff, they just keep buying the newest fancy hi-tech shining and more expensive Macintoss model.
Waaay back when I was playing the campaign I got very disappointed realizing Protoss can not repair their stuff. But I got over it pretty fast and enjoyed this shit. :D

Hell yeah xD It's just funny EVERY time a youtuber / streamer says "we need to build defences", they build like 1-3 turrets. It's so clear who's got turtle experience and who doesnt xD Its like, imagine building 3 dragoons (or archons) and saying "thats enough right, taht will deal with any army" No, you need more. =) Now, in a game like Starcraft, yeah its too fast paced and in e-sports the whole "efficency" matters with spent minerals since its finite. But in games like Age of Empires where there is trading, a marketplace and thus essentially infinite resources (especially since Stone isnt used for army units), its astonishing how many players neglect to build defences. It can literally be the difference between life and death against an entire full supply army attacking you. For no penalty to your army economy, since that Stone isnt used for anything else..
Zealot attack twice in one move. So typical zealot gives 32 damege in melle atack (minus armor). So Fenix gives 80 dmg per move :) Please read about type of atacks in sc1 :)
24:44 Yay, turns out that all along we have been playing as a Play-Doh caterpillar crapping goo. Even the Brain Bug from _'Starship Troopers'_ is prettier than that turd

I remember playing this game when I was eight years old, I wasn't paying attention and got wiped out by the zerg, on the first protoss mission, the A.I. does not play around.
At that point you covered 2 campaigns the game devs already expected that you would at least set some back up defenses just incase. not 10% effort.
All the hero units have a white outline around their portrait when you select your units its easier to find them that way

Lowko Fenix in sc2 is a robot recreated in fenix' name
They were in your base, killing your doods.
9:46
now we know why Fenix kept losing probes
to be fair, i like the mineral and geyser placement better in the sc1 maps than in sc2 in case of the campaign maps. it looks more natural. there is no reason why minerals and geysers always grown in the same pattern for ease of access on all worlds. i get why its done in the multiplayer maps
Oh the Fenix feels here. :)
He-he, even though Lowko doesn't want to mess around with shield batteries in SC1, he will probably soon has to face them in SC2 disguised as a "shield nexus"... What an irony!
Love this series
Protoss voice actors have always been so badass.
"Is this what we looked like?"
My personal believe is, that this IS the player cerebrate from the Zerg campaign. Of course everything non-confirmed and all, but the player got sent to invade Aiur, and it would be quite the Blizzard way of story telling.
Never thought of that, but you´re probably right!
Probably not. That's clearly a different brood that the one the player had (it's the Baelrog brood; the player controlled a specialized branch of the Jormungand).
slugs, snails... lowko's reaction ...priceless :D
Fenix has white frame when selected tho.
Also, seems that lowko don’t really like expanding to new locations in scbw?
He's not in Brood War yet.
Arne Henkler ugh.
That’s why I say sc1 no matter what.
My point still stands.
4:30 Lowko continuing to not skip tutorials.
22:34 ... puppy dog tails?
If you add about 3-4 Dragoons on the upper ground (or wall?) you will be fine and the drops will be dealt with.
I always found it hilarious how there are hostile Spore Crawlers in the first Protoss mission :)
honestly the protoss missions just makes me wish that they did more with the Tal'darim...
good that they didnt remaster the independent spirit of the Dragoons.
I always thought is as a balance thing.
the executor in the first protos campaign is artanis
It was Artanis, the Executor you play. Brood War's executor is unknown...
I thought I saw somewhere that the Brood War Executor was Selendis?
would be great@@gershsgaming8673
hi lowko the gateway "window" should change color..
Aldaris sounds like Uncle Ben from Ben 10 and Colonel Campbell from Metal Gear. I forget the name of the VA
Wait until you get to mission where you start with Tassadar and 2 zealots. Brutal mission that needs a lot of thought
when you select multiple units in which is your hero, your hero will be in a white square
Be kind, Lowko, dragoons are good boys who are just trying their best
THE TIME HAS COME MY TEMPLAR BRETHREN !!!!! FIGHT FOR YOUR HOME WORLD! EN TARO ADUN!
Lowko you should make more probes...
hey lowko are you planing to do the starcraft 2 campaign after this? =)
I get why Lowko doesn't set the drones to the mineral patch, but why doesn't he set SCVs or Probes to the mineral patch?
You mean rally points? They don't work on minerals/geysers like in SC2
Fenix in sc2 is a ki with the knowlegde of sc1 fenix
You're a strong, independent Executor, an dylu don't need no Judicator telling you what to do.
Fenix is unkillable because he always comes back to life.
I remember playing this game as a kid but sadly it was really hard to micro on Nintendo 64. Lmao yes I played starcraft on n64
Blizzard always had the best voice acting. Protoss are so metal
Lowko I so hope they turn you into an in game announcer
If you build a cannon near where your forge was they abandon mineral zerg drops atleast that how ot tured out my play thorough.
I remember the start of the protoss campaigns was pretty boring, but gets good. In both SC and BW the zerg campaign were my favorites. The terran ones I always found lackluster.
Edit: actually BW UED campaign wasn't too bad i think.
if you upgrade dragoon to 3/3/3 is strong equal to photon cannon :D :D like a moving army of photon cannons :D :D
Still, after all those years, even after SC2 campaign storyline, I don't get it why Overmind is called 'a priori' a "sinister".
pls do wings of liberty and heart of the swarm and legacy of the void
This new executor is Artanis, right ???
They're independent dragoons that don't need no Executor telling them how to move!
Every time the announcer says "not enough minerals", it's so quiet that it sounds like "knock knock" to me.
Fun fact: dragoons are always as intelligent as their commander.
Yours sincerely, Trollgoon 22:12
Second map your supposed to defend your base while using felix's group to kill cerebrate so no you were not supposed to push that far when the map was designed lol.
I HAVE RETURNED
"make juice of me"
Gotta defend that Anti-ogg.
You want to see dragoon micro? Look up Tempest vs Light!
finnaaaaallllyyyyyyy!!!!!protossss!:)
I thought it was gonna be titled meet fenix dammit lowko u missed the chance!
8:00 Lowko: We will place 1 cannon here, so that should keep us pretty safe.
Me, a lifelong turtler in all RTS games: Lol 1 cannon is nothing. Build 10 then call me back.
As a kid i think i literally built cannons along the entire upper walls around this base xD
Useless for such a short mission? Yes. Effective defence? Hell yeah xD
It's just funny EVERY time a youtuber / streamer says "we need to build defences", they build like 1-3 turrets.
It's so clear who's got turtle experience and who doesnt xD
Its like, imagine building 3 dragoons (or archons) and saying "thats enough right, taht will deal with any army"
No, you need more. =)
Now, in a game like Starcraft, yeah its too fast paced and in e-sports the whole "efficency" matters with spent minerals since its finite.
Did his dad or mom play Starcraft?
Zealot attack twice in one move. So typical zealot gives 32 damege in melle atack (minus armor). So Fenix gives 80 dmg per move :) Please read about type of atacks in sc1 :)
You should spam more to get the goons to move better
24:44 Yay, turns out that all along we have been playing as a Play-Doh caterpillar crapping goo. Even the Brain Bug from _'Starship Troopers'_ is prettier than that turd
