I love jump pad, a quick slide right before jumping gives you a boost. This + angled ground such as rooftops + bhop makes you travel 50% of the map within a single jump. Also placing a jump pad below you + jump right after a map jump pad (like in vegas or the maps with angled jump pads) or after a jumped zipline makes you travel very far away. Not really usable in fight like light's hook, but for team repositionning it's really amazing.
i’ve been having that superglide thing that he was talking about at the end of the video happen to me a lot recently especially in the past couple days and it’s literally given me such massive advantages hopefully someone can find a way to do it consistently
i accidentally pulled it off in one of my matches yesterday. seems like it has something to do with clipping a wall when mantling, the game doesn't know where to place you so it just shoots you forward
I always forget the old term "trimping" and resorted to calling it "geo boosting" over the past couple yrs. Also I assumed you couldn't jump on frame 1 for bhops- but it seems moreso that I'm just managing my fatigue more carefully without consciously realizing it. Awesome video thank you for sharing.
great vid man, love how well you can fit alot of infomation into a short video. also like how similar your videos are to MokeySniper's, hope to see a possible colab in the future, that would be sick.
I'd like to see a mod where your weight affects your momentum/acceleration like in racing games. Like in Mario Kart, Bowser speeds up more slowly, but gains more momentum on turns and what not.
Yeah that would be sick actually, like heavy so fat that you can't slow his momentum and even if once he had reached a certain speed he just bull dozers through every wall simply by colliding with it haha
would be cool to see if the game added cool little buff for each class when u hit a center speed. sum like light class being able to wall jump once or the heavy class being able to destroy walls without using the ability
I found one more small (and as of yet) pretty useless tech for the jump pad. @ 2:58 you can place the jump pad on the floor as close to the wall as you can, touch the jump pad and mantle and when you reach the top of your mantle you'll super jump. It's a bit inconsistant, but interesting none the less, great video btw!
Oh ok sick, I might fuck around with it at some point, I tried to many things that made the jump pads kind of buggy and shit, like doing the mantle pad thing straight into a zipline and it made my character shake left and right like crazy haha some of the strangest interaction in this game
bhopping in tandom with the grapple and sword is an incredible synergy, and can help you close very large gaps super quick. Is it way too much effort for a little reward? yes.
Haha sick, I was actually going to fuck around with the sword lastnight cause I've never tried it but ended up buying the dagger which I've also never tried, dagger was pretty disappointing, just felt sluggish
@@NineLives9I made a video over the dagger and came to the same conclusion during the beta. Each class takes such a large sum of hits to take down if you don’t get the backstab instant kill. It takes 3 for the light, 5 for the medium and 7 for heavies and heavies survive the backstab with about 10-20 hp left. This coupled with the fact that you have such a small hp pool and have access to much more damaging weapons places it in the worst weapon in the game from my perspective. Regardless, it’s one of my favorite weapons to use because I’m a goblin.
@@Johnnjlee yeah 100% dude, i would've been fine using it with it being under powered, but the time it takes to actual do the backstab is so long, i wanted to like bhop past people and backstab them as i went past, like spy in TF2, its a cool weapon, hopefully it gets some needed changes that make it more fluid to use

also one thing u didnt include if u stand on an explosive canister and shoot the nozzle off u can ride for a bit it works ok if u use it to reposition off suspended structures
I wouldn't call what you described as trimping, trimping. Gaining extra height from jumping on a sloped surface has a different name, I know it's in Fortress Forever and it might also be in Quake 2. It could be called ramp jumping or "double" jumping from those two games. Usually trimping happens when you're going so fast that when you hit a shallow ramp you're gliding up it even though your feet are on the ramp, kinda like surfing in a way.
I'm not sure man, maybe it has different meaning in different games, but this is what I know has always been referred to as trimping. I just did a quick search seems the name trimping might have originated in TF2 as demoman where you would hit a ramp with speed and be flung into the air. But I can't say for certain, either way it's fun to do haha
@@NineLives9 Yeah it really is hard to pinpoint, a little after I posted that comment I went to go double check myself haha. @@Altraly oh yeah 100% too many games these days lack skill expression, the Devs don't want higher skilled players styling on the noobs cause it's bad for their sales, which I understand but skill ceilings in shooter games have gotten lower and lower over the years while the skill floors have gotten higher. yeah before I started maining the grapple i was only using dash, so I've encountered that tech, it is super fun, i want to test out some more stuff with it, like horizonal pads with the mantle trick into a dash
Off topic for this video but when your aiming with the mouse do your fingers touch the mousepad? After doing some testing I am thinking a factor involved in some of the inconsistencies I am having with my aim are due to friction from my fingers on the mousepad. I have heard conflicting advice regarding whether the added friction of fingers on the mousepad is beneficial or not so I am wondering your thoughts. I know I can definitely feel a bigger difference in the surfaces on my mousepads without the extra friction.
Yeah my fingers touch my pad, the side of my thumb, and the tips of my pinkie and ring finger all touch, but I use a very gentle grip and don't push down on my mouse at all, I also play on a glass mouse pad so the friction is obviously very low, I think having your fingers rub on the pad can give good stopping power in some situations but you want that friction to be consistent, so maybe just take note of your grip and how much force you are putting into your mousepad
@@NineLives9 Thank you for the response! I am gonna play without my fingers touching the pad for a while and see how it feels. There are certainly benefits and drawbacks to either side but the extra friction may have been more inconsistent for my particular style. Great job on the recent videos!
I have my ring and pinky fingers DUG into my xsoft otsu and have found that a variable pressure is the best way to play like this. Tracking is rather awkward otherwise, so I basically lessen the pressure on my fingers and lift my mouse mostly off of the pad when tracking. 2mm LOD. @@matthewtas
also to add on, the texture of your mousepad will greatly affect your experience. with my otsu, its a pretty soft texture so its easier to track, but with something like an MPC450 cordura, the texture is extremely rough and makes tracking harder, but it's also insanely easy to hit one frames and the like
btw the superglide is probably because they copied some of the movement from battlefield, try to flick ur mouse it works by making your legs clip into the wall so flicking the mouse makes you go faster
Oh right, I recently made a guide on hitting consistent superglides actually. I noticed it's much easier on heavy, probably due to the size of his hotbox clipping into the wall

idk if you have seen it around but you can actually zipline super jump by using the quick pull that occurs when attaching to a zip line late. when attaching a zip line it dosen't immediately lock you to the line so by jumping during the correction that the game trys to impliment on your character can result in some jumps that are a little higher then usual. This Idea is from a video done by Monkey sniper, and while nerfed from the beta when he first discoverd it. I have still found it useful when jumping off a zip to get a little extra hight at the end.
yeah but its very weird, not like apex, it requires you to like push against the wall as you are mounting and its super hard to do consistently, still not even sure there is a way to replicate it everytime
