Orbs, Joris. The word you're looking for is "orbs." And if you want huge, magical bokeh orbs in your photos, buy yourself a Lensbaby. You can thank me later. For the most bokehlicious Lensbabies of the whole Lensbaby line, go for the Soft Focus optic (in the optic swap system) or the Velvet.

This was BALLsy. 😬 But seriously, I used Christmas lights as well and it's incredible how much of an effect it had on my B-Roll. It looks so good. Thanks for the inspiration! 🤩
Great vid! Nice and short and to the point. **chef's kiss** I tried to figure out what settings would do this before you said and I was right (wide aperture, long focal length) but I hadn't thought of distance to subject and distance to background. So, thank you so much. Even when I think I know what you will talk about, I'm glad there is almost always something more. Btw, do you have any advice on selecting a subject for the commercial contest? I'm trying to keep it small and simple, but I'm having trouble picking something and running with it.
I prefer 'BALLS' but the scientific name is "Circles of Confusion". Sat in the library for over 3 evenings over forty years agoreading a book just titled Circles of Confusion. No more thanks to the Tinternet.
you forgot how to get bokeh balls in the front. have the lights close to the camera lens and subject far away gives a similar effect but with the lights in front of the camera.
Do you know that there's a trick to change the shape of your bokehballs. Simply open as wide as you can your diaphragm and put the objective in manual focus. a 1.8 by 50 mm will do it great. After, on a piece of black paper, simply cut the chape that you want to give to the bokehballs ( it must fit in between the objective and the body of your camera). Take picture after few trials you will be able to say: Tadaaa!
I apologize for the first minute of this video... NOT! 😅👊🏻💥
😂😂😂😂😂
Bokeh flare btw
Hee enjoyed with learned😁😁😁
BIG BOKEH BALLLLLLSSSS!!!

I drank few bud lights while watching this. The first 50 seconds got me bit excited
Christmas is the best season for bokeh
Airy discs? Circles of confusion? Specular highlights?
If you have a square aperture do you get bokeh cubes?
Yup!

Thank you, this video might help many who have complex with having not big enough "circles"! I enjoy the video!
Thank you for pronouncing BOKEH correctly. So many professional photographers can't pronounce it right.
Hahahah - hey, we’re all adults here. ✌️❤️
😅 Apparently TH-cam is OK with it too 💥
Ayy believe it, I'm outdoors filming 🥰
The scientific term is Toneh.
😅 Right!
how do you get this effect without a subject? So if I just wanted circles for city lights etc.
Just manual focus to minimum distance (out of focus).
Great video as always my friend

Ok, but how do you get balls with water drops in nature?
If Kai W can say it as he does in about every video of his, don't worry about it.
But he as that incredibly smooth accent 😄💥
