There is a removable fill plug, half inch diameter with a 1/4” hex right next to the vent tube that can be clearly seen at 1:22. I used a vacuum pump to drain the old oil, then filled it to about an inch below the vent tube level

I have same mower, and the axial is leaking on sides, for 5 yrs now. I knew transaxle was going to have to be either fixed or replaced. There are other videos where people are replacing end seals, then drilling hole in top or finding a breather cap for oil input. Your video is great, thanks for taking time to show this!!

Yes! Waiting on seals and there’s NO fill hole! Thanks:)

I have that same transaxle in my cub and I'm trying to take out that fill plug, but it's so very tight, and I really don't want to strip out the allen head. I think I'll try this method; my Cub is a 2011 SLTX 1054. I wanted to suck out the old oil and flush it with new, but If i can't get that fill plug out, my next best option is filling it like you did

I read your comment. I have same model and problem as you. I was wondering how you made out ?

@@romanmurray9489 I took the fill nut out on top of the axle, and bought a suction gun from hardware store and sucked out as much of the bad oil as i could and replaced it with Mobil 1 Synthetic 20w-50. I've done this several times mainly after mowing as the oil is warm and easier to suck out from the top. I had a real hard time busting that top fill nut loose I had to get a pry bar. I know I'm not getting all the oil out with my method, but the mower is moving much better.

How did you drain the oil out?

I have the grey tank and black cap but there is no black tube coming out of it . I know my mowere is making a noise at the back tires but not sure what it is . I greased the ports on the tires but it continues and mower is running slower than it should . I did not know that was even there until I had to change the drive belt . Nothing in my parts list about it or diagram about the mower which I used to make sure I put the drive belt back on right

Gasket/ o-ring, or seal leaks would be the reason for having to add more fluid.. not because you treat it hard

I'm not sure if you will see this but I'm having a similar issue.. my Trans doesn't like to work when it has been driven for about 15 mins or so, I put a new drive belt on and the fluid looks to be good (not burnt or dirty), just seems to lose momentum after the 15 mins of run time. Any help is appreciated!! New sub here! Great videos.

I have the same issue. Have you figured it out yet?

Progress report. I changed the fluid twice now and it seems to be running like new. There is a plug at the top of the transaxle and I used a transfer pumps to remove the old oil.
