In the Philippines Rice is fortified with Iron and B Vitamins that their population widely lacks, and washing it actually can reduce its Nutritional Value. It's more complex than you might think.
It won't take 18 mins, you just measure 1.5 times water to rice, start by washing the rice until water runs clear, put together the water and rice along with a pinch of salt, let it come to a boil on high heat, let boil for 1 min, slow the heat down to low, let it simmer for 10 mins (approx), then turn off the heat let it rest for 5 mins and TADAAA, IT'S DONE!!!!! ,
For a fluffy rice: add olive oil and some garlic to a medium pan; sauté 1 cup of jasmine rice until it turns white , add salt and add 1 1/2 cups of hot water for jasmine rice and 2 cups of water for basmati . Cover the pan and as soon as it starts boiling turn off the heat and let it sit until it’s ready. This process is for glass cooking top. Natasha you’re the best! Thank you for all you do ❤

Rice specially Texan has the most Arsenic and is inevitable to remove the arsenic from rice unless you wash it carefully Most of the minerals are lost but you stay safe
For some rice the ratio isn't 2 to 1 so you might have to play with the amount of water. The last rice I bought I ended up using 1.75 cups of water even tho the packaging said 2 to 1.

Natasha, I noticed you didn't wash the rice. Can you tell me what the difference is between washing and not washing the rice? Everyone seems to have their own opinion on this and I would like your input on this subject. Thank you and I love your recipes.
I love everything you cook Natasha! I will let you in on a little Asian secret from my mom's home country: the Philippines 🇵🇭. When you have your rice in the pot, and level out the rice. Touch the top of the rice with the tip of your middle finger. slowly add water being careful not to disturb the rice too much. when the water line reaches the first line of your finger, you will have the perfect amount of water! My lola (grandma in filipino) says that this trick works whether you have 2 cups of rice or 2 gallons of rice, and I have tested it and know that it works! You never know when you're gonna be stranded on an island without a measuring cup 😉 give it a try sometime!

First wash until clear , then boil for 5 mins. REMOVE wash again . ADD salt ,Olive oil and butter but on low eat and add rice . Place a dish cloth over the pan and put the Lid on . COOK approx 20-30 mins . The bottom should have a Golden crust . It try and error depending on yr gas/ electric hob output. Persians cook the best rice -;) Paul UK
To my taste, that's a bit overcooked. I like the rice grains to be separate from one another at the end. For that, I usually put a bit less than 2 cups of water for a cup or rice or partially uncover the pot while cooking for more evaporation 😊
The best way is to rinse basmati rice until clear then soak with salt water at least two hours Then bring new water to boil and cook the strained rice until you see the the rice has grown long Then strain and add oil and butter with a small amount of water Let steam on high flame then cover the lid with kitchen tissue and let it simmer for 45 minutes The best rice is made in Iran, India, pakistan and Afganistan though
Always wash the rice… make rice the south asian way… we use ghee and some whole spices like clove cardamom bay leaf and sometimes onion too with cumin then washed rice …
Asians have no trouble cooking rice. We can even do it blindfolded. Most westerners like Americans, I just don't get it. Why most struggle how to cook rice. 😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I have no idea why Americans/Europeans don't use the secret to make fluffy and not sticky rice: one or two tablespoon of any oil you have (better to use one without flavor). You don't even need to wash the rice and you can use less water than normal. The grains literally do not sticky to each other, it's like individual grains. Sometimes you even have to eat with a spoon instead of a fork because they all fall lmao. Also, we add salt where I live.
Don’t try this. In box rice it’s 1 cup water, 1 cup rice. All I had was uncleaned rice. I did this method. She says to bring it to a boil uncovered while she covers it. 🤦♂️ my 3 year old loves rice. I work 12 hours during the day. I tried making her favorite meal. Taco meat & rice after watching this video. Step by step. Ruined the rice. Way too much water & my daughters birthday dinner. Terrible, way of cooking rice. I got nothing but mush
Hi Benjamin. I’m so sorry to hear that. I did specify the instructions correctly in the video and I have the recipe link in the description. The type of rice you use also plays a huge part. If you use a different rice than recommended, the water/rice ratio is not the same.
