GnR are the definition of 'rock stars'. Singer = Axl Rose. An incredible singer, though he lost his wasy for a while. Guitar = Slash. Literal guitar god.
Bang on about it being about the city / concrete jungle. Though not just any concrete jungle, but specifically people going to LA to chase their dreams and ending up being chewed up and spat our by the lifestyle.
Incredible band. Keep listening. You'll love it

The guy in the top hat is revered as one of the best guitarists of all time, SLASH first came to fame as one fifth of Guns N' Roses, where he created the timeless guitar riffs to #1 hits “Sweet Child o' Mine” and “Welcome To The Jungle,” amongst others. (These are not my words, google said it) - So you realize that you have to listen to “Sweet Child o' Mine” next. You maybe know their song "You Could Be Mine" - it was on the soundtrack for Terminator 2: Judgement day. 😄 love your channel 💙

I'm a HUGE fan of GnR, but come on, Slash is not revered as one of the best of all time. Eddie Van Halen in the grave would play circles around Slash as would many others. Rolling Stone doesn't even put Slash in the Top 100 of all time.
Axl on the other hand has a higher vocal range than virtually every big name singer including people like Mariah Carey.
      Cheers!

Ps the Rolling stone list was horrific, they had George Harrison above Stevie ray Vaughan and Dave gilmour in the original top 100. Then in the revised top 250 list, they had Pj Harvey and Jack white well above Joe Satriani and Mark knopfler lol

Axel Rose, one of the BEST frontmen of ALL TIME. He paid a high price but, man he was something to see.
Slash is the guitarist in the top hat and he SLAYED every single time he picked up a guitar ! A maestro in the truest sense of the world.
God I LOVED growing up in the 80's and 90's. We had the greatest time and the bands of our youth were epic.

Guns N' Roses came up in the "hair band/metal" era, but were cooler and harder than some of those bands. I still remember the first time I saw this video, in my Dad's living room (no cable TV at mom's house where I lived) and just being mesmerized. Like, "WHO is this?!" 1987, MTV. Lead singer Axl Rose didn't really "poof" his hair up after this video, thank God! Guitarist Slash in his top hat is the coolest. They rock so hard in their concert montage video for "Paradise City" and are at Wembley!

Axl Rose - Singer - one of the most iconic frontmen ever.....Split opinion right down the middle - you either love him or hate him but the guy was a hell of a performer.
The guy in the top hat is Slash - probably one of the most iconic guitarists ever.
Slash and Axl were known as the toxic twins at one point...along with the rest of the band they epitomised rock and roll decadence.
Welcome to the Jungle is the intro track from the debut Album - Appetite for Destruction - one of the biggest selling debut albums ever iirc.
People either love or hate Guns and Roses. I saw them live at 16 years old at Wembley Stadium August 1991 - 80000 people and it was amazing.
The band went on to do another 2 albums, Lies and Use your Illusions 1 and 2 (a double album released at the same time)....after which they split where all the members went their seperate ways while Axl continued Guns and Roses with various other drummers, bassists and guitarists. They just werent the same. Axl became a recluse at one point and I believe underwent a lot of therapy for a lot of childhood trauma (he was known for being violent, outspoken and explosive personality caused by the childhood traumas).
A few yrs ago they reformed with virtually the whole band (bar the drummer who was originally sacked for drug abuse/addiction - though the whole band were drug addicts at one point - especially Slash who was also a very heavy drinker). Now they are all clean
The reincarnation isnt as good - Axls voice cant handle the grit anymore and even though their performances are polished and professional they just dont sound the same...His voice which spilt many peoples opinions though smoother just doesnt now fit the songs as they were originally performed and its lost itsedge
However GNR defined what true rock and roll was in the late 80's and early 90's especially Axl and Slash

The album that FINALLY knocked Boston off the best selling debut album (2 decades for that to happen, though in my heart, the local boys from New England are still a tick ahead in impact and timelessness). When this hit, rock n roll returned and glam metal started to fade. This song almost never made it on MTV. You should consider listening to the whole album. "Appetite For Destruction". It was their debut album. This was their first single, and it blew our minds, and ear drums. There's not a bad song on it.

They came out with this song in 1987 when I was 15. They saved Heavy Metal, along with Aerosmith in the 90's. The next song you should listen to from them is "Paradise City."

If you liked G&R, you’ll probably enjoy listening to Van Halen and Aerosmith from around that same era (late 80’s?)… Similar to G&R in many ways. Other G&R songs I’ve always loved would be “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door”, “Paradise City” and “Sweet Child of Mine”.

It's the bridge yo. "when you're high you never ever wanna come down" . Most excellent bridge spitting true facts. Should be right up the alley of a "British rap fan" who has something to say about Muppets. Come on Teddy, give me some love. (I just watched a documentary about the disparaging things Brits and Yanks say about each other). Just playing, jealous because you have 200 more subscribers than me.
