He is very action oriented type of a person. He don't think he just DOES and most of the time what drives him is to help the people in need. It's the goodness and emotions in him which he shows by action, i really appreciate him and love him so much.

I had a buddy who had only watched up to Zoro versus Mihawk and decided the show wouldn’t get better. So I turned on English dubs while he was in the room and watched this arc so he could hear it. He’s now currently up-to-date with the whole show!
Its a show that under the surface has many real aspects and issues of human life but presented in a goofy way. It has layers and layers to it . Onepiece couldve been presented in a really dark manner but oda portrays the positive aspects through luffy .
When I was 8 years old, I used to explore the neighborhood on my bike and make maps of all the streets to plan outings when my cousins came to visit. I would also make maps of the backyard to play treasure hunting with them. So I identify a lot with lil Nami 😅
Just a little bit of context for this episode, and also for the rest of this series moving forward, if I'm not mistaken Berries are roughly equivalent to Yen, the primary Japanese currency. The rough exchange rate from JP to US is about 1 Yen = 1 Cent, plus or minus about 20% depending on the direction and time (b/c this episode came out either in or around the year 2000). And so, in this episode Arlong was extorting all the people in the village, and eventually the island, for about $1,000 per adult and $500 per child, and made out with about $250,000 before noticing Nami's house. With inflation since 2000, you can almost double that amount in today's money (It's closer to $1,800 than $2k per adult, but roughly doubling is close enough for a rough estimate to just get an idea).
Love your reactions: So authentic and empathetic! Also, I really appreciate all of you guys' ability to recognize layers and nuances in the plot and characters. All of this makes for a very pleasurable discussion :)
