This is the most gorgeous, engaging and exciting reading of "The Silmarillion for Dummies" that I've ever heard. I love reading The Hobbit. I really like reading The Lord of the Rings. I somewhat enjoy reading parts of The Silmarillion, but as a whole it's an absolute slog getting through that book...and I kind of hate myself for saying so. But this channel...🥰🥰🥰tells it in the most understandable and gorgeous way and I cannot thank you enough for breathing the love and life into it that most of us need. (let's be honest, most people are like me and have a really hard time getting into and enjoying The Silmarillion like we should!)

In Tolkien's astrology, the positions and movements of the constellations in the sky allow for predictions about the future. Gil-Estel, as a star, affects the future with his positions relative to these constellations. This reminds me of the interaction between the song of the Ainur and the song of the Children of Ilúvatar, which is added to the music by Eru in the Music of the Ainur.
This is such an amazing retelling of some of the best stories ever wrought from the mind of a mere mortal, Tolkien. Well spoken, beautiful and a rare stunning epic so few could imagine!

Maybe this is a niche complaint but so many LOTR channels on this hellsite go out of their way to pronounce the more complicated names/words and they put on almost an elvish accent. It's so jarring to me when they do that and this channel is a breath of fresh air! You pronounce everything correctly without making it too show-y
Very curious... this little excerpt about Venus. I'm not sure how many people know... but If you trace Venus in the sky as it runs through it's orbit, you would outline 2 wings... or horns surrounding the disk of the sun - which is where the Vikings got their horns... and also how winged disks entered our collective consciousness - very much like the Snitch of Harry Potter fame. The timing is off now, but it is said that it took 7 years for Venus to complete it's orbit... and that is where we get that 7 is a heavenly number... why our lives are divided by 7's... (7 years of childhood, 7 years of adolescence, 7 years of adulthood - so that at age 21 you become a full grown man or woman). Only God could set things up so that the only whole digit number which is NOT divisible into 360 (degrees of a circle/orbit) is the number by which we tend to track our progress through life. Much of this sort of wisdom (if wisdom it is) has been lost. It's so very touching to hear these stories from JRRT so eloquently shared and then come to realize the inspiration for them, at least in part, has been the very similar for so many of us on this Earth. Writing stories in the stars or from the stars ensures that all people have equal access to them as we gaze upon the clear night sky. Thank you for uploading these... so very much.
How do you do the voice in your videos? I love it, but I remember it being different. Is it a hired narrator? Is it you? I like both voices, but I was under the assumption this channel was run by one person yet, there is a lot of art and the narrator's voice changed drastically. I would not be surprised if whoever runs this channel pays for narration or art commissions or both. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that! These videos are amazing and are a perfect way to dive into Tolkien's world. I am but a curious fan, wishing to know more about the process.
I think Ungoliant would have been the only evil-one who might be able to undone totally the power of Silmarills, although yet at the same might be her end bursting out in a vicious-gory way after the effect of their light power getting very even matching her and well killing her in a self-destructive, posioning and overflowing with power that she couldn´t turn into absolute darkness and unlight as before. However the Silmarill might be getting also very tainted and disminished in power if surviving their ingestion by her. After all, she was able to ruin draining out and corrupting too both the Trees and more importantly the Sacred Spring-Fountain of Varda nearby to them, and well thus she was able to undone and totally neutralize Varda´s power i.e. Illuvatar´s power shared to her exclusively which Melkor both feared and envyied her above all. So she was in another level of power than Morgoth himself and so could have made a serious threat on diminishing and corrupting the Silmarils power yet maybe not unable to utterly undone them on the same level as she did with the Trees and the Spring-Fountain, as well they were something as diamond-jewell but harder-casket builded by Feanor´s worshipp and thus... perhaps then all her power would be unable to fully made such a total dammage to them than before she got destroyed by all that power but still able to lessen it after it.
I love the subject matter, and your naration. However, The music is too loud in comparison with the narration, and is in itself quite distracting, what with all that swelling and sweeping. I sadly couldn't finfish the video because it was all too overwhelming. Maybe for a next video, you could tweak the music a bit.
Technically Elrond and Elros are not half elves. They have one man grandfather but their father was half elf who married a full elf. Just saying. They should be 75% Eldar.

The point is Tolkien's inspiration from Tolkien himself was to describe myth of Elwing carrying the Silmaril as a great white bird and landing the the ship with Eärendil. Then later Eärendil becoming something like that of Venus. Tolkien liked to think the lore was some past mythology that actually existed and is part of our own world, that we're in the 7th age... in later writings. Tolkien did not outwardly say in the the various books that the Star of Eärendil also called Gil-Estel, the Star of High Hope, was exactly like that of our Venus, the "morning star" or "evenstar or evening star", but it illudes to it. Even the quote in the video from one of Tolkien's letters himself explains where he came up with his own character Eärendil from the Anglo Saxon Earendel which was the name of the morning star ie Venus. So he did. Tolkien's own letter states where he came up with the very character who would traverse the skies as a star coming from our evenstar. Tolkien doesn't call it that, he calls it other names in his mythology; Gil-Estel or Star of Eärendil.
