    Some people forget that BACK BACK BACK in the Olden days, they use to just put 30WT oil in gas. It was not even special. So I DID to a Video on my Old channel where I used Everclear for fuel, and Cooking oil for Lube. It worked in a Briggs. For a BIT. Did get Blowby, but it worked the summer. Thing is? Will it damage a 2 smoke? No. It will just wear more. But with how short the lifetime of a Typical 2 smoke is these days? Its not really a problem if you are in a TIGHT PINCH. Castor Oil I heard works well too. But really. With used oil everywhere, and Filters? Why even bother? Jason Ross 3 years ago had a great idea. Just use a FILTER for your old used oil. It will work fine. Sure you may be cleaning the JETS more often, but it works in a Pinch. Heck, Diesel does work in a 2 smoke as well. But you get more wear.
    I think Project Farm did the video about cheap vs Premium 2 atroke lube. The better stuff like Amsoil does work better no doubt. Perfect for use on your high end 2 stroke engine. On Yard Equipment? like Taryal fixes all said:
    "We are not building spaceships".
    One thing to note however... On the newer 2 strokes? Its 50:1 mix ratio. Keeping this mix is Vital on new stuff as you will lose power if you go 40- or 30-1. The Newer oils do a fine job at 50:1. And give you the most power as well. It also stops clogging of some of the Carb jets.
    Me? 2 smokes are just throw away motors for me. If I had a StiHL chainsaw? Sure, I would rebuild it. But most of the time, the engine will outlast the chainsaw for most people. And its often cheaper to just buy another one with a Clogged carby. (Often they are free!)
    I got 4 weed eaters because the last guy had carb problems with all of the . Many times, I can just rebuild them. Clean them. But since you can get a New carb kit for about $5.00 bucks, and a set of tools to adjust the carb for about $8.00? Its the better option. Often they come with new lines and filter as well.
    Its a no Brainer.
    Thanks for the great video!

      for all that shit u type you're wrong. you get more horsepower with more 2 stroke oil. "with the short lifetime of 2strokes these days" dude i have a cheapass craftsman leafblower that's 15 years old still going strong. never done anything to it

    Yes you can and some of the newer 2 stroke oils for the industrial sector are vegetable based. It also works for bar oil on chainsaws( rapeseed or canola oil is what the loggers now use)
    There are a few options out there ie: sae30 or veggie oil. I just get the petrol based 2 stroke oil its cheap and it has the additives.

    in my situation, my apartment management bans gasoline and motor oil in the apartments, alcohol and cooking oil, or just cooking oil might work, and they can't ban that.

    strain used motor oil useing two legs from bluejeans one inside the other and close the ankle part over..it will reduce particals to about 12 microns..could use the legs to filter cooking oil for diesel as well :) just thought id add what ive done :)

      +Jason Ross Haha I used that method for cooking oil when I had my old 300tdi. The TD5 doesn’t really like burning oil though only diesel lol

  • @Joe30pack

    The vegetable oil has 300 times the lubrication properties of diesel fuel and burns 68% cleaner, so your good on that point, I wouldn't worry about premature engine failure due to insufficient lubrication. I have a few videos on the subject and many more to come, thanks for this- it has inspired a bunch of test ideas!

    When I got my new Chainsaw I only had Heptane and Hexane available. I ran it on Heptane. For 0 Octane, it runs incredibly well.

  • @davebailey8093

    Yes! Vegetable oil is a good alternative as it's pure oil without other additives that can leave combustion chamber clogged, and it blends well with petrol and will lubricate mate, but you're correct it is best used as an alternative to get you out of trouble. Good video 👍

    I would imagine olive oil, because of its unique properties in cooking, might work but it will burn at lower temperature. I guess you want it to burn though.

    it works man dont worry about the minor details its not worth the money. when engines get old they are not running in optimal condition anyway.

    I had bio-diesel with a bit of fuel and 2stroke oils to lub my diesel engine. What do you mean it does not lube anything??? Electric lift pump , high pressure diesel pump and injectors are lubricated to as well.

    I USED THE VEGGIE OIL IN MY MIX ON SEVERAL 2 STROKE MOTORCYCLES AND IT WORKED FINE EVEN AT HIGH SPEED
    BUT WHEN I TORE THE MOTOR DOWN THE INSIDES HAD HARD HARD DEPOSITS ALL OVER... IT WAS EVEN DIFFICULT TO REMOVE WITH A CHISEL..
    SO I NO LONGER DID IT BUT IT DID SMELL GREAT.... LIKE RACING CASTOR OIL WHICH HAS BEEN USED FOR YEARS
    BUT IM NOT SURE IF THE CASTOR OIL BUILDS UP DEPOSITS??

    • @mrdilligaf1968
      @mrdilligaf1968 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Castor oil is a great lubricant but it creates a bit of carbon which destroys bikes power valves. It doesn't mix easily with petrol and to be safe , add 20% methyl benzine to blend it

    • @baddaluccibourchini7514
      @baddaluccibourchini7514 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You mean for cooking, right? I'm pretty sure the cock oil is water based, so you would definitely want to stay away from that. But as far as a good veg based oil for a two stroke is concerned, I found the best to be sesame seed oil and peanut oil as a close second.

    um LOL why even bother making this video? You proved nothing.... You have a title "" Can You Use Cooking Oil Instead Of 2-Stroke Oil "" then you don't even run it for more than a few minutes..... It being able to start doesn't mean you can run it. I guess I'll have to do my own tests, but i'll one up you and use cooking oil and ethanol, in place of gas and oil.

    • @RSPYT
      @RSPYT  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @danteerskine7678
      @danteerskine7678 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RSPYT 2 stroke oils are difficult to find nowadays. So I go for either sae 40 and 15w40 diesel multigrade engine oils, they're more viscous and thick, I use it in my 2 stroke generator as substitute, a bit Smoky but nothing dramatic. In a 2 stroke engine, you could mix any oils you want as long as it's oils, no matter what, these engines will produce visible smoke anyways
