#6 Plantation Society

Introduction to the Caribbean. This is the sixth weekly lecture for our new course and this week we focus on plantation societies and their development in the 17th to the 18th centuries. Nearly all of what Franklin Knight calls "settler societies" failed to be economically viable and were transitioned over to slave-based exploitation colonies, exporting sugar. This led to a unique and distorted (if not perverted) social development.
