@@mgschwartz it says right under the rulings for master of cruelties that it should still work, because it’s when it attacks and isn’t blocked and isn’t an ‘when this creature attacks’ effect. it’s effect takes place in the declaring blockers phase, as it must be unblocked to trigger. I don’t see how it doesn’t work anymore
You’re looking at the gatherer text from 8 years ago, which is describing how it used to work. The Kaalia update from last year indicates that it would no longer work the way you’re describing.

I’m pretty sure that master of cruelties no longer works with Kaalia as of last August.
