I have heard, on various floss tubes, that an option for stitching over one is to use Au Ver a Soie Surfine. It's a finer silk with good results for stitching over one. I believe this was a recommendation from the Attic. Hope this is helpful. Your WIPS are coming along so beautifully. Your finishes deserve a BRAVO! Take care my dear friend.

Also if you want a sewing thread, a 50wt or above would be fine enough to not make your stitches look crowded. Brands to check out would be Aurifil, Superior Threads, and Quilters Select. They are high quality threads I have used and love in quilting.

I’ve heard this too on the Traditional Stitches Flosstube. They are even offering it as an option for their HATs kits and they have a recommended needle to use as well.

Marilyn Leavitt Imblum is the designer of Told in a Garden and Lavender and Lace. She was also the mother of Nora Corbett.

Good morning, Carol, so nice to see you. I so appreciate the information you shared with me. I thought the chart was similar to other Told in the Garden charts I have seen. I certainly had no idea she was the mother of Nora Corbett. What a designing legacy. Thank you for watching and your informative comment.

I see that other viewers have already provided their suggestions re threads for 1-over-1 stitching. I had heard about AVAS 100.3 and surfine, but someone also mentioned Gutterman's which was new to me. Learning new things!
Thank you for including viewer shares in your flosstubes. It's fun seeing the variety. And, yes, Marilyn Leavitt-Imblum was Nora Corbett's mother. You can certainly see style similarities in some of their pieces. My mom used to stitch a lot of patterns from both of them back in the day (early 90s?). Funny story: Mom ran across a problem in one of NC's charts, so she called the number printed on the cover and got Mr. Corbett on the line. He helpfully asked NC for clarification and relayed it to Mom. Different times!
    Take care.

      @SarahsStitchySpot  ปีที่แล้ว

Hello, so nice to see you. Every one has been so generous with their suggestions. I was thrilled to hear about the Gutterman’s, because I do have a JoAnn’s close. What a lovely story about your mother. Yes, times have changed. My father was always one to pick up the phone as well. Thank you for watching. Happy holiday stitching.

You shared my finishes, thank you!! I realized after I sent you the pics that I hadn’t put the bottoms on the Lori Holt one, haha. I have them set aside for when I find the right frame. Thank you for doing FlossTube, you really seem like a spectacular person. So kind.
As for ads/commercials, I think there are two factors. One is that I think advertisers have certain quotas for ad time that they need quarterly and as the quarters come to a close they are short and advertise more. And second, I think it also depends on each users actual interaction with the ads. I do let some of them play out on the tv when I’m watching FlossTube because my hands are busy. So I might “watch” more ads per quarter than someone else. But maybe someone who skips commercials faster will have more 5-second interruptions for ads because they don’t ever watch a 30-second ad. Just my thoughts.
Can’t wait to see you next time!!

I use a silk Guttermann thread that I get from Joann's. It's normally where all the other thread is and if you get it on sale it's a much cheaper option than 100.3 or surfine.

Oh isn’t Ersilia fabulous! Congrats on such a wonderful finish Sarah. I’m curious about a couple of things my friend. Firstly, would you show us some of your beaded snowflakes from your tree, I’d love to see them. And secondly, let’s say that on a recording day you and Stan had “ words”, you know like somebody didn’t empty the dishwasher or put out the trash or some other irk of marital cohabitation, would you have to thank him for your song through gritted teeth? 😉. Of course, I’m just kidding because you and Stan have it together and wouldn’t let petty annoyances interrupt your gratitude, but I’m just asking for a friend 🤣

So you may Teel your friend, I gritted a few teeth in my life. Take care, my friend. Give Charlotte a big holiday hug from me. She can certainly brighten my day as you do as well.

Hi! Great to join you again! About the over one...go thinner. Since you are stitching on 36 count for that piece, I would to 100/3 AVAS. If you at stitching on 40 count or higher, for the over one then AVAS Surfine. I think its all called Noir, or "black" to us. 😊 Hang in there you can do it! Thanks for another great video

I am doing 1 x 1 Full Cross on 25 Count and I am using DMC Threads. I like the Coverage. I don’t have any problems with this at all. I even did 310 Black - 1 x 1 - did not have any problems. If I was you Sarah I would just use DMC Threads and do 1 x 1 Full Cross.

For the over one stitches I think it depends on what you like and your stitch count. But if you’re not happy with the way that it’s laying, I would recommend the single cross (tent stitch), it works just great for me and also the soie surfine floss is super thin silk thread. I was so scared of stitching one over one and my first few attempts were awful but I kept at it and now I’m ok with how it’s looking for me on 36 count with the soie 100.3 and the tent stitch. I would just keep plugging away at it and you should get that successful feeling once you get more comfortable with it.

Sarah, you need to use Soie Surfine for the 1over1. It is the thinest silk. Also, I have found thr most wonderful thing that has made thr 1 over 1 much easier. It is a small light and magnifier that you can attach to your scroll or Q-Snap. I bought it at Keepsakes. It has made the 😂world of difference and is much better than the magnifier on my floor lamp which was hard to position.

Good morning, Deborah, so nice to see you. I do have some Soie Surfine to try. I use strong readers for fine work. I don’t know if that light/magnifier would work for me as I stitch in hand. I so appreciate your tips. Thank you for watching and all of your support. Happy holiday stitching.

Sarah, I just love your enthusiasm and your beautiful projects. You do give me ideas and that is a little dangerous!! On the sampler you have some over one to do, I have heard that Tudor silk is a thinner silk and can be used on higher count linen. Also, have you tried sulky thread which is a sewing thread and has a wide variety of colors. I wasn't sure if you wanted to stay with silk on the entire sampler. I believe the letter you showed that was tent stitch showed up very well. Stay strong and keep on!!!

I still can't take 1 strand off the skein like Laura does, I'm challenged! Very nice for her to cook for everyone, looked delish!! Maybe try Soie Surfine, Au Ver A Soie

I've heard that Tudor Silk is a good option for one over one. I plan on trying that with my next project!

I can’t wait until Ann Campion is released! I have heard of people using Soie 100.3 for the 1 over 1 stitching. I think that is what I will try.
