- Hey Guys this is Ashish & Welcome to ABVentures !!
So had to Take care of a unexpected issue due to Newly Installed Alloy Wheels. My Stock/Factory Wheel Bolts were not long Enough for Alloys and Had to Replace them with New longer studs.
Along with That I replaced my old Disc Rotors that were bent/wrapped maybe due to heat or heavy use.

The bolt cover though unique spoils the overall look. All in all, a great job, a great video, very informative as always.
I have mixed feelings about them too. Just wanted something to complement with colour of calipers. Let's see. Will take them off after a while if it looks odd. Thanks for the input😊

Hi AB. The calipers are done beautifully. They compliment the dark gun metal alloy wheels perfectly. Probably a black or body color silver cap may help it look less gaudy. At the end of the day, Don't worry about the comments. Just go with your gut feeling. Enjoying your work. One noticable thing that front misaligned disk no need to replace. Simply alignment on leth machine that is good for economically
I have struggled a lot on this vibration issue after purchase of my Scorpio s5 on 3rd day. It was ongoing till one year almost. Everytime I have visited service centre. They did some polish work and says it's fine now. After all this I go with legal action. So they have changed all the rims discs break assembly. Now it's fine. They have fitted new alloys which is now getting on S11

Very interesting method to replace the bolts and I am impressed that you checked to see that the new rotor was not warped. If you used a lead hammer I bet that the bolts would have come out quicker. Do you ever use a torque wrench to tighten the lug nuts?
I wasn't using a heavy hammer as a "mis-impact" could have damaged hub or breaking mechanism but yes heavy impacts would have worked faster. I dont use a torque wrench. Thanks for watching 😊

Some question:
1. Where can I get that guage from?
2. Are your alloys hub centric? If not then the steering wobbles over 100?
3. Did you tried measuring the alloys outer lip from that gauge for wobbles?
1. It's a dial gauge and you can find it online or from any engineering instrumentation shop.
2. Yes my alloys are hub centered and I don't get any wobbles over 100
3. No I didn't measured with alloys on coz. the root problem was due to disc rotors only in my case. it occurred only when I engaged brakes. Secondly wobbling due to alloys remains constant while driving and increases with speed and has no relation with brakes. And it can be diagnosed easily on a wheel balancing machine.

Thanks. I get the Items from a Auto parts shop near me in Rohini. It's an old shop and if you place order he arranges genuine parts within 1-2 days.
HI ashish, dont you think tyre profile is not thick enough for an A/T specially if you have to air down some place.
My tread width is enough. Never faced an issue due to that. Luckily Scorpio is one of the few Mahindra's vehicles that come with a decent tyre size. Thick enough to handle rough terrain. Thin enough to maintain mileage and handling

That mag dial gauge was ultimate. U should have shown it to yr lathe fellow. Asked him to give another 0.1 cut.
I don't know a relaible Lathe operator. I already got them turned a few weeks ago and still got stuck with warped rotors. So decided to replace them completely as the wobbly steering wheel was very irritating while braking.

How's the braking after rotor change? And why it didn't resolve with lathe turning - it should have if done nicely - what's your say on this?
Braking is ok now. Technically it lathe operator should have sorted out the Issue but. I guess it was either due to improper turning on lathe machine or some kind of damage while driving down hill. Either way I was not comfortable with a warped rotor and wobbly steering so opted for a replacement..
sir gtreat detailed vdo. I am planning to get an alloy for my tata safari 2021 base model, using the same 16inch stock tyres. I got a quote for neo wheels for 25k (alloys manufactured specifically for tata harrier, which will fit safari also) and momo wheel same 16 inch alloy for 44k. What is your opinion? Which one I should go for?
Neo wheels are good 👍. They are less expensive and serves as OEM to many manufacturers in India. So if you are on a budget go with it.
Momo is Italian and quality wise a little superior with better designs.
So if you are not considering budget, go with momos

Not sure. Maybe not machined properly or got warped due to excessive heat while driving downhill...
Hi wht is the red stuff on grab handle and around the headrest
One fitted on roof in place of Grab handle is a glass breaker safety hammer cum seatbelt cutter. The red strap around headrest is my LED headlamp. I keep it there for easy access at night.

There was same problem in my scorpio s10.Lathe machine doesn't affect much,rotors are to be replaced anyway.

Does steering response changes after upgrading from steel wheels to alloy wheels? Plz reply.
Yes mine improved. But I changed both tyres and alloys so it can be because of any one of them or both.
@@ABVentures I have changed only alloys. Tyres are stock. But steering response is hard. Is this because of alloys ?
@@lachala no alloys don't cause steering hardness. Check the tyre pressure and wheel alignment

smear grease on the colored bolt plugs before installation to keep moisture and water away, else they will end up doing more harm than good.

can we insist to check disk pad wear out with mechanic ? probably they would not knowing, out of my 35 years of experience with vehicles and garages I have not found a single mechanic who has checked this way either to my own or others vehicles.

Thanks a lot for the appreciation. With long term use, heat and impacts sometime disc rotors get wrapped/bent. Generally it can be felt while braking as vibrations are transferred to the steering assembly. Most mechanics won't bother this much as the only solutions are either replace them or machine them. I was just checking the runout to make sure my diagnosis was right. Regarding toolkit, I'll suggest go for Stanley. Its a good brand and most of mine are same. Plus very easily available on Amazon. I borrowed dial gauge from a friend who works in servicing of centrifugal pumps... i think new one costs around 4-5000
I installed plati alloys 16 inch on my safari 2021. Same issue the nuts are left 25% unscrewed. I would really be grateful if you can share the number of the mechanic who replaced the bolt on your suv. Thanks
There's no mechnic dude.. it's all me...😄..I manage my Scorpio on my own..
I can tell you the details of shop from where I got the bolts. But rest has to be taken care by you... I guess any mechanic with a Jack, spanner and hammer will do...it's quite simple..
@@ABVentures awesome you did all by yourself. Believe me I was so much anxious the nuts not tightening after the alloy installation, but happy to get the solution. The plati alloys have 690 kg load rating. Someone told me, on the safari forum, that the load bearing of these alloys is not sufficient. Just wanted your view on this. Thanks

On papers 180 mm. But in practice around 210-220 mm. Lowest level is side steps and fuel tank plastic gaurd.

Thanks sirjee. Papa ke paas purani fiat thi. Usi car ne sab sikhaya tha kyuki Kabhi bhi kahin bhi kharaab ho jati thi😂. Baki dheere dheere 17-18 saal mein trial and error se seekha hai. Baki tools mere apne hai aur dial gauge ek friend se borrow kiya hai...
This happened because you purchased after market Alloys.If you bought original Mahindra Alloys this would not happened. Aftermarket alloys are not as same as Company provided alloys...in terms of both size and shape and material cpmponents.My Scorpio has all 5 Alloy wheels all are top model S11.No issue...you don't need to do anything.You will feel drastic difference when you got original alloys in your car.
Mahindra doesn't manufacture alloys. they buy it from a vendor and brand it under their name. Raising the price of a 20K set to 45-50k. They don't even have variety in design like some other manufacturers. Mahindra OE alloys are thinner and weeker compared to Momos. A OE product from a company doesn't guarantee quality so stop advocating it.
@@ABVentures I have completed 1 lakh kilometres with my alloys...no issue.I have experience of 23 years of driving... I'm 37 and learnt driving when I was 14.Yes my alloys are pricey.4 alloys cost almost 40k.But I believe in it...and I will reason is simple because OE fitments are not inferior qualities if that happens why all the manufacturer provide alloys or drl with the top end models only? not low range models.Then all the luxury brands would not provide alloys with their cars..even recently launched LR Defender provide options to consumers to choose variety of alloys or even steel wheels for hardcore offroading.I know all the facts you mentioned being an engineer.Where I live is very near of Eastern Himalaya...yearly we receive high precipitation....torrential rain. I'm against any kind of modification of car unless the product is original OE fitment.May be you are right but I believe in it..I notice You fit foglamps in your car with DRL..in Amazon it is available I fitted mine about 5 years ago OE of course without DRL.. till running well. For instance you share a video on tyres...had you checked MRF Wanderer Sport??? Try it ..a very reliable well built desi all terrain tyre(asymmetric)...BTW I'm not advocating for OE fitment I just shared my experience...

Change the wheel bolts. XUV has same sized longer bolts. Try that if possible
