This is a great compilation, because it shows how often Purdy throws down field not relying on YAC. Those people who say he just throws 3 yard screens and relies on the receivers to do all the heavy lifting are just wrong.
@@DefySF also funny they dont bring up purdy has the same 40 time as mahomes and looking just as good in terms of mobility and pocket presence. Purdy admittedly doesnt have mahomes weird baseball arm but still tons of deniable upside
people dont watch the games, last year i didnt see a single game last year of 49 and i was thinking 'wow shanahan can work wonders' but this year i start watching the game and wow, purdy is lot better than people give him credit, he is really good at qb does not need to do anything flashy he read defense fast make quick pass and great anticipation and is the best QB under pressure in the league by stats.
The game that showed me he is very very good was against Cleveland, bad weather no cmc no deebo down by 9 going into the 4th and he put the 49ers in a position to win for not a missed field goal.
After watching the Atlanta v Niners game in the NCC game of 2012 season Brock is light years ahead of Kaep, JG, and 90% ahead of other current NFL QB's!
Ive been watching Niners football every season since I was old enough to understand it. In my 29 years of age the Niners have never had a QB as dialed in as Brock is. Im not taking anything away from Garcia, Smith or Kap, or even Jimmy but how many seasons were they playing at an MVP level or putting up #s like he is. In most cases they played just good enough to win, sometimes they were elite. Purdy is playing elite damn near every game. Its really exciting to see this team at full strength.
@@MrFreakazoid24 If only you could have seen Joe Montana and Steve Young at work. You just made me happy to be 54 years old, so I want to thank you for that. But, since it's getting close to 8pm, I have to go to bed.
@@MikeSchmidt969 Those dudes were ballers! Fortunately my dad taped most of their games so I was able to get them digitized. Niners getting #6 has been a long time coming, hopefully we can get it this season.
@@MrFreakazoid24 Let me go further. I've been a fan since 1958. At this stage of his career Purdy is light years ahead of where Joe was at this same point.
It would be a god damn Shame if Brock doesn’t get a ring this year you don’t know how bad I want people to stop talking shit about him and prove everyone wrong
i'm a huge fan of brock, but Tom brady still dealt with the doubt until like superbowl 5... brock is going to be dealing with the naysayers a long time simply because of his draft position.
He has an offensive line that is average at pass protection yet he makes incredibly fast usually very good decisions and he is getting much more confident in his ability to throw passes into tight coverage.
@@billjones4159 Pass Blocking and run blocking are graded differently. The 49ers are an excellent run blocking team. Pass protection is a different matter. Both are hard to quantify as there’s no readily available statistic for how often players pick up blocking assignments. For this I was using PFF rankings of pass blocking.
I can't wait to see a Purdy highlight where Al Michaels says "Rembrandt back to pass". That will be special. Thanks for putting this together. Stay healthy Brock! Go Niners.
One of the things working against a positive perception of Purdy is the fact that he makes it look so, so easy. Casual fans look at that and say, "yeah, he's just doing what any QB should do." He's like the mental image people have of the everyday NFL QB. (When they're playing well, that is.) Purdy's consistency is at such a high level that it doesn't just blend in with the background, it becomes the background.
People see all these scramblers make crazy plays out side of the pocket (which purdy can do to) and think that it makes them better, but most the time they’re scrambling because they missed reads, bailed out to early, or didn’t trust their receivers, which purdy can do which is why he makes it look so simple
With the exception of the pass to Christian vs. the dolphins he's insanely good at not throwing suicide passes. His guys always have room to run after recieving
I've never had the first comment anywhere on TH-cam but I can say this much.... Anyone who thinks Brock Purdy is not better than any other quarterback in the NFL has lost their mind and doesn't understand that he was never physically gifted so he went to the film room which makes him gifted above all other quarterbacks in the NFL irregardless of the stats!!
dont meatride him too much tho. hes a good qb and is doing better in sf than jimmy g or trey lance did, and he has a lot of talent, but he is also extremely lifted up by the superteam around him
I am in general agreement, but ANYONE in the NFL is physically gifted. Not even a little bit, but a ton. You absolutely cannot play in the NFL without being extremely physically gifted relative to the general population.
stays within himself, doesn't try to be spectacular, keeps vision downfield, simple passes because he allows receivers time to create distance. System QB, my butt. Really good QB.
all of these people can keep talking trash about brock and saying how he was “the last pick of the draft” who cares? what matters is how he plays and he is an amazing qb. i believe the niners would have won the sb last year if purdy didn’t get hurt. go niners!! get that sixth ring baby!! ‼️‼️❤️💛
But look at his options on almost every play. He has 3-4 different guys to throw to almost every play. He doesn't have to make tough decisions. He's not forced to make plays or to make something out of nothing, which he can do but its not needed. Some qb's are running for their life every play,he's not. He's composed, and doesn't ever seem to get frustrated or rattled. Solid qb.
look at him go through progressions at light speed, or throw it in anticipation. Not even Mahomes or Josh allen are doing that as consistently as Brock. Brock plays like a properly trained qb of the 90s and 00s.
They refused to pay the ones they have had, like Laken Tomlinson. They have also tried to draft linemen, but it isn't like they have whiffed on picks that could have been great linemen. Finally, the Shanhans are infamous for trying to go cheap on the offensive line. That 90s Broncos line was regularly seen as in the bottom 20s in the league. They trust in a scheme in the run game and on quick/sharp QB play like Brock to get the ball out before it is a problem. If they win a ring with this line, like the did for Elway twice and almost did with Jimmy, and almost did with Atlanta, it would be hard to blame them.
49ers struck gold with Brock Purdy. If I was the owner, I give Purdy a nice 7 figure bonus on the down low because he is playing football very, very good at a very, very high level for 900k a year.
That very first play was a HUGE test for the kid and got my full attention. There have been video essays on that defense and how it tests QBs in the NFL. That defense is what forced Sam Darnold to say he was seeing Ghosts. That defense forced Mahomes to get better. Brock ate it alive the first time he saw it like a 5 year vet, and hasn't been fooled by it once yet, as he also ate it apart vs the Cardinals last week.
The throw to CMC vs TB in his first start was when I knew this dude was for real. Bad QBs can't make that throw. The haters just simply don't actually watch him play.
The haters see him play but ripping him creates ratings which sell ads. It's all about the all-mighty buck, If they gushed about him their ratings would tank. Controversy sells. I agree with your "Bad QB's" statement. Totally. He is great at 23

the yac argument is stupid as hell anyway. You can only be good if your skill players are bad? pffft
Also highlights his mobility while maintaining vision and short yardage speed.
