They keep discrediting this man as an athlete, yet there is more than one highlight here where this man is using his legs to escape the pocket and extend the play OR rushing for a first down when needed. It's been said his short area run-times, when evaluated pre-draft, is actually pretty damn good. This tape does not lie in that assessment, because as an athlete, he IS mobile enough to do damage to defenses when it is needed. It has also been stated how 'middle of the pack' the o-line play (outside of Trent) has been all year. Purdy will never get the recognition he deserves until he wins a SB. Its because of the playstyle of the offense. He throws a lot of short to intermediate passes, and the playmakers do the heavy lifting (YAC). If the offense was set up where he threw more deep passes 20 to 30 range (air yards), then he would get more recognition.

As I get older, I am realizing that a consolation prize for not winning the SB is to remain relevant and at least see some playoffs...Niners haven't sealed the deal since '94 but we've had so many unforgettable playoff moments and games since then, a lot of fanbases would kill for just that alone. As an Englishman who enjoys watching the very entertaining American "Football" I cant help but wonder, what is the fixation of trying to strip the ball rather performing a decent tackle to bring the player down often you see a player latch on to the waist of the ball carrier trying to strip the ball whilst being dragged 2,3 and sometimes 4 yards, when a simple tackle to take the legs would have ended the play, as my old Rugby coach used to say "They can't run without their legs" but all in all American "Football" is a very entertaining game to watch.
