I just got an EV. I work Monday through Friday. We have 4 EV chargers I can use for free at work. Always available! I come to work-charge up to 80% to 90%. Good for the weekend. Have a fully paid for 2020 Highlander and use that for any long distance needs. Saving over $250 of gas a month. Lease amount is $199 a month. Almost like driving for free!!😊😊

That's a smart play. It's nice having work EVs at work available. I had a couple available at work when I bought my first EV but then more and more people starting buying EVs so we had to take turns. Enjoy that nice perk!

Interesting to see how things are done in the US. Here in Hong Kong, our free public EV chargers are located in car parks. We don't need apps or cards to use the free 6kW or 7kW EV chargers. However, we have to pay the hourly parking fees (from US$2 to $4 per hour).

Here in Midland MI we have a whopping 4 Chargers for the public.2 are slow. Less than 10Kwh. 2 are much higher. 150Kwh or more. For a town of 45,000, not encouraging. 3 have J-1772 and 1 has CCS Plugs.
    Nice pics by the way.

That is a small amount of chargers for that size community. I feel fortunate here. But I am seeing more and more EVs using them. When I first got my EV finding an open charger was almost guaranteed. Now there have been a few time where they have been all in use.

Similar situation here in Prescott Valley, AZ. Population 51,000+.

I’m in NW Wisconsin and there isn’t a DCFC closer than 80 miles from me but for myself that’s fine since I’ll have the car charged up from home then I’ll DCFC on a road trip if I’m on one.

Free chargers seem to be a waste of time, always occupied by the same few local cars so benefiting that cheapskate living on the next block but not the traveling public. In Ontario there is a company that requires an app to start their chargers and provide 2 hours free any additional time is charged at $3 per hour, seems to keep the freeloaders from abusing the chargers.

If you own a Tesla just let the vehicle tell you where the superchargers are located. You will get faster charging and no range problems.

I've recently discovered that not all ChargePoint chargers have the same rate. Near my condo, there are two different ChargePoint chargers. They are less than 2 minutes walk apart. Both slow level 2 at 6kwh. But one is 16 cents/kwh and the other is 25 cents/kwh.

Yes. It's very important to check the rates prior to using to know whether or not it's worth it.

If you don’t like downloading apps then maybe a EV isn’t what you be getting lol. I live in a rural area and there’s not many free charging around here unless you go to a dealership and I’ve gotten 4-5 kWh’s from them on Sunday’s when I’m driving the EV and they’re closed but I got a dirty look from someone that was working on the weekend the last time so maybe I won’t try that again.
