I have to agree with you, a while ago I became TOP 6 on destroyed ships, but the highest rank I ever got was a basic colonel, while my company general was not even in TOP 20
Yeah I remember back in the day ship kills and PVP was the way to go for getting rank, so seeing high-ranking ships was scary because you knew they were good at the game, and after they released ABG people started just doing GG's for rank and it was worthless to go for PVP for rank.
One of the things that could make PvP more valuable in the ranking system is to raise the value of the ships killed by a lot, let's say a goli for 800/1000 points. This way hunting becomes rewarding as well as PvE. Not that this is way to fix the problem. but at least it makes it a bit more fair

Now we have the traditional rank in the left side of our username. How about adding a secondary rank that would have some cool symbols in the right side of our name or below or top of it. Or for example to the right side of HP and shield. This secondary rank would not count honour, exp or alien kills (so bots cannot farm it). It would only focus on PvP side of things. Also make it to reward kills on PvP maps more so you would not get the same amount of rank points by killing 2 flax goli in x-2 and killing UFE goli in PvP during some PvP event. This would keep the people going for the standard rank happy. I think that changing the current and only rank would be really bad because so many people are paying money just to grind their ranks. If BP takes it away they may feel scammed and quit. Edit: I really like the elo system you mentioned. Killing people who do not play PvP and have really low elo would not give you elo. But if you get killed by someone low elo you lose lots of elo. And this elo may define your new rank. I partly agree with you. I agree, that the ranking system itself really needs to change, but not in the way intended. It doesn't make sence, to just change it back to PvP. It has to be balanced between PvE and PvP, so that it would be as effective to go hunting as it is now to do GGs. The problem is, that BP itself pushed the amount of honor you can get by gates and missions, but never changed the old rankingsystem. BP itself wanted this game to go like it is today.
honestly i like the rannking system as it is since the 100 quests came out. if you want to play for top user, you have the quests if you want a high rank you play gates. i just think pvp players should have some other form of recognition but tieing honor points to rank makes sense.
Summary: The Ranking System must be based on PvP because I, KillmediuM, can kill people with a higher rank than mine. I agree that PvE can ruin ranks, but if you don't have Major, does it kill you? Absolutely not. You either: -pop more ships, focus citadels and golis or: -you join the PvE club where you farm gates and/or uber NPCs for a better rank.
Here is how I would go about redoing the rank system. The elo system is the best way to do a rank system, but you have to tweak it to be for a MMO. Since there are a total of 20 ranks you could achieve within Darkorbit make it where you would have to achieve 20000 elo(1000 points per rank) First thing first lower the impact of GG on rank greatly to where it is almost has no impact on your rank. How you would do this is instead of giving huge amounts of honor you have the amount of gates complete totaled up like amount of enemy players killed on the rank point equation. Put an emphasis on on PvP. Killing rewards are increased by how much higher rank the player is above you that you do at least 60% of the dmg too. So let’s say you are a Lieutenant and you kill a captain you are rewarded 50 elo, but if you kill another lieutenant you only gain 15. BUT if your a Captain and you kill a lieutenant you only gain 5. This would put an emphasis on PvP and get more players playing like the older days not like they are right now where you see the rank push guys only on during Sunday’s.
I think each rank should have a multiplier applied to rank points given per kill. That way if you kill higher level players you get more rank points, thoughts?
Maybe, instead honor points, bigpoint should put something like "ships destroyed points" and comeback the honor points like uridium (1.000.000 hp= 1.000 uri) 4 don't make feel to the gg players than they efforts was for norhing
the elo system is perfect say you get 100 kills for one day u can gain certain ranks and each badge should be a certain threshold based on ship kills (mostly) as well as factoring in things such as honor,exp etc?
Hello and thanks for doing this.i want you to talk about the companies, what do you think?.....i mean there's no point on choosing a company anymore...... it was the essence of the game choosing 1 to fight the other two. Also events like spaceball, tdm,ctb, the jackpot battle between companies , those events with so many people participating. even new players could have fun but now they are useless. Same with old title system i think they can bring it back by just changing the titles with a diferent unique color. Keep up the good work.
I have a suggestion, So why not create a new ranking system where it is for hunters. Leave the old ranking system how it is. So for example there will be 2 rank system one for the wallater warriors(galaxy gates etc.) and one for the hunter this will seperate the good ones from the bad. there will be a target for each set of kill you get fort example 1-1000 kill will receieve a new badge 1001-5000 another badge 5001-15000 another badge and so on and so on . this will clear up all confusion about who is good. you will be good with the gates but can you hunt.

If you are a low rank and kill someone who is a colonel, you will get significantly more rank points than a colonel killing some noob, or even the person ranked directly below him.
they see their rank go up by constantly going in gates, paying tons to get into gates all the time, so they kinda want to rank up, and ofcourse BP prefers having more people PAY for the game, and not just a lil bit, so ofcourse they'll prefer people that constantly do gates, get tons of honor etc that way.

Everyone know that BP dont change gg or something like that. now it brings money for them and ranking for players. There are some chances to do better fair ranking system, but they must do some kind of PVP event. Like turnament like jpa or uba with the awards with honor. You win turnamet u got 500kk honor or more or less i dont know. It schould be fair award, then is a chance to more fair ranking system. If thay raise only ship awards players start pushing. If its a event where win the best its more fair

Maybe you noticed it but meanwhile its a PVE Game. Thats because of the ranking system -> U need Uridium for Galaxy Gates and how to get Uridium really fast? Wait for a MHH or a Helix. And thats how they make their money most of the time, every account has so much ammo meanwhile, that we all could fight with ammo for months so we dont need to pay for Uridium to get ammo etc. Same thing with the new laser u need to sacrifice a lot of time to get them.. Im a PVP player since 2 1/2 years and dont shoot as many npcs as other I still dont have the HP-Laser, Spartans etc. Im kinda old school :v Anyways, could you make a video about possible PVP Events (not like Domination) so Bugpoint can notice that? no... although i think it would be cooler if they added a mode where you could pick whichever laser you want etc and then get put against other people with the same eqpt, as in same lasers, shield etc. on the same level and same ship then it's literally about the skill and not about who paid the most.

Hmm Maybe some "farming when offline" mode. On x-1 would be some station where you could access map where is PvP disabled. The farming ship would kill and collected automatically. You could upgrade your farming ship - better efficiency. But playing on normal maps would still be more effective. You could or could not (I think it doesn't matter if you get a small number of ranking points) obtain ranking points. And of course, some bonuses like achievements for using this when you are offline. This could be limited by time (maximum number of hours) per day. People who would still use bot would get banned.
They could reset the ranks every 6 months. And.. idk if it's stupid or not but it would be nice to choose how you want to make rank. Like choosing from the begining : PVP Rank or Pve rank. General of kills or general of npc :)) Anyway.. the game is mostly a pve game now :( Just an idea, don't throw with rocks. ^^

back then it wasn't that different though, i started playing in 2013.. except it wasnt as easy to get lf4 etc and that lf4 was significantly better than lf3, now people been paying a tonne for lf4 and then lf3 damage gets upped to 180...

nen rank hat nichts damit zu tun wie gut einer ist :D vergleichbar mit csgo wenn du kein team hast eierst du vllt auf goldnoma master oder so waehren du mit team (aber vllt selber genau so gut) auf mge zocken kannst sprich es ist egal welcher rank man ist ^^

the game became so easy, i like it more when it was difficult to get even 1 or 2 havocs it was a process to get it, and thats why the people use to play all day, now boting u get 1 million uridium in a week so no body cares about playing, but its not only botting are all those events the things that make it so easy, and about the rank i think they should multiply the ship rank point x10 or something like that to equal the things, completely agree with u

I dont agree. If u want a high rank you need to grind which is fair. If it would be earnt by ship kills and such, people who are bad at the game couldnt reach any rank meanwhile like this everyone has the same chances
