Always try multiple channels. Not sure your service model, but SEO could be great start, takes a bit longer, but if your service area is local, could become an authority faster.

It is really true, I use no ads because I don't have a businesse just sometimes taking pictures for my friends, but I have more and more people wanting me to take their pictures. This is why I started learning these things, to see what am I doing right and how should I progress. Before this video I was thinking of affiliates, so I guess I'm working backwards as usually :D but this time it benefits me.

This is not new. The entire business model should be a mixed approach of all and not only one. Re WOM this is very hard to do given small start ups with cash flow issues, high levels of competition etc. paid ads is best for small start ups it brings quick wins.
