At the end you can see Dr. Chase on the left applauding for Rey and the dancers....even though you can still hear him singing and playing guitar! 😂 Seriously though this is such a perfect ending, tying together so many elements from throughout the film into one. Plus I absolutely love the tribute to Brittany at the very end. It breaks me every time. 😢 RIP angel 🌹
My dad moved away today, not far away, but away from my life. Due to a lot of reasons I will not be allowed to live with him anymore. I watched Uptown Girls because I thought it was going to be a harmless comedy to laugh at (I dont know why I even thought that in the first place), turns out I was very wrong and now I can't stop crying. This is really beautiful though.
I lost my dad a little at a time...he lived less than an hour away, but it might as well have been on the moon. He saw my brother, as they went hunting together, but not my sister or myself. Promises were broken with such regularity that you hated to hear the word 'promise' By the time he died, I had years of this distance to contemplate, but no explanation ever at anytime for any of his actions. I wish fathers realized what a long shadow their choices can cast on their children's lives. I wish I knew what else to wish for. I wonder if, in the five years since your post, your life has been good and I hope it has. I hope it has been full of good people who value and cherish you. Good luck and best wishes.
OMG I always cry....when Dakota starts fluttering around in her tutu on stage, and then goes, "cha cha cha!" and start crying when she plays, 'Molly" smiles...what an amazing..underrated film.....and best part of the whole movie...it was so emotional..how they filmed this...and choreographer nailed it..and director....amazing film.....Brittany was an incredible actress..and i wish she was still alive today ..R.I.P...Dakota was wonderful too..and Molly Shelton....even Melrose place star

I loved this movie as a kid and still do now. But as an adult I'm like wtf. What dance company would turn a recital into this whole dedication, for some rich girls nanny. It just makes no sense. I do still love it, and hate that she died so young.
It was and it wasn't. It was more of a dedication to her father, who was a famous musician. Either the guy or Ray bought the collection so it wouldn't be forgotten. Also she wasn't her nanny at this point. She was looking to go to fashion school.
