Just purchased Denon Prime 4 and trying to get my head around the software, so used to Serato and editing grids so easy. Thanks for this video, nice and easy to follow.
Thanks for the video, very useful. One question, does Engine have a function like rekordbox to analyze songs with different bpm? in rekordbox it is called dynamic analysis and it does it automatically
Hi there, I got the prime go couple of weeks ago. I have a question regarding manually beat grid songs in the engine dj software. so when i manually beat grid in the software I then can use the sync manager to transfer the new changes to the hard drive or flash drive? and changes i make on the prime device i then sync back into the engine dj software?
Correct once you make your changes to the songs in question you then sync your external drive with the library and your changes should transfer through.
Running into issues on the desktop version. Jumping the marker one beat does nothing sometimes. Seems like I have only a limited amount of "moves" when beat grid editing. If the bpm is way off to begin with, and I manually set the bpm correctly, a lot of the functions just don't work. All I can do now is shift left until it aligns.
Hello it's me again, I have another question for you. What is with the white cue marker on the track when you load a song to a deck. it appears somewhere in the middle of the track and I have the settings set for load track at start of cue point but it loads to the white cue marker. i also have another question, regarding the search bar on my prime go. I have a lot of music with different genre's when I want to type in a genre like say i want to see all of my reggaeton tracks and it would show a few not all and i know i have more than just a few in the prime drive. Is it something i have to activate in the settings?
hi, thanks for the video. after correcting the track and then syncing it to my usb and engine dj, it still seems to be incorrect and out of sync on my dj prime. How to fix this pls?
Hey so I’m not really sure why that would be. I’ve never had this issue. Every time I make a change to a song it’s directly reflected on the usb drive. Make sure your properly updating the changes with the proper drive. If that doesn’t work you might want to try the forum or the Facebook group. There’s a lot of good people in both places.
Okay I just got the prime 4 andnd I just do it on the fly? It was that not available when this video was made or cuz it seems pretty easy to me. Just do it on the fly with the track and it saves it..
I mean you can do everything the software can do on the controller from what I've noticed. So if anyone that doesn't know how just look up editing beatgrids on the fly prime 4
hi very good video and easy to follow thanks. I've been searching YT for a way in engine prime to beat grid tracks that change tempo e.g. 100 bpm intro and building up to 130 bpm mid track. I haven't found anything yet, do you have any tips on how this could be done in engine prime?
Im not sure if this can be done as other members have been asking for flexible beat grids for songs just like the example you gave. I know you can place markers manually but ive been told it stretches the song so that wouldn't be what you want. Again I do not have experience with this but im making another video soon about how to properly backup and prevent losing all of your cue points and loops so I will try and mess around with prime, if I don't comment back it means I haven't figured a way to do so.
@@AluzionTV I've read on forums the flexible grid used to be a function on older Denon players, maybe they will bring it back someday on a firmware update, cheers.
I feel so stupid but I can not work out how to tell if the beat grid is wrong. I just got 1 of these devices and I’m like, what if all my grids are messed up and I just don’t see how to correct it.
This is a good video, but the fact remains that we SHOULDN'T have to do this to every damned song in our libraries! Thousands of songs because their software is so damned broken is a serious issue. I just upgraded to the Prime 4 kit, and I'm pretty heated that virtually all of my songs are analyzed and gridded out incorrectly. Denon should be friggin' ashamed of themselves for hyping this awesome piece of hardware, just to release it with completely broken software. Thanks for the video, but again, we SHOULD NOT have to do this. Shame on you Denon DJ.
James Thomas I hear you James. What I notice is that older songs tend to need the correcting more than newer songs. Most of the time I check the same songs in Serato and that same song needs adjusting in Serato as well. For the most part it does a good job. I haven’t had the need to fix a beat grid on most newer songs. Although I do share your pain there are things that need to be fixed with prime software. And beat grids is one of them! Cheers thanks for taking the time to comment and watch.
As an old Traktor user and a DnB DJ, I disagree. It's the nature of the beast. Even in Traktor I don't fully use sync on more complicated mixes (double drop) because more often then not. Sync will never release on the beginning of the bar or measure. The problems that are present on the Engine Prime have existed on Rekordbox, Traktor for years. To say its " so dammed broken" is very disingenuous.
@@nevergone3424 I don't use sync at ALL, so seeing my beatgrids on the fly where they should be is VITAL. I mix by ear mostly, but there's some instances where I do something with about 2 seconds thought behind it, and need a point of reference. Tidal songs? They don't even TOUCH the realm of being analyzed properly...

Thanks this was helpful 👍 Prime always analyzes Drum & Bass as halftime. Almost every single track.
We have to edit every track ? That would be a pain. Thanks
