Just so you know, Engine also keeps a database folder on the computer where Engine is installed. That particular folder is located in the Music\Engine Library folder on a Windows computer. That folder contains a few different files than the Engine Library folder on your external drive. (I guess this is what Denon calls the Engine Prime Library, while the Engine Prime Target library is on your external drive). I'm confused why Engine works like this because people could very well have multiple external drives with different music on it. Apart from the above, I work the same way as you do. And I want to keep a backup drive for my external Engine drive. I use SyncBack to copy all the files and folders from my Engine drive to my backup drive (including the Engine Library folder). So after a backup with SyncBack, I now have two identical external drives. But somehow Engine finds some differences. As a test I created a test playlist on my Engine drive, synced the playlist to my Engine drive, exit Engine, and copy the Engine Library folder from my Engine drive to my backup drive, remove the Engine drive from my computer and run Engine again. I expect Engine to not complain about anything because my backup drive has an exact copy of my Engine drive, including the music files. yet it complains about the test playlist; the one file in that playlist is displayed in red. While this is not the case on my Engine drive. Strange...

You kind of confusing me so am I supposed to delete the database folder on the internal drive on the prime and then replace it with the back up folder? Is that what you saying?

How would I go about this if I wanted to make a back up and put it into another computer? Is it as simple as taking the engine prime folder from the USB to the new computer and it transfers everything over?

Hunter Wills depends on where your music is stored.
Technically how I use it is on an external ssd.
As showed in the video I have a main music folder and the engine folder is stored on the root level as the main music folder.
To move to another external ssd all I did was rename the other SSD to match my current drive and then copy and paste my main music folder and engine library folder and that should be an exact copy of your drive and now the new drove should work flawlessly.
I have never taken my music and engine folder from and external to an internal drive like on a computer. So I can’t tell you if that will work.
But if you understand how the engine folder stores information. By remembering what folders the music is in, as long as you mirror that it should work.
Sorry wish I could be of more help.

My prime 4 gave me the corrupt error message a few times. So I brought another 1tb hard drive and backed it up the same way as you have. Now when ever I get that message I just connect the prime 4 to my laptop and opy all the files from the 1tb ssd and bam........ everything it back. Not everyone knows about this method.

Marcus Henry I’m gonna drag my music and engine folder to my brand new 2TB SSD

Marcus Henry Yes I tried to explain it to a lot of people but they insist this method is obsolete with the new prime software with sync manager. I’m go glad it helped you. It takes all the worry out.

Aluzion TV I think I figured it out. After you updated your library in Serato, traktor or Rekordbox you have to import a playlist to engine, but a lot of songs come up missing. That’s where you drag all the songs from that collection playlist crates to the corresponding playlist on your devices. I will make a video.

Hi do you still back up this way now with the new update 2.2.1? and how do you fix red files?

    • @AluzionTV
      @AluzionTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes I do and it still works the same providing your using the external hard drive the same way I demonstrate in the video.
The red files usually mean missing file. Whenever this has happened to me it’s because I deleted a file on the drive itself without deleting from engine dj

@@AluzionTV oh ok. I will start to back up the engine library as of today. I thought it does that for you like in serato dj pro but i guess not. I do have another question. what is the proper way to import new songs into both engine dj software and the hard drive to use on the prime series on a weekly basis?
Because correct me if the way im about to explain how import as in adding new songs i'm doing it wrong. I download the songs from my desktop computer and then I put them in mewly created folders and then to a usb flash drive. Then since I also use serato dj pro, I go to my laptop which i use serato dj pro with and import the new song files into sdj pro, then anylize them and close down sdj pro. then I connect the hard drive i use with the prime device, in this case its the deon prime go. I then launch engine dj software, I click on the serato tab and click on the circle arrow icon to update the serato contents and that takes a long time to finish updating like 30-45 minutes. then when its done updating, while its still on the serato tab i click the playlist and highlight the new songs I added into sdj pro and drag and drop into respected folder within the main collection list of folder and then then from there I click on the devices tab to locate the hard drive i use with the preime go and highlight the folder inside there and drag and drop the new songs from the engine dj software.
Isn't this a lot of work to do to have new songs added in sdj pro, engine dj software and into the prime go hard drive? But then again I might be doing this all wrong.

Prime actually deleted a lot of my original hotcues from Serato so I’m reupliading my Serato songs of over 40,000 songs. They need to upgrade their software big time!

Mac Joseph I agree their software def needs more attention. Especially with beat grids. Making it easier to accomplish and also flexible with the song. I hope this video helped you
