Thanks for your kindness in taking time to make this vid & share it. I have read a few forum posts & seen a few vid's on Z3 door locks...Your vid is good at showing the specific problem and the spinning lock fix. (Others show more removal detail but not always explaining the fault & the fix well). Some folk replace the whole assembly with new part that dealer matches to original key. Others swap the lock barrel into a working salvage mechanism. ....I have to fix 2002 Z3 with spinning right door lock, (UK RHD drivers side). This should help me (I will use an equivalent UK sold metal expoxy adhesive &/or spring). My spring has to be in that door cavity somewhere !! ...I will use a magnetic pick up tool if needed. I may also buy a working salvage yard lock assembly in case i cant find the bits & then swap the barrel out....The vid quality was absolutely fine. No good having a sharp Hollywood production that sucks ! Thanks again :)
I assume it would work the same. I can't imagine BMW using a completely different design between the driver door lock and passenger's side on the same car
I’m having issues with mine, trying to put it back together and as I push in the detent in wit the spring and cover to see if the key part catches onto the part that turns left and right but it doesn’t. I don’t know if maybe the spring I have isn’t long enough or stiff enough
Thanks! This was the fix I needed

Thanks for the positive feedback. Best of luck on getting your lock fixed.
Excellent job! I've tried to film while doing a repair and gave up. Thanks for the info!
The procedure is the same for the driver door ? I own a z3 year 2000 Thanks 🙏
