Got one in blue , and I’m a youngster of 70 🤪. Never bothered with outside temp gauge, you always know when it’s cold outside. I’ve got panniers and top box for long trips. Panniers will take a large Schubert c3 pro easily, good 200 mpg . I use heated gloves because they keep tops of hands warm aswell. You can get wind guards . Been riding 50 years plus except at brands I’d never use a quick shifter ,or cruise control on motorways. And regulary do 500 miles to Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 and stop regularly for petrol and stroll at 140 miles. Great video love the bike + did I mention at my age the pillion hump on most bikes means I can’t get my leg over 😂😂, but the sport has a long shallow seat easy peasy 😊😊👍👍

Good review 👍 Had my 660 a week and love it , quick shifter adds a whole new dimension.
Used to own a speed twin, the 660 handles just as well and still gives a plush ride.
    Great job Triumph.

I'm considering buying one to replace my Bonneville T120 which I love, but it's a heavy bike for me to haul around the bends all day when I go touring. Decisions, decisions...🤔

There was a software issue with the Triumph heated grips, I hope they now have it sorted as I've just ordered a set. For some folks the mandatory first service firmware upgrade virtually disabled the grips from what I've read on forums, quite a few unhappy punters. Only done 350 miles on mine but love it, great review! My problem is I have a long body but very short legs. 28" inside leg. Had to get the low seat which helps a lot. I dropped it in the first week of having it whilst stationary in traffic. Blimmin steamed up visor and on tippy toes in peeing rain. If you got long legs then you will love it, its a much taller bike than I am used to. I also find the gear shifter small and close in, I am considering an after market replacement as I also have a bit of Charlie Chaplin feet, but those are really my problems and not the bike. Once I am moving on it it is a lovely ride!

    Nice review 😉
Took it out for a blast yesterday and can't fault it one but really. I found the throttle response very slow and gear changes also pretty relaxed but you learn to adapt so that's not really a big deal. Love the riding position and comfort and the debate about power is concluded as far as I'm concerned as 80bhp although half of what I'm used to is plenty for mischief around town, commuting and fun 👍😎

I lived in Auckland for 2 years and found the riding experience similar to riding in France, but as nice as NZ is in terms of open spaces and not much traffic, there's just not enough roads to add variety to journeys and it all becomes rather boring doing the same loops hence why I came back to Europe amongst other reasons.

Don’t feel bad about not finding much to complain about lol, it is actually very good. I picked mine up on March 1st and covered about 300 miles so far It’s a great all rounder. I agree that the road 5 tires make a positive effect on the ride, handling etc I had the panniers quick shifter, heated grips, hand guards and Bluetooth fitted. The panniers look great on the bike and are well made, Triumph heated grips always take a while to warm up but they are worth the money in my opinion. Looking forward to getting that 1st oil change at 600 miles over and done with then I can start to open her up a bit. Great vid 👍

    • @lundog8548

@@martinrea8548 Hello, so I wasn’t sure whether to reply at the risk of sounding like a hypocrite after my 1st initial review but things have changed a lot for me since I wrote that. Ultimately I have got rid of the TS and bought something else. Unfortunately I fell out of love with the bike the more I rode it and after about 4 months or so of ownership and a fair few miles I found issues that i wouldn’t have expected from a Triumph costing just over £10k with all the extras etc. little niggly things that in the end made riding the bike a chore rather than fun. Gear changing and throttle response being the main thing just overly clunky and jerky which in turn made using the quick shifter a nightmare, it was fairly smooth when the revs were up high but not really enjoyable to use lower down the revs. Issues with the screen moving dropping down the ratchet mechanism when doing 70mph or more it would benefit from have a way to lock it off in position. The character of them engine also started to annoy too not as smooth as you would expect. I did report all these issues to Triumph and they test ride the bike but reported it was working fine. I made sure the chain tension was spot on etc which helped a little bit ultimately I realised that this is what it’s supposed to be like. Plus points were the breaks/tyres/luggage. Perhaps I expected too much? I’m not sure but having owned a street triple RS 765 which uses the same basic triple engine and gearbox yet was so much smoother and probably the best I have used unfortunately the Tiger Sport failed to impress in the end. Sadly. I was at a complete loss as to what to replace it with but test rode a KTM 390 adventure and loved it and still do lol. It’s not something that one would consider as a competitor to the Triumph but its more relevant than you would think, bearing in mind that it cost less than half the price of the Triumph I snapped up a new 2021 model out of the show room for £5000 it certainly punishes above it weight. Well made lovely engine and gear box lovely and light and takes a pillion easily, wish I thought about one sooner it’s the bike I recommend to anyone over the Triumph to test ride. So for anybody thinking of picking up a Tiger please ensure you have an extended test ride and make sure it’s right for you, even throw a leg over the KTM you might be pleasantly surprised….

Cheers Chopsy for the reviews mate.
I'm liking the idea of the 660 sport. I had a KTM 1090 (S). I liked that bike, comfy, fast on public roads and just easy to live with. But at only 5'9" I struggled with the seat height and just the general size of the bike. I found the big Kato tested my riding abilities at slow speeds so I didn't look like a noob. Which was a shame as I could really hustle the bike once moving, sealed or unsealed.
For me, I wish Triumph made the tiger sport in a 765 and upgraded suspension but I'm sure I can have the suspension improved with K-Tech or similar. As for only being 660 well in Australia, we have slow speed limits so it's kind of pointless having fast bikes. I would do a full system and reflash of the ecu to squeeze a whisker more out of it.

Bought one three weeks ago and am still getting used to it. Tires are grippy, torque and power are on command. My last motorcycle I ever road was 33 years ago, and it was a Harley Sportster. I can see a quick shifter being fun with this bike.

The bike sounds really nice. I have a tuned up CBR500R which is a good deal faster than stock. I has a very similar 0-60 as the Tiger based in your results but it doesn't sound that good and it tops around 110 MPH due to gearing and lack of power up top. I love the way this triple sounds and how it pulls right to the top. I was pretty much set on adding a CBR650R to my stable but I'm interested in trying one of these out when they hit US dealers.

Had a test ride on one today. Good middleweight bike. Pretty much everything you've said in your review. During the ride the service light came on which overrides some of the display. The fuel light, which comes on with 2 bars remaining, does this as well. Spoke to the sales person and after the warranty is up and you do your own servicing they will put the bike on the diagnostics and remove the service warning light, at a cost of half an hour's labour. 🤔

Not so bothered about cruise control on a more budget bike, even though I still think all bikes with a RBW throttle should have the option, but the no centre stand is a real deal breaker. It limits the main reason for the bike's purpose, touring.
The Tracer 7 doesn't have the electric gadgets this has, but it's the better bike out of the two, imho. Hoping Yamaha give it a TFT and other gadgets on the next update.

Regarding preload adjustment, for the Tiger the manual says "Turn the spring preload adjuster clockwise towards the right hand side of the motorcycle to increase spring preload." So unless the manual is wrong, it's a case of lefty loosey for less preload and righty tighty for more preload! Should be able to prove which way it works by observing the spring length at each extreme - with the spring being shorter on max preload. I wish it was the other way because at fully anti-clockwise I found the suspension still rather unyielding on my test ride, but then I only weigh 14st! Hopefully it will soften a bit with use. Should be getting mine by the end of March.

Yes correct normally it is that way around, but observing the spring it was the other way around! Thats why I started winding right then saw it moving downwards, so then realised it was opposite.. bit of a weird one I agree 👍

    • @fred_jb
      @fred_jb 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@Lamb Chop Rides The spring does go downwards and get shorter as you increase preload - that's how preload works, but it doesn't make the shock shorter because the piston in the preload collar protrudes further. It then takes more weight to further compress the already pre-compressed spring, resulting in less suspension sag for any given load.

I test ride this from Webbs in Lincoln a few weeks ago and it’s a nice bike but lost out to a Honda CBR650R I test rode. Much quicker, more sporty and exciting than the Tiger Sport.
Also as a chunk chap I was surprised at how poor the screen was! At 6ft with the screen low I found a lot of wind hitting my shoulders and head and with it on the high setting all it did was move it up to the head only but make it way more turbulent
Surprisingly the CBR with its much lower sport screen and with a slightly forward sporty riding position gave more wind protection.
Don’t get me wrong the Tiger Sport 660 was a nice bike but I found it good but a bit dull whereas the Honda was very quick when worked and instantly as home on it despite the lightly sporty seating position and clip on bars and just Exciting in a way the Triumph wasn’t.

I'm wondering if a final drive ratio change affects the speedo calibration - does the speedo signal come from the ABS? Out here in the wide open West I could see going to a somewhat higher final ratio.

I am the same height as you are. A bit over 100 kg. I am not sure wich one to pick. Currently choosing between the tiger sport 660 and tiger sport 850. Have to testride both. I really like the multifunctional 850 (can do a little bit offroad) and the bit higher torque figure compared to the 660. I will use the bike mainly for commuting but I like the option of going on a gravelroad. Perhaps I answered my own question. For fun I have a nice Triumph Sprint RS 955i if I want to go fast.

    Hi Chops,
About the brake pads mate an improvement on EBC on my CB1300 and are Brenbo SA better ?
The guy from MCN told me to go for SBS sinter as they have more feel than Brenbo SA pads, no need to do a brake pad review buddy lol.
By the way I'm 6'2" and 20 stone too cut out the sugar after Christmas and lost half a stone straight away, looking forward to the summer mate, its time they stopped grit salting the roads now.
