The loudest feedback is us refusing to give them our money. If they won't listen to what we want, we won't give them what they want. Sorry not sorry, Disney ❤
And gameloft don't change the star path like every month like other pay or free game company do. I almost done with Street fighter 6 summer battle pass for this month intill next month and you get 250 back after spending 250 Fighter Coins for premium battle pass
I'm dying a little on the inside because I can't buy that cute little sweet house!!! I can't afford it anyway but I sure would be tempted if I wasn't doing this no-buy moonstones and premium shop protest. I really hope Disney starts listening soon! I'm collecting my blue chests everyday just so I can have enough to do the new starpath when it comes out!!
I still think they need to add another 0 at the end of the moonstone amount. If I can get 145,000 moon stones for $50, I'd actually buy moonstones and keep buying them. That means, Disney would get $50 from me every 4 months....vs $0 at the current high price point. I think a lot of micro transaction games are so successful because they suck you in with a great deal so you keep coming back, not slapping you with a high price point to repel you.
First of all, I absolutely adore Dreamlight Valley. I got the most expensive version on a good sale and I play the game every day, so it was well worth the money for me. Until now, the moonstones from the pack were enough to buy everything I really wanted, but after getting the sweet house and the tart turtle, there's not a lot left. Even though I've been very picky with the items I bought and I collect the free moonstones every single day. It's sad because I enjoy the game so much, but these prices are impossible to defend.
I wish everyone would get on the same boat & stop buying with these ridiculous prices & just sit it out for a bit & wait for Disney to also get on the same boat. I'm not asking for free items, but I am asking for decently priced items. If I decided to purchase everything I absolutely loved in this game I would be in horrible financial trouble. It's just not worth it for me, I've pretty much stopped playing at the moment, I love the game but after this WALL-E quest having to be bought, I just can't. It's very saddening for me, as I love this game & had such high hopes.
Sims also has had a loyal fan base for yeeears. They also have custom content that other creators make that are free to download. DDV has none of this i think their prices are completely ridiculous for items you can’t even interact with and add nothing to the story it’s all just decor.
I’ve always thought the shop and moonstones were to expensive, but I didn’t realize just how expensive until I watched this video today and saw the comparison to SIMS. This is pure insanity.
@@cheesehead4670 yes it really sucks too cause there are so many things I’d love to buy but I can’t logically purchase one item for 13$ it’s absurd. Especially on a new game how am I supposed to know this game doesn’t flop in a year or two and all my moneys wasted. At least with sims you can literally play the game forever as long as you have a good pc.
What shocked me the most this week was the citrus turtle for 2000! I thought the whimsical compagnon pack with 4 pets at the same price was expensive, but now it's only one! And for sure more pets with the same theme are coming! It is less and less sustainable for casual players and it shows that gameloft is only interested in whales buying everything and not creating real fan base players from all horizons and financial capacity.
Worst thing is it’s digital content ya know! The game goes away and what you purchased ends up gone too. Growing up I couldn’t imagine spending my money on something that wasn’t tangible.
@@Apheelia77 I completely agree ! When there's a physical copy, I always buy this version. I hate the all digital era it's becoming! I remember the time you could lend your games to our friends, exchange some of them and multiplayer was only couch multiplayer! How is that now we can't lend something we paid for to someone even in our household ! Poor familles with multiple kids ! How is that I can play with a friend on the other side of the country and can't play with my family on the same couch without buying a second copy of the game, and even buying another console too? Sorry, I'm venting a bit... But I totally understand you !
@@Just_Alice. and now some companies I hear are actually going back and changing things on movies to fit the social climate! I wanna watch the originals sorry. Disney making me so mad lately lol
@@Just_Alice. omg yes! Every time I get something for a grandchild in order for them to play together they all need their own! Switches and games are literally making me poor 😂😫
Holy moly I didn't realize the star path wasn't going to give me back as many moonstones. I noticed I wasn't accumulating them very quickly, though. I'm so disappointed in this game as someone who bought the biggest founder's pack 😢
@@Ohwhale79No, it’s Gameloft. They brought the rights to use the characters and their stories. All Disney did was approve of the concept and sign a contract. Everything after that was, and is, Gameloft’s decision.
In Australia the largest pack of moonstones is $80 which is ridiculous. There are some really cute items, and I do understand that I don’t need everything from the premium shop and some things I honestly do not want because it doesn’t fit my style. However, with that being said I still think $80 for the highest moonstone pack is too high.
it's definitely overpriced, and I believe they're taking advantage of a group of people that may be represented by this game if you get my drift. which I actually have no problem with and I support that. I'm afraid the only thing that I can do to combat the high prices is to stop buying moonstones and in turn lose out on any cash shop items. The fact is is that I just can't afford to spend that much money all the time. maybe if I had it I would feel different about it, the cash that is. I really like the game and unfortunately the cash shop pricing just makes me play the game less.
They got this all wrong. Even Fortnite gives decent skins & tools/accessories for V-Bucks. I spent a good amount on OG Fortnite skins for a while. But I won't part with any cash 💸 rn for Dreamlight Valley. Waaaay over priced for small accessories, which don't affect gameplay. I'd rather they made those items attainable in Scrooges Store, and hit us up with some awesome DLC expansion packs. With characters & missions/quests etc
I’m teetering on whether to continue the game or not. Now that the first story arc is completed and, let’s call it Season 2, has been teased, how much of that will be behind a large paywall? In fairness, Season 1 (full current storyline) was well rounded, full of characters, items, and quests. They could say purchasers of the game got their money’s worth. That means they have to monetize Season 2 somehow. I agree with you, as a business they should be compensated somehow and they are going with Micro-transactions, but I really think we are just seeing the tip of the iceberg. Disney has never been cheap because people will pay that premium. While I can accept cosmetics are just not something I will be able to enjoy, the Wall-E quest paywall is what really upset me. I’m certain it was just the first. Your comparison to Sims 4 is good when you show value for your dollar, but I would like to point out if you purchased every Sims 4 expansion and items pack, you are literally spent over $1000. There are websites that keep track of Sims 4 cost because of how ridiculous the cost of the game has become. Is Dreamlight Valley worth it? I’m not certain anymore, and this becomes significantly more problematic due to Scrooge’s shop. His shop contains the free items we are supposed to be able to obtain to decorate or houses and biomes, but many items are so ridiculously rare that they really don’t exist, not in the casual gamers eye. If we can’t afford the extreme high cost/low quantity premium items, nor get the great free content, what exactly am I continuing to play for? As much as everyone complains on Twitter and every other platform, only money will change the developers perspective, and if prices are just going up it means despite the vocal complaints from the community the money everyone else is spending is worth the backlash.
Oh man I have to politely disagree. Anyone who bought a full priced founder's pack absolutely did not get their money's worth. Full video games cost around $60 USD and iirc the largest pack was $70? We purchased founder's packs with the promise that more would be coming down the line, the first arc doesn't have nearly enough content to justify the price I paid IMO. I seriously regret buying this if it continues down this path.
Unfortunate thing is, this isn’t just Disney that’s making them do this. Gameloft are known on their games to have expensive prices for their stuff. Asphalt (the racing mobile game), that unless you spend hundreds of hours playing 24/7 for the rest of your life, is essentially pay to win. Dragon Mania Legends, aren’t afraid to chuck some dragons behind a paywall, and to fully enjoy some of their events, you gotta pay up to buy benefits. Ice Age Village, there are animals that cost acorns (our equivalent of moonstones), and unless you spend years on this game, you’ll need to spend money on acorns to get those animals. Disney Magic Kingdoms, already a bunch of characters chucked behind paywalls, some of these characters you will need in some events, so essentially, pay to win. Minion Rush, while not pay to win, it’s in a similar situation to Asphalt in the sense of either spend money, or spend 24/7 just trying to get a different minion (I think there’s even some minions behind a paywall too). Same thing will happen to this and Speedstorm. Once DDV goes free, most newly added castle doors will likely be moonstones instead of Dreamlight, more character stories will be behind an expensive paywall. More ripoffs in the premium shop. And I’m sure Speedstorm will just go down the Asphalt route as they are both the same game with one being Disney and the other being real cars. I for the life of me, cannot see Gameloft listening to the fans regarding prices, not because Disney said no, it’s because they are also greedy with money themselves. No wonder Disney chose them now you think about it lol. But yeah, I’d love to be proven wrong, just can’t see it. Also off topic, I really think we’ll see a candy biome now they released that house. Like it fits no aesthetic of anywhere in the valley, Penelope and Ralph will be coming, as well as new frontiers.. I’m just saying👀 Sorry for the long message also, just unhappy with Gameloft/Disney rn lol, hope you’re doing well!
I appreciate your thoughts! A candy biome would actually be really cool! I agree with you though about the content paywalls. This is just the beginning!
Remember when DDV said the only thing moonstones would be used for is cosmetic items? Liars liars, pants on fire all over this place! Bam, Wall-E quest. I would not be surprised if they do exactly like you predict.
Walle dream bundle came out right after the reddit poll where he won favorite character and the Scrooge skin said "avaible in speacial event." It just feels more and more slimy and scammy, like we're being taken afvantage of.
Also, let's not overlook that 3/4ths of what was shown in all the teaser trailers for update 5 (that was touted as the biggest update) turned out to be paid content.
@@bodaciousb7097 it's honestly bizarre. What's even stranger is that after each premium shop update people immediately flock to Reddit to praise Gameloft for the great items and "reasonable" prices. Employees no doubt. They are 100% scamming us without a care in the world. We paid them to play beta, they took our money and used it to create paywalled content for which they ask us to give them more money. All the while the game is in beta. It's insane. Bare minimum effort for actual game content and bug fixes yet they somehow have time to continuously pump out content that costs us money.
every character says that next to new costume and wait for summer event, that took planning and to put that with wach character, a summer event was planned and NOW they say oh no that was a mistake,, really? really? someone accidentally came up with that idea, inserted that with each character and got everyone excited and then they simply say oh no that is mistake you have to PAY for those, mmmmhhhmm someone changed their minds is all and decided to make us PAY is all that is.
Can you imagine if someone had a child that played this game. It would be a nightmare with all the whining for the stuff... I dont think any young child should play this game
They are not thinking in foreigners players.. For me as a Brazilian, this cost me at least 4 times more… love DDLV, but it’s impossible to spend that amount of money
A player just gets 300 moonstone s a week which isn't enough to get anything in the shop....I had to miss the tool skins and still won't be able to this new house skin because i still won't have enough collected before the 6 days are up 😢
Doubtful they'll lower anything at this point because too many people are buying. I can mostly justify getting a house if I really want it to complete a biome layout (still overpriced), but not for these outfits and small items /companions.
@@jamiegames2022 you're absolutely right. I had plans to buy the Mike and Sully Apartment now that we can use them but I think that's the last purchase I'll make for a very long time. Who knows when that's even going to come around again as they're clearly only focusing on new premium shop items at this point. That candy house was likely going to be Vanellope's house (for free) anyway and they somehow didn't have the time to finish her. It's pretty insulting. Now they're charging us for it.
@@user-xt2rb3no5b They are still gonna bring Vanelope in the next update but I do think this house is themed around her. I'm curious what her house will be like now that you mention it!
@@jamiegames2022 I'm betting they either have her live with Ralph in his tower or she gets the castle from the movie. Although this house would have been perfect for her and I'm certain they opted to sell it which is the primary reason she was delayed. Similar issue with the Monster's Inc. characters - it's as if they've had these houses and characters designed for a long time and middle management is forcing the project manager to make them more money instead of doing what's right for the game in the long-run. An attitude of "just do it so we're more profitable now, and you can figure out the problems it causes later." I do truly love this game, as many of us do, but these decisions are really concerning... especially since we're still in beta 😑
i’m still trying to get through the first part of the story i love the game but my goodness man i’m not spending that much money for cosmetic items i just can’t. i wish they would focus on scrooges shop more , i keep getting the same crap & it’s making me mad at this point (can’t refresh on my switch) & plus this game isn’t gonna last long on switch they should’ve never said the game can be played on that console it crashes like crazy & i really don’t want to buy a new platform just to play one game that i may get tired of in the long run .. so upsetting 😢
Yeah, sadly they didn't do a good job converting for consoles IMO! This is clearly a built for PC game. I have a PS4 and it crashes constantly as well!
I think the problem is that the community seem to be quite new to games/ social media (at least that's my experience). On the subreddit I consistently see people defend Gameloft. I've seen people call others poor and cheap, and lots of "don't play the game if you don't like it"... which is just insane to me to defend Gameloft that hard. It's especially funny to me because I've been called cheap on there, but I could in theory buy out the shop each week. I also have 20k moonstones from ultimate and I STILL haven't spent any because I feel the items aren't worth the price tag. I feel scammed for buying the ultimate because the currency doesn't go as far as it should. I agree with you, the prices are uniquely bad in this game. I've seen players compare the prices to things like fortnite and overwatch, which is so disingenuous because a) those games have more content to engage with, decorating isn't THE gameplay there and b) they're multiplayer, you can show skins off to others. Never in my life have I heard for paying so much for AN NPC SKIN for example. It's crazy to me. Many of the community members on the Dreamlight subreddit were banned this week for criticizing monetization. Including myself. The mods there would remove comments so people couldn't see, and claimed the bans were for harassment. I know I didn't say a bad word to anyone, I know others didn't. It's just bizarre. A whole new community ended up getting created because people genuinely felt they couldn't actually talk about monetization without being banned or shouted down. Also your comparison to Hogwarts Legacy is important too and a good point. This game is not complete. This game doesn't currently have multiplayer or proper end game content apart from decorating. It's so weird how much everything costs in early access. I thought early access was for making improvements and listening to community feedback. We rarely get bug patches but they're putting in time and effort to make sure there's items for players to purchase and spend more money. It's insulting. The latest update included so many bugs that I know will stick around for a while. Gameloft doesn't care about player enjoyment, they just want a profit.
Reddit is a terrible place lol! But yes I agree with you completely! I’m not new to games like this and a lot of other creators here on TH-cam are experienced gamers as well and we all agree that the pricing doesn’t match the level of content. I don’t know why there are so many people defending it and being so mean to those of us that can’t afford all this stuff!
Always look forward to your videos Jamie and this is one of the many reasons why. You talk so much sense, are willing to speak truthfully and stand by your convictions, whilst appreciating and respecting that others may feel and will feel differently. That is a rare quality these days and I very much love listening to your rationale. Aye, it's sad. It's all about share holder profits. I do think it's irrelevant who they are, all businesses need to survive, but let's face it, it's not as if Disney are not. They literally own the planet these days, it feels like. I wasn't too bothered by not buying the items this time and likewise wanna save my moonstones. Not intending on buying any, so will hold off aswell. Daylight robbery eh! But the sad thing is, people will pay it, and that's why they do it.
Thank you so much! Your comment really means a lot to me! I think the only small hope I have for the situation to change is if people stop buying the moonstones for a while. It’s tough but I just don’t want to spend any more money on this until it feels worth it!
Thank you for covering this and voicing your concerns. I've been seeing these problems since they released the Premium shop back in February. Honestly, I'm just happy that it isn't just me experiencing these things.
Completely agree with you. I love this game, but having bought it for the Switch, I can't even play for 5 hours without it crashing 3 times. The level of greed that we're seeing is really dampening my desire to play it as much, especially since I'm out of quests and have a ton of items stored already. I don't think anything is going to change though. They know enough people will buy it to make it worth being greedy. It's sad but it isn't surprising.
Extremely valid points! I personally stopped making DLV videos, because it was getting too expensive which would be unrealistic for most viewers! Your comparison of The Sims was spot on!! I've played that franchise for years and you usually get good value for your investment. I really hope the DLV devs start listening to us about this issue.
I love Disney DV but the prices are a rip-off. It is such ashame as it ruins it for me. If everyone would stop buying, the prices would drop over night.
i only purchased moonstones once (for the christmas path) cause i didnt have enough but i wont buy anymore so ill be saving my moonstones for paths and if i want something from the store ill just have to wait, cause i dont ever wanna miss the path items
Omg that house and turtle skin!! I really want it but don’t have enough for it lol don’t even have enough for next star path. I’ve spent a lot on Fortnite skins for what they give is worth it to me. That new house is something I’d spend money on but not right now, gonna wait for it to cycle back in the shop later when I could afford it. i heard the company is use to doing gatcha games so they’re doing the same pricing for this game and if that is the case then it is failing so hope they fix it soon
Im not wasting money on a game that glitches more than Vanellope Von Sweets in wreck it ralph. i would but i am a switch player and its not worth the money and i refuse to start over for better game play and high in-game prices. thanks for this vid
Great video ❤❤❤ I don’t play the Sims, but your comparison is great and easy to understand that I AM BEING RIPPED OFF 😢 Also thanks for the slick game recs.
The sims isn’t really a good comparison it is the most cash grabby, buggy game there is, they constantly recycle gameplay and build/cas items. The base game is basically unplayable because it comes with nothing, you have to buy dlc for it to even be somewhat fun. The community has had issues with it as well.
I put items into my house and they disappeared, I contacted the developers and they didn’t respond to that either. I don’t think they realise how much time we put into these games to get items and earn in-game currency. It’s so frustrating 😕
they ignore literally everything. i sent a ticket about never getting the rgb items from twitch and gave proof that i claimed them and didn't get em in the mailbox, got no reply for two months now, and counting
I bought the deluxe version...and then went and bought the ultimate version because I wanted all the items and more moonstones! So yeah I have spent to much on this game also lol They should just change the moonstone bundle prices...$1.99 , $4.99 , $9.99 and $19.99 respectively. That would help lower the costs for players and stop the items from being as expensive in terms of real life dollars... But also , need to look at this Developers other games...especially Disney Magic Kingdoms...they are notorious price gougers for minor content there...and we are still waiting for a real expansion with more land plots for sale!
I don’t know if anyone has completed the level 10 fairy godmother quest but I’m stuck at the part were we need 80 dry wood and I’ve been on this quest for a couple of days and i only can get 69. Can someone help me ASAP?
you mentioned how they respond to the bugs I just saw a video last night from a content creator for Nintendo switch and they and most of the comments of their video said that the game barely runs on the switch. and I was looking forward to getting it for the switch and now I'm not going to.
yes the game is notorious for not functioning well on the twitch and they have made fixes here and there. I think they are really struggling with the stabilization on the Switch. That's an ongoing issue for sure!
I honestly think that they should have waited until the game is free I understand that they want to sort out the kinks and of the preumimum shop before its free but we have already spent money for early acesse and you expect us to pay more in the premium shop. I had a feeling that this was going to be the reaction when they first announced the shop. Not happy, plus I know that with the Walle bundle you had to do something to get it for free but I wonder how many people forgot like me.
I agree, 4000 Moonstones seems a bit much for a single character bundle. In my opinion, if it were a style pack for the 4 Princesses (for example) I could live with that price. Tbh, I'm hopeful the Premium Realms we might be getting get will be reasonably priced?
I was so sad when I saw this update and saw the crazy 4000 moonstone thing for a couple Wall-E quests. Never before have I felt like giving up on this game.
It is even worse for those of us in Canada. The largest moonstone package costs $69.99 - a difference of plus $20.00. Even though I have loved the game so far, the Premium Shop and the micro-transactions for gameplay are out of reach. Maybe if the daily moonstone chests offered 200 moonstones instead of 50, I would be able to participate in *some* of these purchases.
One thing that’s ironic is one of the conversations with the forgotten is them asking about how the adult world is or being an adult and one of the options is that it’s terrible. And honestly it is terrible because all we do is work work work, many with an unliveable wage and the prices of everything in life is pretty ridiculously high, including these premium prices which is one of the reasons that adulthood is terrible! If that made sense haha
Way, way, way too expensive! I tried to keep up but holy crap this update is a bank breaker. I spent enough, I'm quitting dreamlight valley. Gonna buy a premium game, it's cheaper in the long run. These pay to play games are out of hand.
Great video! I spent $85 on Animal Crossing which includes a DLC that gave a boatload of content. I have over 2200 hours in that and I’m planning to play it over again. I don’t expect every game to be like that but DDLV I have a ton less hours and have already spent more than that and they want to charge an obscene amount regularly. It’s crazy
The premium shop is so outrageously overpriced. I would be fine with the moonstones being at the price point they are if they had a better in-game value, but they have almost zero. I would be willing to pay max $5 for the houses/tools or items like the WallE bundle. The pet reskins, clothing & furniture bundles, random items are a max of $2-3. But instead they think $8-15 is a reasonable price. While people are struggling to pay bills, they want to charge $$$ for cosmetic items. The way this EA period has progressed, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the base game remains $30-70 indefinitely and they never make it F2P. Aside from the moonstones being so expensive, gameplay itself just isnt that involving. I've essentially stopped playing. After the Christmas update, I began to play to finish every star path in a couple of days then not touch the game until the next star path. With this last one, I can’t seem to even finish the star path. I haven't unlocked FG or Simba/Nala. I havent upgraded Stitch or Mirabelle. The daily playability is nil. Ive found moderately priced games like My Time at Sandrock, Dinkum and Coral Island offer way more appeal. And they are definitively priced with structured updates and are clearly moving toward a release. I havent seen any new functionality released in 9 months that leads me to believe DDV devs are moving that way. They are still working out bugs, yes, but the above mentioned games have done the same while adding things like multiplayer, expanded storylines and maps, new NPC's, relationships, etc. It just feels like once they realized people were willing to pay, they decided getting more money from players was the only way to go. The WallE expansion wasnt enough to warrant the cost and it took valuable time away from them producing aspects DDV promised (ie multiplayer, more characters, bug fixes-some of which go back to EA release). The premium shop wasn't even supposed to open until after full release, yet its a primary focus- the WallE content is a prime example. I'm at the point now that I regret spending money on it at all. $70 is too much for a game I play for 2-4 days every other month. I'm not saying others should feel that way, I definitely don't need or want any DDV Heroes riding to avenge this game, but for me, personally, speaking ONLY FOR MYSELF, its a purchase I wish I had waited on.
Missed out so many skin for houses can not get wish they let us use dream light use it to expand the house 10,000 moon stone per floors and 8,000 for large rooms
The devs really make me want to abandon this game until it becomes free-to-play. We only get 100 moonstones a day, but that's only if your chests even work. Many people, myself included, have reported the chests not opening despite being connected to the Internet. These players HAVE to depend on buying overpriced moonstones, which really sucks.
Yeah I'm not buying starpath right now either because i just can't afford it. Also haven't bought items in store, just cost too much, I enjoy the game just not the price of everything Thank you for discussing this ❤
Great video breaking it all down! The prices really are crazy and it feels bad that they don't even address it. Hopefully somthing will change because if they keep at it, more people will lose interest 😔
The bugs are definitely still a problem though. My game crashes on the switch at least twice a day and from what I’ve seen this has been a problem for months. :/
Gameloft has been price gouging on their mobile game Disney Magic Kingdoms for years. On that game, they lock content behind pay walls, made it impossible to complete quests or obtain characters without spending real money and lastly, ignored any and all criticism about all of it. Sound familiar? It should, as they're now repeating that pattern with Disney Dreamlight Valley.
And this is why I don’t like ftp games. I had the game for free with game pass and I bought the ultimate for switch. To get the extra moonstones I bought the ultimate during a sale for Xbox (first got it on sale for my ps5 and then realized it’s actually not cross platform with ps5 which I should’ve remembered because Sony sucks with that) and it was all for the last premium shop, wall-e bundle and premium star path. Now I’ve see the new house and turtle and while I want those, the game is just kind of stagnant for me so I won’t be buying anything with moonstones anymore besides the starpath. I’d rather them make the game not free to play and you just pay for expansions like any other normal franchise. Like when World of Warcraft started you just paid x amount every year for the new expansion (obviously you had to pay a monthly sub fee but it is an online computer game.) Now of course even paid games have paid shop items for another example Diablo 4. If you played a variety of games that all had these stupid cosmetic paywalls you’d never have any money. I get they have to make money but they chose to make it ftp play so they need to actually make it so if you have no money you can still get everything without spending hundreds of dollars or you know not make it free to play because let’s face it, if the cost you spend on moonstones each month is around 30 dollars that’s a really high subscription for a game that’s not even online. They are definitely ruining it for me. They say you don’t have to pay but they know what they’re doing. They took the character outfits off the starpath because they know you want character outfits so they make that cost real money. I’ve spent way too much money on ftp games and personally I’d rather pay $100 to get everything I want fro the game instead of $100 every few months so I can have all the things.
The crazy state of gaming when you start to compare this to the Sims 4 which is notorious for cash grab complaints right now in comparison to what we were getting from Sims 1-3
Yeah I really stopped playing the sims when it just became far too much to keep up with. But looking at these prices for moonstones it's making the Sims look reasonable which is insane!
This on top of the fact that we all already paid to play early for a game that will be free in the future....I'm not buying anymore premium shop items and if this doesn't improve i wont be playing anymore. Sad because I love Disney.
Personally i am a casual player and when i saw the store for the first time i thought ouch thats a bit expensive. This is the first video i have seen about the games and didnt realise it was early access let alone charging for questlines.
While I understand that people would prefer if there wasn't a cash shop, this game will be free to play when it fully releases. As someone who plays alot of F2P games ranging from single player to mmorpgs, one thing they all have in common is a cosmetic cash shop. It doesn't really ruin the game, if you don't wanna spend your money on it, then don't. But a cash shop was to be expected to arrive at some point. The most they might do, is maybe, hopefully lower prices.
SOLID point and great correlation to The Sims. Base game is free for Sims now, and they still charge reasonably. We’re definitely getting played because Disney can charge extra just for its name 🙄
I don't buy everything. That said, I do buy the one thing I want the most from the Premium Shop refresh. Sometimes I don't want anything. I would have done the Wall E if It gave half of the moonstones back by doing the quest.
I'm waiting for it to be released all the way..im not buy anything for a game that still soft locks..still giving me that error and exting out of the game by force. Till then I'm super low on moonstones..
So here are some things that those who are complaining about people having a fair critique of the pricing seem to miss. 1. Disney payed Gameloft to delop this game. Devs don't work for free. 2. Unless you got the basic version on gamepass which is free the company is making money back from everyone who payed to get early access(which has been like 9 months now). 3. They are getting money from moonstone sales. I have no people buying game conent if it's worth the prices. How they can fix this. Events don't cost moonstones to unlock "premium items" but you can still buy moonstones to buy extra tickets. Lower the price of moonstones over all. As far as the shop, offer all 4 items in the bundle for like $10 and they gift you an x number of moonstones that you can use to buy more tickets to get more stuff in the events. I'm afraid this isn't where the pay wall will end. The Lion King realm cost 10,000 dreamlight. I have a feeling new realms will be put behind pay walls to.
Makes me wish they would just have 1 initial $60 charge instead of going free-to-play with micro transactions. After reading some of the comments, I’m nervous about this game’s future.
I do agree that a lot of the items in the games do have questionable prices. For example, I feel like the turtle should cost at most 1,000 moonstones. I am still going to play the game but I’m probably am going to start limiting myself to the stuff I buy in the game.
Capcom Street Fight 6 game after paying 4.99 for 250 fighter coins you can get your 250 Fighter coins back after you complete full battle pass. Maybe gameloft need do the same thing with the star pass. In my opinion moonstones should be $1 for every 1000 moonstones. $50 for 14,500 is a ripoff 30,000 or 40,000 is a fair price for $50 worth
I think I have enough with sims 4 already, it’s the game I buy basically almost every pack and to spend here on 2 items for doubles the price of sims expansions is so not worth it to me. I would love to have an option to grind for moonstones… not just 50 a day
Mr. Star in the sky said something about this but he was riding the fence about criticizing the developers and Gameloft. That is what I got from his video.
We all need to agree to not buy untill they lower the prices....if we dont then no change will happen, prices will stay the same or even get more expensive in the future. It just sucks
Thank you for talking about this! I love this game and I’ve been playing from day one. Like you I’m frustrated about the moonstone “pay to play” strategy that Gameloft has. They completely ruined the another Disney game by going down the same road (Disney Magic Kingdoms - app)
I'm still holding on to my moonstones that you get from buying access to the game. Once those run out I will likely not buy anything from the premium shop.
As you said, thay listen to the community's complaints about everything just not when it comes to the part that makes them money. It is frustrating and unfair, but the only thing that will get their attention and make them willing to change the pricing and such is if people STOP buying moonstones. Sadly the only thing big companies care about and understand is if you their their wallet. 😢 as long as there are people that are willing to spend their money buying moonstones at the current prices there is no encentive for Disney to change it. So as sad and devastated I am to hear about content creators boycotting the shop or game all together I believe that is the only way to show Disney that we want things to change. 😭 Hopefully if enough people do it, they will listen. 😱😬🤞🏻
I agree with the price of moonstones to price and number of items of weekly premium shop items. I would not call sims 4 packs micro transactions. That’s not comparable. Those are dlcs. I would compare to Hogwarts mystery micro transactions, which is more comparable. If you compare to that, I would agree these transactions are overpriced for what you get.
Uninstalled dreamlight valley as i saw the aggressive monetization of the fresh released disney speedstorm game from gameloft… Have not bought any moonstones either since i thought the value what i get isn’t worth the hard earned real money. I’d rather make it affordable for everyone instead of just feeding whales and making majority of players upset with their greedy monetization lol. And this WallE pack is just the beginning of locking more content behind continuously raising paywalls.
The thing is though, we don't need any of these items to play through or progress the game. We don't need to buy every single item the shop has to offer every single week. I look at this like the World of Warcraft or Final Fantasy XI stores and those are PAY to play monthly sub games to boot. I don't really think the prices are that bad, just don't buy stuff if you can't afford it and only buy what you absolutely have to have.
Like I said in the video, it's not that paying is the issue... it's that the items value don't match the cost. Especially compared to other free-to-play games. And soon content updates will cost money and that's when the real problems will start!
@@demaaarrr I tried to address comments like this in the video to avoid it in the comments, but I could deep dive MORE into comparing other games if that's a thing you'd be interested in seeing? There are LOTS of other games that have this microtransaction system and in my experience, nothing has compared to the outrageous pricing in this game. The level of content has to be there for the amount they are asking people to spend. It's like going to a restaurant. You go expecting for the food to match the price. You wouldn't tell someone who had a bad experience at a restaurant that they shouldn't be mad because they didn't HAVE to eat out. No one is FORCING you to go out to eat... but you still expect for the food to be worth the money you spent on it. Right? That's more the point I'm trying to make in this video. I hope that makes sense and helps you (and anyone else reading this) understand why the complaints are valid!
If you can’t afford to buy it, then don’t. Fine, fair point. However, imagine paying full price for a game and then find out they are holding some of the premium free content as hostage, content you already paid for, in order to compel you to spend additional money on premium content. That’s what’s going on here, and this knowledge occurs after you pay full price for the game.
@@demaaarrr I pay for both WoW & FFXIV monthly and if I want to buy mounts or outfits in the stores, mounts cost $25 in WoW, anywhere from $20-$30 in FFXIV and outfits cost around $18 in FFXIV. I know I don't have to buy this cosmetic stuff but I buy some if I have the money because I like it and I like to support the game. Obviously it's not that overpriced because people ARE buying it.
I feel like they're playing a dumb tactic. Coz sure SOME people are buying their over priced digital game crap. But that's only a certain demographic (mostly rich) of people. Sure that amount means nothing to them. Amd them maybe take advantage of the super hard-core fans who would go broke and not eat just to get every item in the premium shop. But everyone else, who is probably the mass majority of the players, can't afford such outrageous high priced for stuff that doesn't really matter. If they were to make it affordable they'd probably make up What they get now in sales and then some, because you have a bigger pool of people willing to spend their money, and then some because new people would want to get the game. Compared to hearing bad reviews of the game and never buy it at all. They would get so many more sales by lowering the price of premium or add a lot more moonstone quantity to the packs you can buy.
Disney has my childhood heart. But not my wallet anymore.
The loudest feedback is us refusing to give them our money. If they won't listen to what we want, we won't give them what they want. Sorry not sorry, Disney ❤
It's not even Disney, it's Gameloft. They did the same with their mobile game Disney Kingdoms.
Yeah I’m not paying the price is that they’re asking for their 3/4 over priced dropping prices by 75% boys and then we’ll start buying!
I 100% agree. If fifty dollars can't buy you everything, it's too much.
For me it more then enough unlike another game I play
RIGHT???
And gameloft don't change the star path like every month like other pay or free game company do. I almost done with Street fighter 6 summer battle pass for this month intill next month and you get 250 back after spending 250 Fighter Coins for premium battle pass
I'm dying a little on the inside because I can't buy that cute little sweet house!!! I can't afford it anyway but I sure would be tempted if I wasn't doing this no-buy moonstones and premium shop protest. I really hope Disney starts listening soon! I'm collecting my blue chests everyday just so I can have enough to do the new starpath when it comes out!!
Yeah I'm sad about the candy house but I'm MORE excited for the next star path because I love spooky season!
@@jamiegames2022 DEFINITELY! Same! Spooky season is the best season of all! 🎃
2000 moonstones for a pet is a damn joke
Especially when a few weeks back they had a group of 4 companions for the same price
Yeah, and Disney is laughing all the way to the bank!
@@Ohwhale79Gameloft*
@@dijahmedi4882lol. Nope. Disney*
Yea it's bs
it's definitely overpriced, and I believe they're taking advantage of a group of people that may be represented by this game if you get my drift. which I actually have no problem with and I support that.
I'm worried about it getting worse when the game goes free to play. 🥺
and these prices for moonstones is in USD. In CAD the price is a lot more... the largest bundle is $69.99 which is ridiculous
In Australia we pay $75.95 for the huge bundle of moonstones on PS5 platform. It’s an outrage
You are so on point girl. Like I keep saying I'm done using my real money till at least the pricing goes down..
I'm right there with ya
im not spending money on the shop. i'm gonna save my moonstones for the star path. here's to hoping they dont change the star path price.
Yeah I'm afraid for when they want us to pay for the big content updates. It's hard to say it will be worth it.
I totally agree with everything in this comment!
I that case, I suppose I should start saving for the essentials.
no the walle dream bundle was totally not worth the money
A player just gets 300 moonstone s a week which isn't enough to get anything in the shop....I had to miss the tool skins and still won't be able to this new house skin because i still won't have enough collected before the 6 days are up 😢
Ugh i want the turtle but not worth 2k. Should be 1750 or 1200. House skins should be 1800. I got only 4750 moonstones so nope
Doubtful they'll lower anything at this point because too many people are buying. I can mostly justify getting a house if I really want it to complete a biome layout (still overpriced), but not for these outfits and small items /companions.
@@user-xt2rb3no5b It's really gonna take people not buying this stuff anymore unfortunately
An attitude of "just do it so we're more profitable now, and you can figure out the problems it causes later."
I do truly love this game, as many of us do, but these decisions are really concerning... especially since we're still in beta 😑
i’m still trying to get through the first part of the story i love the game but my goodness man i’m not spending that much money for cosmetic items i just can’t. i wish they would focus on scrooges shop more , i keep getting the same crap & it’s making me mad at this point (can’t refresh on my switch) & plus this game isn’t gonna last long on switch they should’ve never said the game can be played on that console it crashes like crazy & i really don’t want to buy a new platform just to play one game that i may get tired of in the long run .. so upsetting 😢
Yeah, sadly they didn't do a good job converting for consoles IMO! This is clearly a built for PC game. I have a PS4 and it crashes constantly as well!
I am so nervous that they are going to pay wall certain characters or realms. It's going to turn into Pay to Enjoy.
Yup I deffiently could see that happening.
But we paid for the game! I'm not putting any more money in the game!
DDV is also just way to slow and laggy to be charging this much for skins
Thank you for covering this and voicing your concerns. I've been seeing these problems since they released the Premium shop back in February. Honestly, I'm just happy that it isn't just me experiencing these things.
I appreciate that!
It's sad but it isn't surprising.
i payed $70 for the game now I also gotta pay extra if I want to be able to have premium items, it sucks
Ha try being in Australia, it costs me $80-90 for the big pack of moonstones lol
I know other countries it looks like more but I think that’s a currency exchange rate thing. Should be equivalent to US dollars but yes still sucks!
Thanks!!!
Honestly, that greenhouse pack and the pricing makes me tempted to try the Sims now
The sims isn’t really a good comparison it is the most cash grabby, buggy game there is, they constantly recycle gameplay and build/cas items.
I'm so sorry to hear that!
Even more expensive on Mac.
they ignore literally everything. i sent a ticket about never getting the rgb items from twitch and gave proof that i claimed them and didn't get em in the mailbox, got no reply for two months now, and counting
I’m so sorry 😢
I bought the deluxe version...and then went and bought the ultimate version because I wanted all the items and more moonstones! So yeah I have spent to much on this game also lol
They should just change the moonstone bundle prices...$1.99 , $4.99 , $9.99 and $19.99 respectively.
Does anyone know if its on play store or google play?
you mentioned how they respond to the bugs I just saw a video last night from a content creator for Nintendo switch and they and most of the comments of their video said that the game barely runs on the switch. and I was looking forward to getting it for the switch and now I'm not going to.
yes the game is notorious for not functioning well on the twitch and they have made fixes here and there.
Anyone who's played Kingdoms on mobile knows Gameloft is notorious for extreme prices 😑 it's ridiculous with them
I was so sad when I saw this update and saw the crazy 4000 moonstone thing for a couple Wall-E quests.
It’s crazy
@stevenspinel7269 yeah some of the premium items aren’t even designed well and I’m shocked they would charge for them like the tshirts and umbrellas.
I agree with literally everything you said!!!!
Yes, thank you! I agree with literally all of this!
Also haven't bought items in store, just cost too much, I enjoy the game just not the price of everything
Thank you for discussing this ❤
Great video breaking it all down! The prices really are crazy and it feels bad that they don't even address it. Hopefully somthing will change because if they keep at it, more people will lose interest 😔
No regrets on buying the turtle 🐢 I love it 🥰
I Agree… it’s WAYYY to much money 😞😞👎🏻
The bugs are definitely still a problem though. My game crashes on the switch at least twice a day and from what I’ve seen this has been a problem for months. :/
Gameloft has been price gouging on their mobile game Disney Magic Kingdoms for years. On that game, they lock content behind pay walls, made it impossible to complete quests or obtain characters without spending real money and lastly, ignored any and all criticism about all of it. Sound familiar? It should, as they're now repeating that pattern with Disney Dreamlight Valley.
You know it's bad when its making The Sims 4 kits look good
And this is why I don’t like ftp games.
Gameloft was like this with their apps too. Not surprised they're ignoring complaints.
This on top of the fact that we all already paid to play early for a game that will be free in the future....I'm not buying anymore premium shop items and if this doesn't improve i wont be playing anymore. Sad because I love Disney.
It's Disney they are going to do this because they can and they know we will pay the price
sadly yes!
@jamiegames2022 why????? Because we have done it all these years, and part of us loves to do it secretly
Yeah the shop isn’t my issue personally. It’s the cost vs the quality of content. Just not getting enough for the money!
How to get this wings wow
They were from a previous star path!
Imagine if all the community decided to stop paying for anything in DLV.
I love him! I don't think he wants to be negative in any way toward the game but even he admitted that the prices are too high.
We all need to agree to not buy untill they lower the prices....if we dont then no change will happen, prices will stay the same or even get more expensive in the future. It just sucks
The problem is not everyone will. It’s hopeless and pointless to even try.
Thank you for talking about this! I love this game and I’ve been playing from day one. Like you I’m frustrated about the moonstone “pay to play” strategy that Gameloft has. They completely ruined the another Disney game by going down the same road (Disney Magic Kingdoms - app)
it is not free to play when you have to pay for it to get it
I'm still holding on to my moonstones that you get from buying access to the game. Once those run out I will likely not buy anything from the premium shop.
Um.....it's disney ever been to one of there parks
The sims brand can’t compare to the Disney empire so they can give us 27 item for $10 meanwhile DDLV is making us pay for items AND the brand.
Great and informative video!
thank you!
yeah this video was very well done
Uninstalled dreamlight valley as i saw the aggressive monetization of the fresh released disney speedstorm game from gameloft…
Have not bought any moonstones either since i thought the value what i get isn’t worth the hard earned real money.
I’d rather make it affordable for everyone instead of just feeding whales and making majority of players upset with their greedy monetization lol.
And this WallE pack is just the beginning of locking more content behind continuously raising paywalls.
I’m worried this game will be unplayable once it’s free to play. I think they are going to make the doors in the dream castle cost money to open.
When EA has better prices than you there's a problem 😂
I KNOW RIGHT??
Yeah, if your game is less or just as expensive as the premium items in it, then you're probably getting greedy with the premium stuff
You're lucky! Moonstone packs cost TWICE as much in my country/currency and I'm a really bad impulse buyer
@@demaaarrr Exactly!
I only play when they have updates now, Ill be alright just playing my sims until we get updates.
