Book of mysteries does not need to be found in specifically Golden mystery boxes. The wiki is wrong, You can find them in regular mystery boxes as I did. Easiest way to get a ton is just get as many calico eggs as you can from the desert festival and you can buy up to 10 a day of over the course of the 3 day festival.

One thing that these books add, specifically "Jewels Of The Sea", is Legendary Fish Roe. Someone on Reddit already posted this, but when they fished up Glacierfish Jr, they got a Glacierfish Jr Roe, thanks to the book. So, if you're a collector, hold off on fishing up the legendaries until you read Jewels Of The Sea, or Ape makes it so you can't obtain Roe from Legendary Fish.
Do uou get more money when uou ship legendary roe? Is this just for molders or will this come to consoles to. In the past uou couldn't put legendary in fish ponds
That was me, glad to see other people spreading the word! :) Definitely one of my favorite parts of the update. I finished my iridium quality fish collection in 1.5 and this gave me something new to work towards!
Also if you have extra books, you can give them to characters, and some have dialogue about it. (Learned this unpacking the XNBs again to update said custom NPC)
One of Willy’s loved gifts is actually one of the fishing ones. I forget which one but the game had it listed as if I had previously given him one even though I myself haven’t found that specific fishing book yet.
You don't actually need to have golden mystery boxes for the book of mysteries, I've gotten it and don't have access to the golden boxes. It's possible to get it from the normal boxes.
I explained it to my mom like "You know when they remaster a game 20 years later and it's basically a sequel. That but it hasn't been 20 years and it's still not $60"
half of them are mods being integrated into game, other half are same old stuff but more of them now the queen of sauce cookbook even has the same icon as the mod, obviously he got permission from mod author to integrate it but nothing new unless you play it on mobile
the skill books also work towards the mastery bar, I got an entire bar level halfway just from reading the books, so even if your skills are maxed they are still useful
Its because its experience towards that skill, which is converted to mastery once at that step, so probably only worth trading in once done with mastery, and saving them up if maxed with the skill but not unlocked mastery
@@pairot01 You can read them for mastery, but you don't need to. You can get exp just by harvesting crops, killing monsters and doing things that normally gets you exp.
I had no idea the books were even a thing until the monster loot one dropped off a random slime in a lower level of the mines. They’re such a cool addition to the game, I love the added effects
The friendship book is guaranteed as the 5th prize ticket item and you get prize tickets from the Shoreview request board....waaay more consistent than the egg festival, which happens once per year

i know im spoiling it for myself by watching the vids but i dont mind, its exciting to see the new stuff i can get to play with when the console update comes. oh a tiny question will you make a vid regarding the dehydrator and fish smoker to see how good they are and possibly the new looks for the juice, pickels, jellys etc at least for some of em
One thing I found out is that dehydrator is good for abundant stuff with low selling price per item like blueberry, cranberry, salmonberry and blackberry
The raccoon seeds drops will very depending on the season you are currently so if you had opened that mystery box on spring it would have been carrot seeds

In particular , many thanks for the two “secret” book locations which I would never have found by chance! Im really enjoying the update, the alternative ways to upgrade experience by buying books has rejuvenated my love for this game. The desert festival is awesome!
It is not, squid kid is an enemy in this game. It's more likely Squid Kid (techno's) named himself after this. Or because squid and kid rhyme so it sounded nice. But either way it's not a reference. Also I believe techno and squid kid are both no longer with us. R.I.P Legends

I wish there was more to do with books later in-game when you have more money and less to do with it. As is, most books give XP, a small reward like 100 wood, or some other benefit that is more appreciated early game when the funds are lacking, or you have better things to do like tool upgrades and animals. More kinds of books and booksellers could be fun. Imagine if we could buy and read the Solarion Chronicles and it teleported us to another world to fight monsters. Or that other book Sebastian mentioned. Or more DnD scenarios you could invite different NPC's to, and they'd all take to it differently. Or fancy cookbooks detailing quests to whip up great feasts for the whole town (with help from Gus and Junimos). Or old resistance newspapers from the Gotaro Empire, Ferngill market reports, and news from other towns.
Note that you can get the Book of Mysteries from ANY Mystery Box. I've gotten two from opening basic Mystery Boxes, so no, it is not exclusive to the Golden variant.

Mystery books are not found only in gold mystery boxes, I got mine from the normal blue mystery box.
the jewels of the sea book is so nice i got pretty early on in my playtru and whit remixed bundles on i dident need to build fish ponds for the bundle
Don't forget their is an achievement for reading all books
im not kiddin I got 2 prismatic shards just 10 or less mystery boxes away from each other processed in same time. My mind was blown

Im confused. do you read the book and dissapears? or you keep the bonus forever or just for a certain time?
the books get added to your wallet where your other bonus items get put like the key for the sewers and bears knowledge. so its a permanent upgrade.
Be sure to read the experience books if your maxed out but haven't reached full mastery! the XP counts towards mastery!
Book prices are high for spring year one!
