Hi Maya, Thanks for sharing your journey. I have watched a few videos and I want to share a few things that I hope will interest you, let's hope you haven't addressed these in earlier video's or these will be not helpful any more: 1. Don't be annoyed by fast growth of plants/trees. Biomass is your friend to improve the soil on your terraces. Ideally you would have a wood chipper to cut all the biomass in small pieces and create a great mulch or compost. 2. Try to place your pump based on water clarity/quality. There are very cheap 12V or 24V (50 EURO) pumps that can create 30 m of head. these can easily fill water tanks that you can place higher than the cabin, so you have gravity fed water. With a year round stream, you even have the possibility to install a RAM pump, these don't even require electricity and can pump water up very high too. (at a slower pace, but perfect to fill a water tank) 3. A lot of people struggle with off grid solar when the rains come and block the sun for a while. You have the perfect anti-dote for that, I could only dream of a water wheel like you already have. How difficult is it to replace the water pipes to feed the water back to the water wheel? A generator on that water wheel axel and "Bob 's your uncle". 4. Try looking into the Battery powered strimmers, not only will you save money on fuel (and fuel to go buy the fuel), but these require infinitely less maintenance than these petrol powered strimmers (and start every time with the push of a button). write some of the brands (ego, Bosch, Dewalt, Greenworks, Makita, Black and Dekker, skill, Husqvarna etc... Bosch has really good professional ones) they might even send you one to unbox on your channel. Or even robo mowers to keep the grass short once it is manageable 5. Long term you will probably need a bigger inverter and bigger batteries as the more electricity you have, the more you will use and we will all have electric cars soon ;). 6. Carrying loads of material up terraces or stairs gets old very quickly try thinking about installing 2 strong posts at the top and the bottom of your slope. pull a steel cable between them and you can pull up stuff on a trolley Have a nice day!
Hi ya! Love the videos, one trick for storing vegetables and fruit is in sawdust filled crates, lasts wayyyy longer than the fridge, you end up with months of life over weeks in a fridge :)
"taking over hand" = "überhand nehmen" - this is a serious case of germanizing the english language and a very lovely one, too. So probably the hedges are "getting out of hand". So happy for you to have a fridge and an e-bike AND a helpful brother. Great video!
I love when intelligent people who are not native English speak or write in English as the results are often charmingly, and occasionally beautifully poetic.
It's great to see that you have a fridge!😊 well done on all your hard work! As a plant lover and gardener, I think you should get some lovely herbascious borders going! That will help the insect population, and therefore, the whole eco-system!!!😊😊😊😊
Its amazing what your doing, you work so hard at what you do on the land. I like the bike. I just love the look on your face when you recieve the simplest of things like a fridge. Your the best and your truely genuine. Thank you for making me smile. Xx💕
Greetings from Vermont, USA! This channel is so wholesome and entertaining and inspiring!😊 Also, really clever idea to use a plastic bin in the water for a fridge👌
I love watching all your stories of living on your land. Such an adventure! I love your energy as you pursue all your tasks, often singing or dancing. And your wonderful infectious smile is always an inspiration. I am happy that you do get some help with your projects. I love the plans you have, too. It's a lovely gift to be able to watch everything unfold. Thank you for sharing your story! 🥰
Once you clear it up, your land looks amazing. I'd recommend for the terraces that you have plans for things (gardens, camping, drive way, what not.) lay down some weed cloth, or weed barrier, and it will block the sun from getting to the plants under it, and they will die out and then not come back after a year or so, which will allow you to till it up a little easier, and then progress with your plans for the land.
Oh yes, and anything to reduce the effort at keeping your land looking beautiful, but controlled. Is a good thing. I just hope that my suggestions help, this time of year is too hot for hard work, you need more relaxation and swimming time.
Maya, so good to see you today! Very fun video you are doing some amazing work. Are the walls made of limestone material? That is a super fun bike you will love that for a long time!! The bike looks very solid and strong. The gate looks so beautiful when you went through the gate I remember the video you were working on it. I love to see how happy you are for all the accomplishments as you complete the tasks. I am so happy for you. Peace and blessings have a very safe summer bye for now, Steven
Mayia so proud of you you turning it into a peace of heaven just one piece of advice don't over work that strimmers let it cool down and clean up at intervals and keep head on it regularly greased it will last for years iv sa. Mé Model they great machine do same to all the accessories from Jimmy in Ireland
I am so in awe of how you catch and release insects. Even BIG spiders. I find myself killing them in sorrow. But I’m too lazy/old to catch one and carry it upstairs and outside. Your energy is infectious. You rock the Kasba. ♥️ -Lori, from Sturgis, Michigan, USA
Wonderful to have your brother helping you Maya. I wonder if he would like to move on to your land at some point in the future? The bike and fridge added to your other upgrades - so marvellous for you. Blessings.. Hilaryxx
You should make a sweat lodge, with all those branches, good for your health to take a sweat bath gets rid of toxins, and impurities. Or with those long pieces you could tie them together, for a grape arbor, or ever an arbor for shade
With that amount of water in your land the mimosas and eucalyptus will not stop growing, and will invade more and more. So, if you want to do something about it You have 3 (not definitive) solutions. 1- excavator , digging all the roots. Its a big mess, and the mimosas still will regrow from seeds and a few leftover roots. 2- cut to the ground, and then cut and cut again, for several years, 3 or 4 times a year, every litle branch and leaves that appear, until you exaust the roots. 3 - herbicide, people hate it, but some times its the most ecologic solution. You will need several aplications as it will still regrow a few times, but it faster, less expensive, and more definitive, without damaging the land and your back. You can try a combination of those 3 tecniques. Anyway,on the big steepy hill on the back of the house, those trees are holding the land better then anyother could. And a big eucalyptus or mimosa, with space to grow sideways are wonderfull beautifull shade teees. Good luck.
Honestly so happy for you and the new fridge!! 😁 watching all the hard work and progress from London, UK. Little idea, if you want to keep the weeds down; maybe after strimming lay down some cardboard and then a small layer of wood chips… it’s a natural way to block out the light for weeds but also good for soil in the long run. God bless
I just came across your videos only yesterday and its been really nice binge watching your journey :) it's very inspiring and I want to do something similar in my own country!
Hi from Seattle, Washington in the U.S.! I love watching your adventures and hard work! So inspiring! Can’t wait to see what is next for you and your homestead! Thank you for sharing your story! Sara
Hi Maya 🎉wow you both worked so hard, great job done, now looks amazing. Not keen on that snake. Need a mask on with all that dusting. Just a tip if you are brushing a dusty floor lightly sprinkle with water keeps the dust down. Tony ❤️🇬🇧 xx
Maya so proud of all you have set your mind to do accomplishments at their finest. Please share foods of the culture when you get a chance. Faithfully following from Michigan, USA.
I spotted a water wheel in the far corner of your property. Is it yours? And can it be returned to use, as that would be magic? It could open other opportunities, as well.
Hi May Great bike and glad you're starting to deal with the houses. Maybe next time you go to the market or anywhere of interest film more as part of viewers interest is to see surrounding places and culture almost like a travel programme and could expand your views and subscriptions🙂
Everything is looking wonderful, If you haven't you should look into controlled burning on your land. Very good for the environment and land management.
Now that you have electricity you can get battery powered tools, including trimmers, chainsaws and lawnmowers! Stihl is a good German brand. There are even electric wood chippers, very powerful!
Wow you can really see the shape of the land and property now. Embrace your cottages too, some new paint will make it feel more homely. A fridge and Wi-Fi , luxurious. The bike looked good for local trips, be careful when off reading as e-bikes don’t do as well as some high end mountain bikes in that respect.
It would be so helpful to get complete site plans, foundation plans, floor plans, roof plans, elevations, and details. What an incredible advantage planning, building and renovating. Yes, I know: $$$ 🤷🏻♂️ Those ‘ruined’ walls in the buildings are actually beautiful with their patina, cracks, rough surfaces, wonderful varieties of texture, amazing coloring… I hope you can preserve some of this beauty as you proceed with your restorations.
Oh yeah I forgot to warn.. We do have snakes. It's very rare to see them but.. We have them. They're so rare that quickly go to the 'Forgotten department'. Be careful please!!! One time I also saw one... Some days later it was at the door of the place I was staying! All coiled up and barely noticeable! I don't think they are poisonous but... Better safe than sorry. You can call the firemen to take it to another place if you want. Or keep it to control pests like rats and stuff. Barely seen any rats too btw... But it's up to you as you see fit. Loving the progress!!! Do you intend to restore the old house too? I think you said something about that but it wasn't clear. That house can become quite the house omg. Best of luck to you!
Hi Maya. Great news with your fridge…..however I have always been told that you should never store bananas in the fridge. I just googled it and they all say that! Just thought I should let you know. Enjoy your new bike!!! Chris UK
you should apply glyphosate to the freshly cut trees that you don't want to regrow using a paint brush in a few years you will have no more invasive trees
İşte şimdi tam olarak eve benzemeye başladı. 😊 Buzdolabı ile birlikte eve konfor girdi. Benim anlamadığım şu, neden en başında betonarme binaları onarmadınız ve ahşap evde yaşamaya karar verdiniz?
Richtig cool!
Also Stuck für Stück 😄

Don't put bananas in the fridge. Wrap a bit of damp paper towel around the stem and they will last much longer😊

Electric Bike , congratulations to you
You are quite possibly the most enthusiastic person I've ever seen. 😊
Would be interested to see a map or top down view of the property. It's hard for me to imagine what it looks like from descriptions😂
So proud of your work and achievements,
A B N B would be great on your property.
Rent out the terraces to van lifers.
Hihi seeing you sweeping the dust from the walls feels like a souvenir from some time ago! 😘
You doing a great work. Good luck 👍
It's good to see things are taking shape for you Maya .you deserve it after all your hard work 👍
Thank you 🤗
Yes...more upgrades...more progress are coming. So happy that your brother is here with you. More people more fun😂😂🎉❤
Woohoo! Progress. I love that there's so much water. Here in Alentejo it's very dry.
Really enjoying your videos, so much hard work!
You're doing a great job and thanks for sharing your adventure 😊
Simple things that ppl ignore cuz it's just open a fridge... Your smile tells everything!

Ganz toll 😀, Im renovating near Covilha and also doing the same with memosa haha!!!! On going job! Keep up the good work! DK
I didn't realise the buildings at the top of the hill are part of the property, l thought it was just the cabin. Great job clearing the terraces! 💪👏
Congrats for all your progress and acquisitions!!! See you next time with new adventures!!!!
Honestly so happy for you and the new fridge!! 😁 watching all the hard work and progress from London, UK.

It is just lovely to see you transform this property :) I am excited to see new projects, like a river turbine and a greenhouse.
Great work maya.what a beautiful Bike thanks for sharing
Maya so proud of all you have set your mind to do accomplishments at their finest. Please share foods of the culture when you get a chance. Faithfully following from Michigan, USA.
Great progress Maya, your brother is a hard worker. Good advise from neighbours on mimosa to trim down to a bush. Your fridge will give you joy. ❤
I spotted a water wheel in the far corner of your property. Is it yours? And can it be returned to use, as that would be magic? It could open other opportunities, as well.

Great bike and glad you're starting to deal with the houses.

Well done Maya, you are turning it into a beautiful home.:-) New fridge must be such a treat too.🙂
Brilliant! Nice to see the terraces appear.
Now that you have electricity you can get battery powered tools, including trimmers, chainsaws and lawnmowers! Stihl is a good German brand. There are even electric wood chippers, very powerful!

So much fun watching the transformation 🎉❤

❤awesome job Maya..🫶 sending you a lot of good vibes!!🧚♀️
Thank you Zoe, good vibes to you too! 🥳
Other than grasses, most "WEEDS" have medicinal purposes. The Creek works GREAT for a refrigerator
I have just found you here on you tube and I’m loving your videos. You have done so much and your property is very beautiful. I wish you so well Maya.
Welcome to my channel! Wish you well as well 🤗
Congratulations! You’re making sooo much progress!
Always love your content. Keep it up
I AM só happy to see yr progress❤ you have a small part of paradise!
Good job❤
Namastê 💖😘
❤Amazing transformation!! I love it!!!❤
I have a walnut tree it doesn’t let anything grow on its drip line. FYI.
Nossa, que felicidade!!!
Parabéns pelas aquisições. Muito bonitinha falando Português, rsssss
Your place is looking great.
"a little refreshment" cracked me up 😆

Mimosa is an invasive species in Queensland Australia we have millions of hectares of it which is difficult to control
Maybe you can plant some nice roses or something on that fertile spot alongside the stone wall... that way the brambles won't come back hopefully.
Oh yeah I forgot to warn.. We do have snakes. It's very rare to see them but.. We have them. They're so rare that quickly go to the 'Forgotten department'. Be careful please!!! Will you have to build more retaining walls around the house and on the terraces?
Good job and well done Maya😊
Hi Maya. Great news with your fridge…..however I have always been told that you should never store bananas in the fridge. I just googled it and they all say that! Just thought I should let you know. Enjoy your new bike!!! Chris UK
Have you thought about getting some kind of machinery to cut back the land? Some kind of all terrain tractor
Thank you Maya it was very good video. You are amazing.☺️
Thanks brother,be careful snacks.
I skip over all the snake parts. I am afraid of snakes and cannot see poctures of them or i have nightmares. You are brave, Maya.
Sweet Good Morning to Sweet pink fairy Maya
you should apply glyphosate to the freshly cut trees that you don't want to regrow using a paint brush in a few years you will have no more invasive trees
Hi have you seen ,,project kamp,, on youtube it's in Portugal also may be a good place for ideas, keep up the great work.
İşte şimdi tam olarak eve benzemeye başladı. 😊 Buzdolabı ile birlikte eve konfor girdi. Benim anlamadığım şu, neden en başında betonarme binaları onarmadınız ve ahşap evde yaşamaya karar verdiniz?
Well done Maya 🧚♀️😊
Ur so talented I love you ❤
Another nice, enjoyable video.
Do you know if the snake is poisonous?
Just curious, but what is “strimming”? Is it the same as trimming? Love your videos and property.
Mimosas need removing roots and all, if you can get the majority of the tap root out you can get rid of them
MY GOODNESS.... WHAT A TON OF PROGRESS.... WELL DONE, GLAD YOU HAD A VISIT WITH YOUR BROTHER TOO.. CONGRATS MAYA. BE BLESSED!
I love your videos. What's part of Portugal are you in? Kind regards Ivan
Interesting video as all ways opinion would it not b better to spray some weedkiller on path ways and at entrance
Richtig cool!
Also Stuck für Stück 😄
Well done Maya🎉 lots of yummy cold 🍸 🍹 💧 happy days 😊
Where in Portugal are you located, you say central Portugal but it looks more like northern portugal with all the green vegetation and stream ?
You could try goats instead of "strimmers". Could be fun and cute. BTW, are there trout in that stream?
Just a little tip,bananas shouldn't be put in a fridge.🙆
So cool to see it all come together..
You speak portuguese very good. your family is living in Portugal?
Obrigada! I knew some Spanish before coming to Portugal, that made it easier 😊
