We got this one for Christmas, and it's been lots of fun. I really like games where at the end you have built something that's visually satisfying, whether it's collective (Teotihuacan, Catch the Moon), or something more personal (Between Two Castles, Meeple Circus). Definitely not enough games using visual appeal at end game to make the experience more satisfying. With Between Two Castles especially, we like to play on either TTS, or using sheets of paper under the tiles, so players can draw extra details as background like trees, flying birds, ziplines between towers, etc. Definitely enhances the experience.
Promoting a pawn in chess :P Seriously though it would be something unexpected to me if it were a game that was just published (I can have two queens and break the game in this hardcore skill-based game? )
Just impulse bought this when I was at target the other day. Can't wait to play it, even though I bought it with the intention to play it with my son (he's only 8 months old though... so I'm gonna have to wait a while🤣)

I'm glad you're enjoying Monkey Palace! I feel the same way about building something in games.
Got this for Christmas from my parents, can't wait to play it tomorrow!
Great review!! Sounds fun!

I'm sure you two will enjoy it together when the time comes. :)
