@Gio T. The thing is I always forget that while I prefer when people say things to the point, others do not. I would appreciate it if someone were to say something like "Your art is messy" instead of in a roundabout way to seem polite. I think it's more polite when it's to the point and concise so when I'm blunt with others I do not know that I'm being rude. That's just what I think is polite.

    • @nicolaszan1845
      @nicolaszan1845 5 ปีที่แล้ว +190

The scientific validity of the MBTI test is close to non existant, since psychology works very very differently to other sciences.
However, it does a wonderful job of creating personality types. Of course, it's extremely rare for you to perfectly fit into one category, most people have traits of two or three. But at large it makes a good job of grouping people based on their main personality and temperament traits.

@@clivehandforth3531 +yeah That's because you misunderstand it. Is not the zodiac. It's not exactly 16 personalities types. Is more like the foundation. For example, we have introvert peoples and extrovert peoples. You can define what an introvert is and what an extrovert is, that's the foundation. But each extrovert for example, is different in its own way - all of them love to socialize and be active, but each of them has their own passions, their own hobbies, their own values because what we are is defined by our own unique experiences. The MBTI test simply shows the main personality traits that drive us, and their results and potential results. And there are 16 sets, but obviously every person it's its own person, and it has it's own ''uniqueness'' from its own experiences and situation. Personally, I used to think that there are fewer personality types, before learning about about MBTI, less than 10. Humans can really be put in a very limited amount of personality types (they are like NPC's from a video game), what's unique about us is our experiences, which lead to learning personal lessons, conclusions, memories, etc - and from those, we got our individuality. Other than that, humans can be categorized... is probably because our biology... in the end, we are all made out of the same materials, and slightly different types of genes, so there is little variety in our brain function, especially those that lead to our personalities (which is still quite a mystery for scientists), so just like we get similar body features (facial similarities, eyes color, height, etc.), we get similarities in our brain, and as a result in our personalities. Personally, I would love o see an experiement done between peoples with the same personality type, where they go for many years, maybe since early childhood or birth, trough the same set of experiences, and see if how much individuality will those peoples develop (or if any)... but I guess that can't be done, as it would be higly unethical.

For things that pay the rent/feed me I just do things that are really super important to other people that I could care less about therefore I am not really even trying = don't care = not my best = easy = still way better than most people for certain endeavors without even trying hard (my version of hard) = no failure. I've had this problem for a very long time. When I was a kid I used to listen to audiobooks, because that's what made me fall asleep. Without the audiobooks, I usually drifted away in thoughts and that would've kept me up longer. Nowadays, I just dose off to some ASMR or music. Without background noise I just get lost in my thoughts, that would cause nightmares (My train of thought usually inspects many viewpoints, including pessimistic ones. With my typical 'What if' thoughts, this usually combines into a really bad nightmare.

As INTPs are more different from others, they lived through things like being abandoned, or betrayed, so they fear that it will happen again, and instead of thinking about other things that are more logical and can be proven, emotions are strange so they prefer not to risk. Well, that is my opinion

Here is an INTP who has been abandoned (foster homes) and rejected (divorce), but has managed to overcome. Ok, maybe just barely. Luckily I had my Ti to come to the rescue. Hiding away by reading the whole library.
The thing is to try to see everything as an adventure and as a means to become strong. I just saw a fantastic video about it. I will post it.

I hate having this personality type. I hate small talk and talking to most people in general because I find it to be unproductive and pointless. I don't care about these people why should I try talk to them. I think I'm asexual or aromatic or whatever it is because I have never and probably will never be interested in a relationship. I don't care about people in a sexual or romantic way it just seems unrewarding. I find it difficult to relate to others and become close to them because I can't empathise and I feel like they don't understand. This is really annoying as I can never build strong friendships because the only friendships I find rewarding are those with like minded people, which I never seem to find. I hate my small town because everyone is so judgemental and care about stupid shit that doesn't even matter. I just prefer to be by myself and I enjoy being alone this is why I never feel loneliness. But it is a lonely life. I'm a lazy piece of shit so I'll never do anything with the emotional intelligence I have because I sit on my ass unable to be productive for once in my life. I find most things important to the majority of people useless and a waste of time. I wish I gave a shit. I have no idea what to do with my life but people around me tell me to go into science or use my mind but I just don't care about those things, I don't seem to care about much.
Omf I wish I could socialize more and find it easy to talk to people. I wish I could develop strong bonds with others. I wish I could love someone with all my heart, even if it ends with pain.
I'm just stuck in my head all the time and that is the only place I want to be.
Don't take this as me thinking I'm depressed or something either because I'm definitely not. I don't think so anyway.
I don't even know why I'm writing this comment. I guess I hope someone who feels similar to this will find this comment and relate.
It hit me how shit I feel about how my mind works the other day when I remembered my childhood friend that I drifted from. Last year was the first year in our whole lives we hadn't spent our birthdays together. I didn't even acknowledge it. They were the only person I really cared about. I wish I still cared but I don't.

Hi Emily. As someone who is INTP-T, I heavily relate to a lot of what you're saying. The only difference being that I am able to be in a relationship, but that person has to have a lot of patience and understanding. Especially as I would call myself more protective than affectionate.
What I do want to say though, is because people like us think so deeply, I feel we are more prone to depression. I know for sure I am, but then sometimes I like to get 'lost' in that depression. Maybe that sounds strange. I don't have any friends any more because I can't stand the boring conversations. I don't care who slept with who or how many drinks you had on any given night... I want to know what you think about when you're alone. What keeps you up at night. Everything from scientifically proven topics to far-fetched theories.
You are in no way alone, but do try and take care of yourself. Depression can sneak up on you and become such a part of you, you don't know how to live without it.

@E H I know this is a late reply so I hope you’re taking care of yourself too but yeah I’ve recently been diagnosed with depression and some other shit. I had just become so numb to things, nothing interested me anymore and I knew there was something wrong with that. I made some really good friends but all of a sudden I just stopped talking to them because I just didn’t care, I couldn’t be bothered anymore. I’m annoyed at myself for that. I know I’m not alone and it was nice to read your comment as I never really found anybody likeminded if you know what I mean. It’s hard for me to try find meaning to all of this and without that, I feel it’s all pointless. I hate that that’s the way I think. I hope you haven’t fallen back in to depression and know that it’s ok to rely on others for help, something I haven’t mastered. Anyway thanks for your comment, made me feel slightly less alone and sorry again for the late reply. Life doesn’t really need meaning anyway let’s just enjoy the experience while we can, that sounded cheesy but oh well.

@@EE-tx2lc Yeah It's somewhat creepy how much I feel like I relate to someone else. And 8 hours is not a late reply for my standards don't worry. I sometimes reply to friends and colleagues only weeks after because I just can't be bothered to spend more than a minute on the phone. I feel like I am the same way with my friends as well, like I made really good friends in high school and they kind of push me a bit out of my comfort zone which I probably need but most of the times they just want to hang out to smoke weed or talk about stuff I'm not interested in the slightest, but even though we have not much in common they're still good people who care about me probably more than I care about them (not proud of this but I really am a bit indifferent to most things and people unfortunately). Yeah I stopped believing in things like "meaning" and "purpose" a long time ago too. It really sucks that I never found something in life that made me happy and I genuinely struggle to think of anything that would make me happy even if it seems a bit out of reach. Sometimes I get sudden bursts of enthusiasm but like with most things I quickly get bored or just lose interest. Your comment is not cringy, don't worry. That's probably something we do right. We click send and right after go back to read what we just sent. Overthinking everything lol

The downside is that I sometimes do miss or misunderstand things, but It makes my reading speed super fast and if a part seems interesting I slow down or re-read a bit.

I love watching these little INTP videos. I am an INTP to the core. Theories, Philosophies, Psychological processes, all of it interest me because of their conceptualising and theories. Sadly once I graduated college with these degrees I had no interest in actually having a CAREER in psychology, etc. I just wanted to learn about it.
Funny, that. I'd go to college just to learn about stuff, not to get a job. Pity. So now I have to rely on the internet to answer my billions of questions, and as more questions are answered, I ask two more in their place.
The Search is Never-ending. I feel I will never be satisfied until I know everything and can answer EVERYTHING, the formation of our world, how people think and act, why the universe is the way it is, how it began, etc.
I've been a loner because I've always been different, I've always been ahead of my other peers, my teachers loved me for my academical curiousities, because I simply wanted to know more and more about our world. Not for a grade.
Relationships? Hahahaha! Who has time for those?! I'm too busy figuring out the physics of the universe and quantum mechanics and conceptualising sci-fi theories to see if we can practically apply it and make it a reality! Oh, and writing a book. Not just one. I'm writing 100 in my head! My body is too slow for my mind!
I will never be satisfied by the simple answers religion gives me, or the government's laws. I always think we can find a better answer, that we can figure out something that answers the question better than we currently have the system set up as.
The problem is that the rest of the world hasn't caught up to us INTPs yet, so we are alone in our unique ways of thinking.

It's interesting, I feel like being an INTP"-T" seems very different from being an INTP"-A". I'm typed as an INTP"-A" by the MBTI and I'm honestly pretty zen, stable, calm, peaceful and don't crack easily under stress plus I never get angry at people, which I personally find really helps me in thinking more clearly and concisely. Though of course, like the stereotype, I still have the usual ridiculous experiences of often being unable to comfortably compute things like sentiment and intimacy etc. Sherlock, if he is a testament to INTP"-T"s, seems to be severely emotionally undeveloped to the point where his turbulent hot-headedness just makes him frequently fallacious and arrogant which I hope people are not trying to strive towards/copy. Sure I love him as a fictional character in a show of course ‘cause it’s entertaining on a kind of shallow yet relatable level, but putting aside the romanticisation of “misunderstood-ness” and supercilious “mental torment” and all that fantasy wish wash, in “real life” (as we say) he’d be a very unhealthy and melodramatic person to be around and would eventually just need to learn to get over his ego. "-A" and "-T", as you're probably aware, are not conceptualised as being part of the MBTI function stack. I think the idea is that they're fluid, learned and fundamentally self-conditioned… not that the function stack necessarily isn’t but that’s a game for another time.
*Regardless:* Beautiful video man :) Cleverly put together.

yeah, it is actually annoying when people don't understand why he makes the decisions that he makes and attempt to emulate the things that real intps (typically ones who don't know anything about psychology or how the brain as an organ works) are trying to get rid of. so they look to me like emo people who would rather be doing something else, if that makes sense. not sure that it does, yet.
I don't understand the need to emulate his behavior, especially since Cumberbatch's version is a reinterpretation of the character. all of the movies and shows were except for the grenada series, because they tried to stick to the book as hard and literal as anyone I've ever seen. so if you want to emulate someone who is not your natural personality, I say check out the jeremy brett series, or just read the original books, or both.
for the people who actually want to learn to THINK like sherlock, then there is a very good book on that subject titled wait for it... wait for it....." mastermind how to think like sherlock holmes" it was very informative. I learned about the real man, who was Joseph Bell, and Doyle was actually his Watson (not sure if I learned that second part from that book or somewhere else,). so that's why the stories are mostly told from Watson's perspective. Watson would probably be an INFP, or INTJ or INFJ, possibly an ISTJ, ISTP or ISFP. he describes sherlock as cold, calculating, methodical but not systematic. also drug addicted, to both uppers and downers based on his needs. coke if he is a little bored, heroine if he is bored to the point of depression. not sure how much of that was actually Joseph Bell or doyles creative flair. watson needed things pointed out to draw conclusions from, but was equally capable of observing fine details - he is an battlefield surgeon and an excellent marksman.
there are some very dangerous things to emulate, if solely for the sake of emulation. the real strength with sherlock at least for me, is that he brings order to some of my chaos. his methodical approach made it SOOOO MUCH easier to sort and sift through the vast polymorphous nebulae of information in my head, which to me, is more valuable than fine jewelry. or even diamonds.
shit man, you can make diamonds out of burnt toast with a microwave, so yeah, information is way more valuable.

It does seem like a night and day difference. I'm only just now learning about these personality types (after years of self reflection in my own life and seeing this research, wow I feel fucking understood) I'm a -A now, but I feel like most of my younger life I was -T. I feel the -A comes with age and experience, understanding Stoic principles that flow incredibly well with our way of thinking. It's crazy how different the two ends of the spectrum can be when you factor in mainly the person's ability to handle stress.
I much prefer the -A typing. It has its drawbacks, I feel like I'm more motivated, have more fire behind me when I'm leaning towards -T tendencies, but I can't imagine life without my Stoic, laid back principles with dealing with stress.

I've found that I am very neutral in that regard. So, as with all non-empirical things, it is completely subjective and prone to situational bias.

great video, a bit melodramatic but good none the less. i like how you didn’t show the stereotypical good parts but i don’t like the edgy kids in the comments who answer how they wish to be on the test and then say “oh, i’m INTP” even though they fit an ISFJ more. it’s irritating because if you are an actual INTP you would 100% hate being an INTP. my reason is that it’s irritating because you can see yourself obsessing over details but you can’t do anything about it because that’s just how you work and nothing else will satisfy. be happy how you are, your personality is fine- you really don’t want to be mistaken for having ADD, put on meds that give you severe reactions and giving yourself bald spots because you have a natural chaotic way of thinking. go with the easier answer to your problems, not the harder way kiddies. anyways- it’s a pretty video and i really like it. astounding editing

Overthinking, analyzing every single thing that happened or might happen. That's the only constant part in my life. I don't understand how some people can possibly "switch off" their thoughts. I'm always thinking about something, sometimes of several things at once. I often find myself awake because of these exact thoughts, no matter how tired or sleepy i am, i won't be able to fall asleep until i come to certain conclusion or rather solution. I'm surprised people want to have similar mindset to intp. There is some kind of glorification even. I'm afraid that they consider only the positive sides of that type. Thanks for showing cons as well, you really did put a great effort into that video.

I honestly used to believe no one could ever understand who i am, the things i think, or the way my mind works. Then i read the description of my personality type. it was completely accurate. I realized there was other people like me. I also read the part about logicians not having as much sympathy or liking for matters of emotion. I never could agree with it until now. The realization that love and feelings really do cloud judgement hit me like a hammer. But it was also the greatest relief i've ever felt.
Much like a heavy burden lifted off my shoulders.

I've only just discovered this personality type. Reading the Meyers-Briggs ebook, I've never felt so fucking understood in my life. I honestly was never able to put my own personality, how I think, into words. It's been so hard to communicate how I process information and perceive things. Everybody gets so confused about it.
Tbh, reading some of the research about our personality type got me choked up at times, it really blows my mind that other people out there think like I do because I don't think I've ever met somebody that resonates with me at that level. It's truly exciting that there is a field of science that has been observing people like us, our strengths and weaknesses, and how I can use that information to better myself.
I really think INTP's are an incredibly powerful personality type. We have a ton of potential, we just need to discover how to channel our energy and come to peace with ourselves.

I m INTP woman, not emotional, never distracted by feelings, argue for logic. I never had a boyfriend and later I heard all guys in class were scared of me because I was too straight forward. After highschool I lost my friend and slowly fall in depression because I over worked and had no one to share my frustration. Recently I m learning to be open and myself with BTS and believe me it actually worked. I m still hopeless with love shit but I m more clear about myself and my choices. I m made a lot of friends through this diverse fandom that help me to over come my loneliness and meet people who understands and appreciates me.💜

This video defines who I am. I'm an INTP. I probably never learned so much about myself than I have in this video. Im told I don't consider people's feelings and that the things I say can be mean and harsh (cold hearted), but that's just who I am. They have to accept me for who I am. I'm a loner yes but when I'm talking on subject only interest or debate I jump in hence intellectual. Adventurous yes and honest most likely. But I do know now that I'm an INTP. I've taken test and have always gotten enneagram 5. Thank you for this video because it's helped me as a person.

It's a blessing and a curse to be an INTP... I can't turn off my brain ffs

  • @sasavlog03
    @sasavlog03 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

The only weakness in INTP is that our brain is very self-destructive, like an engine. It feeds onto information like oil to keep the gears smooth and working. However emotions, something that INTP can only force themselves to understand, is the water. Like some cars, it need the water to cool down the overworked engine. But we don't know how to use it, how to master it. So if we twist the top open, it would explode under pressure, and burn our brains. Emotions is a distraction, and a form of knowledge that all INTP struggle to understand.
Knowledge, the oil, is our brain's source of life. If we stop putting oil, then it will get stuck and go overdrive. We began to self-destruct: over thinking, burying ourself in the search bars among the people in the Internet, blaming yourself for not being good enough at certain things yet too good at certain things, the feeling of vulnerability when you realise how difficult it is to not procrastinate and actually do shit for once, blaming yourself for tolerating yourself.
    It really wore us down.
I guess that's why and how we are more prone to depression than most. Good day to everyone though.
Edit: After scrolling through the comment sections, I have never felt so... Homely(?). The realization that I am not alone, and there's someone else who relates kinda bring a sense of comfort. Even if it's only a little.

I've been trying to understand who I am more in depth to what I knew, after taking the personalities test a lot of things started to make sense. I feel like I can finally come into what I am, I understand myself much better and have realized why others can consider me rude and harsh for speaking my mind...only when they ask for it that is. I had a great laugh the other day while celebrating the 4th of July with my family. A distant cousin of mine, who I have not been in contact with for at least four years, made a comment to me. She asked why I was seeming distant and in a foul mood, in other words grumpy, I had been sitting on the sidelines when the children started gathering around me and throwing firecrackers at my feet. For one thing, I did not like the idea of firecrackers being thrown at my bare feet nor the fact that the children were bursting into my private, quiet bubble. This made me recall what I had studied up on earlier and I couldn't help but laugh, realizing the reason I had done so and being somewhat proud of myself for who I am.

Here's the thing, the overall pace of my life is extremely slow. Everyone keeps complaining about it. i'm always late, always stretching out decisions, I like to slowly ease myself into things nstead of just doing them right away... just imagine living at speed 0,75. (The only exception seems to be walking, I walk at an average speed of 5-6 km/h.) I was wondering whether I'm the only one or whether this is an INTP thing. Do any other INTPs experience something similar?

I'm an INTP but I'm not an edgy loner. I have a lot of friends (though whether or not they actually enjoy my company is yet to be judged), but very few I can say I'll go out of my way to talk to. Being an INTP isn't being a loner, it's being adaptable to any person you're forced to interact with, while also being a social pariah. The loner part only comes in when after a while of doing this, you get tired of it and you need a break. If you're Turbulent, not only will you get tired, but you will have an existential crisis and debate if everyone can tell you're 'lying'. Being a social chameleon is almost instinctual. It you're turbulent, after a while you'll start fearing the loss of your real identity. Anyways, not all INTP's are bookworms, and not all of them are into science. Some are history or theatre junkies (not performers, more often crew). Being an artist is a given.

It may be just me, but they should also have put in there "prefers saying things in advanced form, and may use archaic words or phrases, like brother mine". Again, could be just me. Anyone else?

i remember crying when i was younger because my mom would constantly comment on how 'emotionless' i was. i just couldnt tell her that i promise, on the inside, im so happy. it just isnt showing physically. she could never understand.

Exactly. It's very hard to open up and be vulnerable in front of ppl coz being vulnerable makes me despise myself.
It's hard to maintain friendships coz ppl see me as a cold person.
Im not cold.. My mind overpowers most emotions coz brain is my default and not the heart. And tbh having a dominant brain over heart isn't such a bad thing.. Leads to way more rational and practical decisions 🙃
It gets lonely tho.. It's hard enough to make any friends with this personality type let alone find similar ppl.
