Such tech should have been widely available by now. The germans were first to use such drones during second world war. They were called "Goliath" which was a remote wire controlled explosive on wheels.

I don't know... because in that way you'd need a battery twice larger in order to bring back the vehicle. To which you still would have to add the mine-laughing mechanism. Or else you only would be able to run half the distance. Plus a two way voyage with a heavier larger vehicle would increase the chances of the vehicle becoming stuck in the fields and/or being detected and captured. With a significantly larger battery plus the mine-releasing mechanism it would increase the size and weight and necessary the wheels of the vehicle in order to not get stuck... So, when analyzing everything, I don't know if there would be a relevant cost-efficiency benefit.

The operator of the drone said it: "At the beginning of the war it would've been useful". Since you knew the direction of the enemy and which road they're coming from. At the current state of the war, armored vehicles come through miles of open field and you don't know where they're coming from. Even if your drone can navigate the rough terrain, you don't know if they have the range to reach the target. Best if they could attach an automatic grenade lobber onto these drones to lob into trenches; the XM1100 Scorpion comes to mind.

There is probably a mountain of parts available they could use for this which we discard every day. Use batteries from discarded and obsolete phones, tablets, laptops, power tools etc. to power them.
Wheels and steering hardware could be used from the mountain of children's toys we throw out every year, like small cars, buggies, bikes, etc.
I would love to be able to ship them container loads of parts, and they could mass produce thousands of those on the cheap, taking out vehicles, tanks, APC's, etc. in the process.

A simple ditch will block it, not speaking of any muddy pools, craters, steep tracks in roads etc. Higly unpractical, if not on tracks. And without cameras and live broadcast, how can you steer it to its destination? One need to keep out of sight and further away not to become a direct target. Looks more like desperation then anything militarily impacting.
