Look at you and your fancy new Oval RC set. I'm looking forward to testing this motor/esc combo.

You can use all the torque in the brushless to carry loads more gear and use it. I know Dave didn't think it would be a huge difference with the fixed gearing you guys tested at, but it will be anywhere you allowed open gearing. It is going to get as hot as the brushed motor (190-200) unless there is agreed fixed gearing. Competition will push you to throw more gear at it. And you will be buying a new brushless motor every 2 weeks to be fast. The only way to combat it would be a new rotor, and it cannot be replaced on this motor. Run this setup as Crate. Use the hobby wing Juststock + 13.5 for Stock, and Open motor spec for Mod. Be done. Too many classes and lack of service for non-novice racers is just a $$$s sink.

“If” the 12t is going away, test, test, test! Bearing longevity is prob gonna be the end issue. Sorta stinks for the motor guys, but…
Gear rule or not is gonna depend on the track. 😉

If the 12t is a Tick faster, why with the BL2s are the suggesting a 15 tooth when the 12t runs a 16 tooth as per Salvas Rules??

im reading rules for a track near me... 16/90 or 24/86 only. so i guess one is for 12T and the other for the brushless. I notice those are very different ratios. someone know which is for which?

As easy as it is to swap systems you could run both classes given time to swap.

Correction! It will destroy everything. Everything that youve created just like it did to onroad and why stock offroad is out of control and goin way of onroad. -U10

@@OvalRC thinking about it some more. Perhaps what can keep Dirt Oval from the same fate is that this is a single make series. Tracks can call for a gear that doesnt run the motor to a limit that only wheels with good setups keep from burning the motor down. That wasnt possible with onroad and offroad. Whether issues with all sorts of different pulley or trans ratios yielding different final drives or offroad wanting more power for obstacles and/or their inability to define what stock was (offroad 10.5-13.5-17.5-21.5-17.5 again) (onroad 13.5-17.5-21.5-25.5-21.5 again).
Dirt Oval always seemed to have its head screwed on correctly and i said many a time at race mtgs that taking some cues from DO would help but largely fell on deaf ears.
I'm toying with getting back in with my boys doing something like this when not just running them around the yard. Perhaps the old man would join in recalling Legends racing in the 90s. Guess i'll sit back and watch what happens before i make a move. Best wishes. -U10
