These boxes never take into account the headache of accumulating crap you don’t want and then having to deal with getting rid of it.
These subscriptions seem gimmicky to me. If I want a piece of gear, I’ll buy it. I’m not gonna pay to get a box of random, hoping out of all the junk there’s something I never heard of but somehow need/want. Silly.
Yep. Huge waste of money. Unless you know you’ll use 100% of what is in each box you paying for things to put in a drawer.
Couldn't have said it any better myself. If you go with the lowest tier, you get a bunch of nick-knacks the provider obviously got wholesale for a dime a dozen 😆

I’ve never done a subscription service like this and probably never will. I enjoy doing research on gear/tools before I buy them. I don’t like mystery boxes.
I guess this would be cool to someone that is new to buying EDC gear or they just like to collect all kinds of gadgets.
This isn't my thing personally, but it seems like a good approach to the mystery box model. The value seems good, and that mix of edc and outdoor gear seems like a nice way of making sure everyone gets something that feels a bit out of their main wheelhouse.
It's already giving off overstock vibes with the serrated blade.

Just buy what you want. This is a gimmick.
$200 is more than I'm willing to spend on a monthly basis and not know what I'm getting. I went with Bespoke Post. I know exactly what I'm getting and if I don't like this months offerings I can swap to a different box or opt out of that month with no penalties. Works well for me.

Subscription boxes for products I don’t like. You almost always get stuff you don’t want. Subscription boxes for consumable stuff are better because you get to try different stuff. Even stuff you might not like but you can always find someone to eat/drink it.

That flashlight is quite a chunk for the pocket. I'm glad you did the 1st review because I've always been afraid of joining one of these clubs for the reasons you gave.
I have one of those lights for camping it’s great. It gets easier to use.
Problem with these boxes are they are super inaccurate on pricing out the items in them. That ace beam light is $180 on their website making the value of going premium questionable if you don't like any of the other items.
Oh, they’re for sure always going to list on the upper end of pricing. But even at $180, the rest would only have to cost $20 to cover the cost of the box. From a purely financial point, the value of this box does exceed its cost by a gift bit. Can’t speak for the rest of them. But I agree. Historically, that’s not the case with these sorts of boxes.
I like seeing subscription boxes, but I stopped getting them as I already have too much gear. Good video.
IMO, Going Gear has the best EDC subscription box.
I’ve payed for two boxes and received the same You’ve presented. Honestly felt pretty disappointed. Stupid wallet. Much happier with my magpul wallet.Yeah I guess the flashlights will come in handy since I only have a couple. I suppose they’ve had some good knives in the past. To be quite honest if July drop doesn’t make up for June than I’ll cancel. Of course august drop will be great following such a decision. Honestly I’m wasting my money but I’ll do one more.
Tag the company @goinggear & ask them for a discount or some type of heads up as to what’s in the next box to opt in/out. Especially if you’ve been underwhelmed previously.
Oh I just got a Spartan with white scales and black blades. I’ve owned hundreds of knives, but it’s my first Swiss Army knife. I quite like it.

I really dont get the subscription box model.. Why not just buy stuff you actually want instead of hoping you will get it in a overpriced box.. It's like real l ife lootboxes, they suck haha.

I’ve never understood the corkscrew or bottle opener, as most bottles are twist-off. I’d much rather have a screwdriver. The serrated blade makes it more useful as a multi tool- assuming you’ll have a straight edge knife already with you. These subscription services seem like they’d just generate unwanted junk for the landfill

Yep. Was a BB Pro+ subscriber for 50+ missions. Early on, I could not say enough about the quality of products. Sure, some of the missions were a miss, but overall, awesome products for the value. But all of that has changed. I cancelled several months ago and have not regretted it. I watch the vidoes and if there is an item I like, I just buy it.

I would love an option to just pick one box and get it. Yes it adds complications like people only picking "good" weeks. But I'm sure there are a lot of people like me who can't afford that much every month.
Bespoke post is pretty good, not all of it is edc and to be honest many months I have skipped but every once in awhile there’s a banger which I’ll grab.
have you looked at the milwaukee pen light flashlight. i got one for work and love it because it the one end is rubber so you can hold it in your mouth and not chip your teeth.
Try rage Acebeam Rider RX. AA light that also uses 14500 like the DCO. Titanium is around $50.

Nope. They have an aluminum one for $80. Also brass and a polished stainless for $160. The E70 in this video is titanium. The titanium E70 is $208 on Amazon, or $189 without the battery
@@durkadurka5247 anyone that would pay 200 of a mini light has more money than brains. I live on a budget and $80 is expensive for me. I have to watch for sales and specials on knives and lights.. it's hard to do, but I got a Becker Bk 2 for $40 and a Copper Kizer Begleiter for $60.

The flashlight is priced at $188 after a cursory Google search. I think they price things up which is pretty lame of them.

I see a box full of Christmas presents for my friends. I am so picky about what I carry it's just no good for me. The flashlight for instance is a perfect example. You have to take the battery out to charge it???? No no no. Olight warrior mini 2 out classes that light by far and much cheaper. My iR2 pro out classes that light on my key chain. The other stuff besides the wallet is blah. I guess I don't like surprises when I have to pay for them.
i like the idea of subscribtion boxes... until i remember that all the cool ones ship from, and sometimes only within, the USA... and i am in germany... and with taxes and customs it's suddenly very not worth it~

Been a sub to them for years. They are the only box that sends interesting stuff and I actually carry it. Their sub $50 knife selections are awesome. I did do their premium for a bit and got a benchmade adamas out of it! Wish I could swing $200 monthly to keep it up. But their $60 sub hits just right.

Normally, I would agree with you. That's even what I told Daniel when we were talking at Blade Show. They sent this box with no strings and I told them I wouldn't be making a video on it. But after digging in a little deeper, I felt like this one is a little different and I wanted to give it a shot. $200 per month is a tough pill but the $60/mo box could be fun.

Yeah… no offense to this club but I feel like these companies are a waste of money and a way to fill your closets with random gear you probably won’t use. If a “club” allowed you to pick from a list, and decline for the month if the consumer couldn’t find enough stuff they wanted, it might be worth it. To each their own, though. It’s just not for me. Seems cheaper to find JUST the things I’m interested in and pay for them rather than pick up a bunch of random stuff. I feel like most EDCers already have either the things in this box or something similar - likely versions that better suit their needs than what’s in the box. So what’s the point of these boxes?
Subscription boxes (of ANY genre!) look to be far more advantageous to the seller than the consumer. JMO

I know it isn’t a knife box but man the last 3 knives in the basic box has sucked. If the next one isn’t good, I’ll be cancelling. To much money for a mediocre EDC box.
I usually love your stuff and I've definitely thought about these boxes but I keep coming to the same conclusions as other people too much stuff that I can't guarantee I'll use. But I think the thing that maybe bothered me a little bit about your video today is that you were honest for a minute or two about how frustrating that lantern is and then seemed to give it a pass saying it was a good product just maybe not for you when it was clearly very frustrating and difficult you even used the word difficult button
Once I figured it out, it worked well. The button is stiff, which I mentioned. But the lantern, overall, is actually pretty nice.
These things are the dumb random loot boxes of video games in the real world. I make a really good income and would not waste my money on a box that has random junk in it that I may or may not want. MSRP is not a good measure of “worth.” I would not have been happy if I’d paid $50 for that box, but love the Tale of Knives Pocket Tux that I paid $65 for because it was something I knew I wanted.

Yeah definitely not. Premium and it has a Swiss Army knife. Clearly for folks who aren’t already into edc at all. Great pocket knife but like a great pocket knife I probably have already unintentionally owned 3 maybe 4 times in my life.
That’s not the premium part. I clearly stated that the premium box is just what is in the other box plus one premium item - this time being a $200 flashlight.

Each item useful in the box but to someone uninitiated to the the subculture. Even watching BD EDC videos has steered me towards various more purposeful gear. I E a leathermen and a decent knife over the Swiss army
