I agree. But Singapore also relies on foreign labors a lot. It’s quite common to see “stepping stone” cases in the low-income-tax places like Dubai or Hong Kong.
@@kaka_lin SG is dependent on foreigners for jobs at the top and bottom tier. We do not need foreigners doing middle level jobs, like you. Tech comp? A lot of SIngaporeans can do your job, you were lucky you came to SG when it was still easy.

Been there done that - was from AU and in SG 5 years and left, now in HK; very interesting compare and contrast possible between the three (and include CN since experiencing that being next door). Your points quite fair but last one - isn't that in the past now so not a deal breaker?

@@KatherineChong-x7b It really depends on which industry and function you’re in. In general it’s not bad because many companies choose to have an office in Singapore
Socialising with colleagues and clients? Were you working in an overseas office of a China company? Because companies from other countries based in Singapore and the Singapore owned companies do not have such office and business culture. When you said Singapore is boring, it means you had looked at Singapore from a mono perspective. Overall, I think Singapore is not the place for you based on your personality type. Also, your negative views of Singapore is probably deeply rooted in your unhappiness over the country's COVID measures. You had allowed this feeling to shape your opinions. It's good for you to leave Singapore then. Your departure makes Singapore a better place if you keep speaking about the country with a tainted lens. I have lived and worked in this wonderful country for many years. Singapore is not boring to me and other expats because we made the effort to explore and learn about the country. There are so many layers to peel. You clearly didn't make enough effort. And now you are saying so many negative things.
The socialising mentioned in China and Korea is part of a bigger culture of having to kowtow to your boss and clients.......including providing sexual favours to them I order to keep your job or getting their business. Why need to show you are willing to get drunk in order to prove your sincerity? It is also part of a larger culture of corruption that is part of fabric of life in China, Malaysia and other countries.
Its just your character. You have a wild side and Singapore is never a good match for you. I am surprised you came to Singapore in the first place because you should have seen that coming. So to come here and then post such a video is to do injustice to Singapore which had treated you well. People who are coming to Singapore should know Singapore is an efficient small country with a hot weather generally and the important plus benefits are stability and safety. So those wild adventurous types, please dont come here and then start talking negatively about Singapore being small, hot and efficient.

Her point on work culture in SG is really LOL, given that she is a Chinese. China is known for shitty 996 culture. And she said she had to socialize a lot in SG to get promoted. You never experienced the ups and downs of growing in a developing country. From being poor to being affluent. That's why it was easy for you to pack and go.
Actually I’m from China so kinda experienced that. It’s definitely not an easy decision because relocation cost a lot of time, energy and money. And I needed to adapt the new environment from 0. It’s just after I considered thoroughly, I feel it’s good for me in long-term. However, as I’m changing and the world is changing, I won’t say it’s definitely a 10/10 decision if I look back after 10 years. I will share my thoughts about relocation in next videos.
