I’ve been using a T5 from Sweetwater since they first came out but over the years I’ve modified it slightly including a Duncan Lil 59 mini bucker routed into the spot where the lipstick was. I did this to go to a separate volume knob (floating in the bottom edge of the treble F hole) and out a separate output jack. This allows me to send the neck and body sensor through an acoustic signal chain and one channel of my looper, and then simply dial up the electric sound whether it’s a clean chorus or lead tone through an completely separate set of pedals and separate looper channel. Hipshot locking tuners were a nice addition and make string changes faster, but I’ve never had issues keeping the T5 in tune, even in outdoor gigs with temperature and humidity swings.
Love koa & this guitar. The lipstick pickup is an interesting choice. It makes totally sense with the two other pickups. You are a nice youtuber thank you for charing this guitar.
Wow Rob , You are an Amazing Guitarist whether you're playing Electric or Acoustic !! Obviously I really respect your skills . I started playing when I was 11 and never stopped . Back in '09 I was hired by Princess Cruise Lines as a Professional Guitarist / Musician and worked for them until Covid shut them down in ' 18 . That really screwed me up cuz I had everything financially nailed down . For the first time in my life . And I'm closing in on 60 years old . Scary shit . But there is a lot of knowledge I've gained in the last 2 years that came from you , Rob . So I want to give you a personal thank you . Thank You Rob !! I truly appreciate the help you've given me to help make me become a better Guitarist . I wish we were everyday pals so I could visit you at your Studio and likewise with you . Hope to Chat soon . I hope you and your Family are all doing well and staying safe . And best of luck to the people who enter to Win the Contest !! 🎸
Kinda eerie that I happened to be looking at Taylors recently to upgrade from my current 300 dollar Ibanez A/E. Maybe I'll get lucky on this one, but if not, I'll keep on the search for the right one. 👌
I love the feel of the T5z. Buttery smooth under the fingers. If you adjust the bass and treble EQ knobs on the guitar you can achieve a wide range of guitar tones.
You're dead right about position 2. I also loved the brightness of position 5. I could definitely see myself using that as a coffee-shop only guitar. Unfortunately I'm on GAS lockdown by the wife, but boy would I love to get that winner notification!
Sweet play Robert, i just played and sang that song you played, Babe I'm Gonna Leave you, Led Zep's finest. Coincidence? Nah, i think it's fate. Wishing the stars would align on me, on this one. Would love to own that. Can't afford one but yeah, who knows. Cheers Robert, you rock, buddy.
I actually recognized the guitar from the thumbnail. I have been looking at the 12 string version of this for ages, but it is basically unobtainium, so I might get one of these at some point. I am guessing that this would sound really cool through a Rockman rig, which can accommodate both clean and distorted tones in a really musical manner.
That sounds like an amazing idea !! Especially considering 4 of the 5 Pickup Options will more than likely cause 60 Hertz Hum . Well , at least the one I used to have didn't .
One of the only things that I’m interested in with this guitar is that stacked pickup. When he was playing clean around the 12th fret it sounded like it was choking out.
That is a very coooooool guitar. It sounds as if it could be versatile, but I suspect, as you say, a solo performer who needs a selection of sounds in his or her 'Trick bag' would just love that..Hell I would love that... I'm away over to try and win it :)
The five-way pickup selector combinations for positions 1-3 given in the video are wrong. The correct combinations are as follows: Position 1: Neck humbucker and body sensor Position 2: Neck humbucker only Position 3: Bridge humbucker Position 4: Neck and bridge humbucker in parallel Position 5: Neck and bridge humbucker in series
What a fantastic guitar. I have wanted to give one of these hybrid style guitars in a practical situation. I bet they making writing and recording so convenient. This is going to make a great prize for someone.
Very cool guitar Robert. I haven’t seen one like this before. Thanks for bringing it to our attention and giving us a chance to win it. Many blessings man
I think it has enough midrange to by layered in as a flavor. I think if you are recording a part that the acoustic really needs to be front and center you might want to mic up a normal acoustic.
Very cool guitar and it sounds awesome. Years ago, I tried a Fender Telacoustic and hated it. Didn’t sound like an amplified acoustic and I didn’t care for it as an electric, either. Taylor, on the other hand, knows a thing’er two about great acoustic tone. Back in the 90s they dabbled in electrics, too. This seems like it would be a great guitar for solo gigging and busking. Looks beautiful, too.
A guy at our old church played the larger version of this guitar, this looks way more comfortable. Robert, you mainly play through your Axe-Fx III correct?
Great video, love the guitar, beautiful and sounds amazing. Out of my price range so thank you for the opportunity to listen to it and take a chance on winning.
Robert, cool guitar . I love Taylors. Just one question, not a dig, but it seems you kept changing what you told us what pickup configuration for what switch positions??? I could be wrong. Have a good one!
Cool, unusual sounds and I'm sure someone will make beautiful music with it. Had a culture shock moment in the intro starting about :28 when it sounded like you were playing a riff from Regulus by the Korean band Onewe. I'm sure you weren't (and probably never heard of them) but it was a fun coincidence. Btw, it was confusing when you used "electric" to describe both the lipstick humbucker and the sensor in the body.
I've always been in the Taylor camp vs. Martin, though Martin makes superb instruments. This new Taylor is sooo sexy to me. Definitely a bit out of that Ibanez Tim Henson electric/acoustic realm. Looks and sounds terrific - well done, Taylor! You have my attention :D
Looks like a great guitar. Don't seem to be able to enter the giveaway from the UK with an email address, although this isn't on the list of countries which are prohibited... Using the Google sign-in works though.
You have to really trust a luthier called Michael Kelly to give them nigh on a grand for a guitar. Whereas Taylor? I think we've heard of them. A good small luthier is going to charge $3k rock bottom. So who's this Kelly bloke?
@@creamwobbly a Korean based builder that built a Les Paul style guitar for about the same price with a quilted maple top. It’s hanging on my wall next to my MKH Les Paul and I prefer the Michael Kelly.
*WINNER*
Huge Congrats to John Stemwedel on winning this awesome guitar!

How did the new pickup turn out? Feedback problems? I don’t remember the early ones having a body sensor?
My 2008 Taylor custom koa solid body electric is still with me. Only made 3 years. Awesome guitar.
You are right Robert.
This seems like a perfect guitar to grab and record with, not needing mics. It’s got a great sound too.
Super nice guitar! Thanks Sweetwater and Robert for the opportunity!!
I got three of them, ones a twelve string and they rock my world
Kudos to Bob and Kurt at Taylor. You too Robert, nice video man
Beautiful guitar. It would be a nice addition. Thanks Robert and Sweetwater.

The Hollies riff was great!!!!
Love the different sounds from a single guitar!
Very nice looking and sounding T5

Beautiful guitar and sounds amazing. Wish I had one.
Sweetwater is awesome! I’ve been looking at these guitars for years. Played a few just never had the money to get one.
i really like that jam at 1:50. i'm gonna have to steal that lol
Just what I need in my collection
That thing is gorgeous! Position 4 made me think Jar of Flies vibes. Love it!
Nice looking Taylor, interesting electronic layout. Thanks.
Great review! Beautiful guitar. Great tones.
You're dead right about position 2. I also loved the brightness of position 5. I could definitely see myself using that as a coffee-shop only guitar. Unfortunately I'm on GAS lockdown by the wife, but boy would I love to get that winner notification!
Wow, that koa top!

I used to have a T5Z, great guitar!
Killer playing Robert!
Just got my first Taylor acoustic GA in Koa. Love the Koa look and feel.
I actually recognized the guitar from the thumbnail. I have been looking at the 12 string version of this for ages, but it is basically unobtainium, so I might get one of these at some point. Hum . Well , at least the one I used to have didn't .
This guitar sounds really good... I didn't expect this.
Those have been around for many years and I loved it when I played it way back when!
I can't believe Taylor is 50, makes me feel kind of old. I remember when they were considered the new kid on the acoustic block.
This is a great guitar for the home guitarist. It covers everything.
very nice, looks cool and sounds great. Could be a great additional layer for the church choir-- always need 1 more guitar!
Always great playing Robert.
I've wanted a T5z since I first saw one.
great guitar Robert! Thanks for sharing. I love both acoustic and electrics!1
One of the only things that I’m interested in with this guitar is that stacked pickup.
When he was playing clean around the 12th fret it sounded like it was choking out.
Very appealing... warm sound and classy look !
Wow that is absolutely beautiful!
Just purchased a 324C.E love the guitar. This is a whole new animal
Exactly what I want. Awesome guitar thanks bro. For the opportunity.

Such a beautiful guitar, Robert! The taylor Hollow Body guitar has been a dream of mine.
Sounds fantastic Robert!!!! Hope all is well in Nashville 🤘
Nice 😊
The five-way pickup selector combinations for positions 1-3 given in the video are wrong.

Position 1: Neck humbucker and body sensor
Position 2: Neck humbucker only
Position 3: Bridge humbucker
Position 4: Neck and bridge humbucker in parallel
Position 5: Neck and bridge humbucker in series
I thought Taylor stopped making these.
There’s some great video of Brad Gillis using a similar model with Night Ranger
I think position 4 is the coolest😊
I like the whole T5 idea, but I have to wonder, is this similar to those IYV copies of fenders' acoustatelic or strat guitars ?
The sound is Top Notch & it looks amazing...
What a fantastic guitar. I have wanted to give one of these hybrid style guitars in a practical situation. I bet they making writing and recording so convenient. This is going to make a great prize for someone.
Will it chug
I would like to hear this guitar in the hands of John Cordy. It sounds great for jazz.
Thanks Sweetwater and Baker
Very cool guitar Robert. I haven’t seen one like this before. Thanks for bringing it to our attention and giving us a chance to win it. Many blessings man
Would it get lost in a mix? It doesn't seem to have enough umph otherwise?
I think it has enough midrange to by layered in as a flavor. I think if you are recording a part that the acoustic really needs to be front and center you might want to mic up a normal acoustic.
Looks and sounds like something I’d get along with quite well. 👌 Cool video Robert. ✌️
Very cool Robert! Always showing us awesome guitars. Good luck everyone.
Beautiful guitar!

Dude! that thing is sweet!
Is it acoustic is it electric very cool 🤘🎸
Thank you brother!
Definitely a different one today! The looks are stunning.
Absolutely gorgeous guitar!
Indeed
Never played a Taylor guitar have been playing for 50 year but it looks killer love to try one
WOW! What great sounding guitar. It looks amazing too.
A guy at our old church played the larger version of this guitar, this looks way more comfortable. Robert, you mainly play through your Axe-Fx III correct?
id love to own this guitar!
It is a beautiful guitar. The F holes are unique and nice. Agree with position 2 but also liked 4 and 5
It sounds as good as it looks !
Just started 7 months ago and this guitar sounds amazing 😍
Cool guitar
The stacked lipstick is cool.
I think this is our first Taylor on the channel. We don't get to watch Robert play acoustic enough and that's a shame.
For some reason I cannot enter the giveaway. The page would just reset whenever I lock in my email. What can I do?
I've been interested in those since I saw Mia Morris playing one (I had to ask her what it was). Very cool!
Great video, love the guitar, beautiful and sounds amazing. Out of my price range so thank you for the opportunity to listen to it and take a chance on winning.
I really like that guitar. Can't afford one like that. Mostly at home guitarist. Thanks for the opportunity.
Was so surprised to hear you start out with Affirmation by George Benson!!
Robert, cool guitar . I love Taylors. Just one question, not a dig, but it seems you kept changing what you told us what pickup configuration for what switch positions??? I could be wrong. Have a good one!
That’s interesting and your playing was awesome

Great lil' coffee house gig or couch noodling guitar!
Beautiful loking and sounding . Ive been olaying 40 years and i love it . Im entering the contest for sure !
It is gorgeous.😍
Very cool guitar!
That is a killer guitar
😮 $2800 before tax? No wonder you never mentioned the price!
Looks like a great guitar. Don't seem to be able to enter the giveaway from the UK with an email address, although this isn't on the list of countries which are prohibited... Using the Google sign-in works though.
The body sensor is position 1 on mine.
Almost got this one some time ago, but… I didn’t. This is a few tiers above a normal Giveaway.
Kudos to Seeetwater and Robert!
Koa is nice, reminds me of one of those Fender Acoustasonics.
There’s a Michael Kelly that can do that for around $850.
You have to really trust a luthier called Michael Kelly to give them nigh on a grand for a guitar. Whereas Taylor? I think we've heard of them. A good small luthier is going to charge $3k rock bottom. So who's this Kelly bloke?
