DESCENSO DE NABATAS RÍO CINCA 2022 💦 | NABATEROS DEL SOBRARBE | De Laspuña a Aínsa

¿Conocías las nabatas? Son un antiguo medio de transporte fluvial de los troncos de madera que se talaban en los bosques pirenaicos y que se transportaban a las serrerías, situadas en las partes bajas de los valles. El trayecto iba desde el Pirineo hasta Tortosa en la costa Mediterránea, ¡casi nada!
Te cuento un poco de historia... la tradición nabatera del Cinca se remonta al siglo XVI, época en la que ya se encuentran los primeros documentos escritos sobre esta peligrosa profesión. En el año 1941 tuvo lugar el último descenso nabatero profesional. En 1983, el cineasta y etnógrafo Eugenio Monesma tomó la iniciativa de filmar un documental sobre el oficio perdido de los nabateros. Con esa finalidad, y aprovechando la asesoría de los antiguos profesionales del oficio, se construyeron dos nabatas que recorrieron el trayecto entre Laspuña y Aínsa. Gracias a este documental, que despertó mucho interés entre los jóvenes vecinos del Sobrarbe, surgió la idea de crear una asociación para conservar y dar a conocer la historia y el trabajo de los nabateros.
Casi 40 años después de ese maravilloso documental, me pareció interesante capturar ese mismo descenso pero, como novedad, empleando únicamente drones para capturar la imagen y la tensión que viven los nabateros, haciendo partícipe al espectador, a vista de pájaro, de este descenso por el río Cinca. Una bonita forma de poner en valor la labor que desarrollan desde la Asociación de Nabateros del Sobrarbe.
El 1 de diciembre de 2022 la Unesco declaró las nabatas como Patrimonio Inmaterial de la Humanidad.

Did you know the nabatas? It's an ancient means of river transport for the logs that were felled in the Pyrenean forests and transported to the sawmills, located in the lower parts of the valleys. The route ran from the Pyrenees to Tortosa on the Mediterranean coast, almost nothing!
Let me tell you a bit of history... the Cinca nabatera's tradition dates back to the 16th century, a period in which the first written documents on this dangerous profession can be found. In 1941, the last professional nabatero descent took place. In 1983, the filmmaker and ethnographer Eugenio Monesma took the initiative to film a documentary about the lost trade of the nabateros. With this aim in mind, and taking advantage of the advice of former professionals in the trade, two nabata boats were built to travel the route between Laspuña and Aínsa. Thanks to this documentary, which aroused a lot of interest among the young neighbours of Sobrarbe, the idea of creating an association to preserve and make known the history and work of the nabateros was born.
Almost 40 years after that wonderful documentary, I thought it would be interesting to capture the same descent but, as a novelty, using only drones to capture the image and the tension experienced by the nabateros, giving the viewer a bird's eye view of this descent down the river Cinca. A nice way of highlighting the work carried out by the Sobrarbe Nabateros Association.
On 1 December 2022 Unesco declared the nabatas an Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
