December 1963 to April.1966 this is where I was stationed in Army. We were 155 howitzer , later got to try the 175 SP'S. Service battery, 2nd Battalion, 5th artillery, 36th Gp...7TH ARMY USAREUR.
Lived in family apartment. As you drive in, was in second apartment building on the right. Lived there from 1978 to 1980/81. Me and my brother grew up there. Stepfather was in 2/83 howitzer. Was a staff Sargent
January 86 - January 87. Was with C Battery 2/83 FA (209 howitzer). At 4:42 you can still see my old barracks on the upper left side, 3/4 of way up, the white, two story building. The lower floor was C Battery, 2/83 and the upper floor was B battery. The AFN tower is still there. The motor pool, new mess hall, and several other buildings are gone. Wow. The pool table is still there. I remember well running pt around it. At least once a month a certain BG from V Corp HHQ would show up and when we fell out for pt and saw him, we knew our asses were going to be running pt all the way around the pool table. Man, that was a huge field. Where did the years go......?
Seems like allot of buildings are missing, have been demolished. The dining facility is gone it was right at the other end of Rammers theatre, opposite of the barracks. All those old barracks that were past the d fac are gone too.
All officers family housing that was behing family apartment buildings are all gone too. I remember getting taken off the d.y.a. footbal team cause I skipped practice to go to rammers theater to see close encounters of the third kindl
