rip sharla man also check out the guide if you haven't in the description of the video it's basically enel's character guides -except more in depth- and in text form if you're into that thing, any feedback would be greatly appreciated! gale slash will eventually deal 2x its initial damage over the course of its bleed, so 3x what its numbers say on the arts screen overall. that means it can actually be a pretty decent choice in a big chain since overall it'll usually deal more damage than worldly slash, provided it gets out most of its ticks. the other important thing to mention other than its gimmick for demon slayer is that it actually has a massive arts multiplier, more than even the last hit of blossom dance at level 10+. for that reason, it can be a pretty powerful chain finisher with a super bad cooldown. the only issue is that it's not red, so unless you can use a talent art to combo it off, its reliability to be a thing for max comboes is somewhat inconsistent. that said, it's usually not _that_ bad and if you manage to pull it off, it can be super satisfying. but i do agree with enel's judgement that it's not that great of an art to have for just straight up normal fights. keep in mind that unlike slit edge, worldly slash only has a 20% phys def down rather than 50. it's still good and you should always use it, but it's just important to keep in mind. thunder can be hugely useful to guarantee hits if you're very underleveled and also break visions, including those of talents if you don't have shulk in your party for the easy shield. if you're using it in any other situation - it's mostly eh. remember that peerless does have a range and it's far from infinite. if dunban's other party members aren't close to dunban when he uses it, the strength buff won't apply. but basically peerless good, use peerless. if you want, you can actually give your party members the strength, put on a different aura, and the peerless buff will still be there for the duration of the aura. spirit breath is actually a pretty good aura, but the ai is trash with it since it'll only use it if dunban has a debuff on him. but if you're controlling him, feel free to try it on. the haste buff is actually quite good. serene heart is more for fighting underleveled since in normal fights the extra agility won't come up that often, or at least enough to make it a worthwhile contender against peerless. heat haze has the potential to be great, even his best aura arguably in certain scenarios, but it does require some setup beforehand to make it worthwhile. it's also very useful for topple locking since each hit will give you a bit of party meter gems and skills i mostly agree with, armor gems are more or less kind of universal across the party once you hit the endgame. stuff like debuff resist, recovery up, good footing, spike defense, topple resist, etc. are always good. interesting weapon skin choice... other than that, there's really not much else to say - a lot of the things that apply to reyn also do to dunban, so once you figure him out he'll be fairly easy to get a hang of, both for setup and playstyle. and of course thanks enel for making these videos, they're really great! love u man -nyar
If Demon Slayer is that strong, then it will make some funky Chain Attacks with a Melia/Dunban/Seven team. Discharge > Red Art > Red Art > Discharge > Demon Slayer > Final Cross > Discharge.
no, Gale Slash is a 10 Second Bleed, same as 7, so only 5 DoTs, as oposed to Riki and Shulks Bleed that are 20 Sec so 10 DoTs so for example Gale Slash deals 10000 damage, 20% of that is 2000, at the end of the 10 seconds its Bleed does its a total damage of 10000, so adding both up is 20000 which is 2X damage total and now for Monado Eater, if it does 10000 damage, again 20% is 2000, so after 20 seconds itll do 20000, so after summing them its 30000 or 3X damage
Out of curiosity, since level 12 arts scale linearly, is level 12 Headshot's cooldown something like 15 seconds? Could make for an okay-ish damage set-up in combination with Thunder Bullet and Drive Boost. But of course, the thing that will always hinder Sharla is how tricky it is to use her in chain attacks, I mean, only one red art, two purple arts but one is a non-damage sleep (can be used as first link though), yeah...

@@xx_pit_xx8492 The thing with Sharla is that she's the best support, but at endgame, support is optional, so why bring a character that does low-to-okayish damage when you can force your way with full damage chain-attacks? I'm glad that I wasn't just being an idiot when I failed to see why naked Dunban would work. I even tried it once because I wanted to see if I was missing something, but it worked about as expected.
As far as I know, it really is only useful when doing low level runs, because the agility boosts are better than the gems available at the time, and you need all the agility you can get. I only say this because the only time I've ever seen naked Dunban be seriously used is people beating the super bosses at like level 40
My love for One Piece was at it's height when I first played Xenoblade and the moment Dunban was introduced he reminded me of Shanks. They have a very similar voice, are both roughly the same age, are mentors, wield large but not oversized swords and most of all they both lose an arm. Shanks losing his entirely and Dunban's being rendered useless.
I was just finishing up watching the previous videos today and thinking that I hope the Dunban video gets released soon. Can't wait to build him all the way up.
Really didn’t understand him the first time I played and struggling to optimise him now so was looking forward to this and Seven to know what some of the best set ups are for them. Reyn has some variance but he is mostly straightforward
Really amazing work how each day there is a new video, you are so fast i really like that, i already subbed and cant wait for the other ones i assume Sharla comes now
Oh oof, I didn't know only one aura could be active at a time, always started fights by spamming three auras, now I know I basically just waste 5 seconds of my time with every fight, great! I guess Dunban's just so strong regardless that I dont notice only one aura being in effect lol.
Just FYI for anybody interested, Lancelot set has more ether defense, Rafaga set has more physical defense. It might be better to run dunban with light armor though because of his ability for light armor mastery, I don't know though because I haven't run the numbers.
speaking as an animation student something you could have done to account for 7 spoilers, at least for her character icon is to put something like a block over her face while editing
6:53 Wild down on Dunban? that must be one rare Arts books lol but yea I really like how in chain attack I dont need to use world slash to get the effect when topple locking.
I really wish this game had more potent Ether attacks, physical strength kinda wrecks anything without much effort Or at the least, Auras like Berserker and Peerless shouldn’t give such staggeringly high benefits compared to all other auras in the game
Another great guide. Personally I'm looking forward to Seven guide, I saw some people call her a weak character. I really want to know how to use her properly.
I used Sharla for a lot of the early game and started to feel like I was lagging as I reached midgame...switched her out for Dunban and used the tips from this vid and I'm never looking back!
One thing i dont understand with skill links at 7:48. Does Battle cry give more tension to both shulk and dunban? how do they work? cause i dont want shulk getting more tension, just dunban cause hes tanking
I enjoy watching these videos because I like the gameplay/mechanic analysis, but I have a minor complaint. In each video, arts and builds are considered as if a character has all their arts completely leveled up, or (perhaps more importantly) the video focuses on options only available in the endgame. Obviously, arts are limited by the availability of advanced art books and AP; you won't have anything past level VIII until well into the game (and you therefore won't have 100% uptime on Peerless, or most other auras for that matter). As for the lategame option issue, I think an example may be in order: Debuff Resist gems are not readily available until late in the game, so they are not a valid argument against Spirit Breath's debuff removal effect unless only a late game build is considered. While I think there is a great overlap between arts which are useful early on and those which are good in the lategame, there is nevertheless a difference between how you should use a character in practice for most of the game and a good way to build them to take on endgame challenges. The strategies that work in the last ten percent of the game do not necessarily reflect how a character is used in the remaining ninety percent, which is clearly more important. This may seem obvious in our minds, but making a build to take on Superbosses and calling it a good way to use a character probably won't help anyone beat Mischievous Naberius all the way back in Sword Valley.
I see where you're coming from and i can try to address this better in future videos, all my content on this channel usually focuses on optimization and postgame stuff since XCX and XC2 have much larger postgames than XC1. general principles for much of this stuff still does apply but i can try to keep the midgame stuff in mind.
Enel Yeah, I think the postgame stuff is a pretty big draw for a lot of people. I know that optimizing my party for taking on the Superbosses is a pretty fun part of the game, and certainly something to enjoy. I understand why people talk about that part of the game so much. Either way, I am glad to hear you considered my critique, and I think I would like to hear more discourse on early- and midgame strategies in the future from the community at large. I think the Xenoblade Chronicles community has a strong understanding of the metagame, but certain aspects of the game are underdiscussed. Still, since what you focus on is postgame content and optimization, by all means keep doing what you are doing!

Can't wait to see the Sharla guide. I found myself enjoying her in combat today.
Been waiting all day for this.
i can't wait for you to speedrun this game
Really didn’t understand him the first time I played and struggling to optimise him now so was looking forward to this and Seven to know what some of the best set ups are for them. Reyn has some variance but he is mostly straightforward
Fastest guidemaker. Can't wait for the video on best girl.
Nene obviously Kappa
Yessss keep em coming! Thank you so much for these!
Really amazing work how each day there is a new video, you are so fast i really like that, i already subbed and cant wait for the other ones i assume Sharla comes now
Holy shet i just realized dunban uses blades and his talent art is literally a blade art
Oh oof, I didn't know only one aura could be active at a time, always started fights by spamming three auras, now I know I basically just waste 5 seconds of my time with every fight, great! I guess Dunban's just so strong regardless that I dont notice only one aura being in effect lol.
Dunban's auto is only 5% of the gauge, so yah, Soaring Tempest is sooooo much better.
Especially in groups.
Just FYI for anybody interested, Lancelot set has more ether defense, Rafaga set has more physical defense. It might be better to run dunban with light armor though because of his ability for light armor mastery, I don't know though because I haven't run the numbers.
I see you are skipping over the top-tier party member. Do you know that you can't go through the game without her healing?
/s
even
Her crit healing is insane
She Is the best
Yeah when I put crit combo on Seven she literally always heals so you’re quite right /s
Healing for plebs. True patricians keep unloading Thunder Bullter with Drive Boost up untill cyberdemon dies.
Ur guides are helping me a lot man, tyvm! XD
*BORN IN A WORLD OF STRIFE* (guys you're meant to do the rest )
WE Choose to fight!
speaking as an animation student something you could have done to account for 7 spoilers, at least for her character icon is to put something like a block over her face while editing
The icon for thunder is a picture of a fist
I'm pretty sure it's just him holding his hand out behind him and shooting thunder out of it.
6:53 Wild down on Dunban? that must be one rare Arts books lol but yea I really like how in chain attack I dont need to use world slash to get the effect when topple locking.
Bruh you are churning these out. Thanks so much.
I'd like to point out that it's possible to do gale slash into thunder since gale slash sends him forward and sometimes straight past a small enemy.
No one:
Dunban: THUNDER FART MAKES ENEMY DIZZY!
Dont mind me. Just waiting for the Melly one so i can figure out how to use her
I am sure the AI can handle it.
oh no
I really wish this game had more potent Ether attacks, physical strength kinda wrecks anything without much effort
Or at the least, Auras like Berserker and Peerless shouldn’t give such staggeringly high benefits compared to all other auras in the game
Dunban is such a beast in combat
honestly this is good content!
#Fact! 🎃
I’ve Been binge watching your videos😅main reason I’ve been so interested in the xenoblade chronicles post game is cause of the videos
Awesome video as always
"Dunban is the true hero of the story but not quite as good as Duncan"
L m a o
Dunbon is epic hero when wielding thw Manadon't
The virgin Duncan Vs The chad Dundun
Dunban is my favorite to play as, followed closely by 7.
Another great guide. Personally I'm looking forward to Seven guide, I saw some people call her a weak character. I really want to know how to use her properly.
Here 25 seconds after video upload. Why yes I do SIMP Enel
Wow, Rain and Duncan are really good characters
Shut up 🤬🤬🤬🤬
Sweet this helps a lot thank you💕
That's Dunban over there!
"He's gonna stand up really quickly so like I said it's not a topple lock strategy. I *am* gonna topple him again really quickly, though."
I used Sharla for a lot of the early game and started to feel like I was lagging as I reached midgame...switched her out for Dunban and used the tips from this vid and I'm never looking back!
A notification appeared. Me: Click and press like lol
6:50 wild down? What is that? Or am I not hearing correctly?
Nevermind. It's one of Reyn's arts. Pretty sure you meant steel strike.
One thing i dont understand with skill links at 7:48. Does Battle cry give more tension to both shulk and dunban? how do they work? cause i dont want shulk getting more tension, just dunban cause hes tanking
Tension is good for everyone btw, max tension gives so many bonuses
@@EnelXC but won't that make me more susceptible to become the tanker?
excited for the melia guide
I beat Mischievous Naberius underlevelled. Don't exactly know how I did it since Titan Stamp would basically one shot my party.
I hate fortress units.
Still, since what you focus on is postgame content and optimization, by all means keep doing what you are doing!
i have around 300 hours on all versions combined and never realised that peerless applies to all members oof
Kinda wish Dunban had a weapon appearance for the Monado like how Seven has an appearance for the one thing.
A man can dream.
Lol made the dodge tank a physical tank
I feel like the Naked Dunban strategy is only effective early on in the game when you don't have access to good agility gems.
Ah yes, dunban the damage man. I've been waiting for this.
I got big news I am the 2,000 person to like this video and the satisfaction that came from watching it change was amazing
