How did the original Dinobot affect his clone?!

- One of the most popular characters in Beast Wars was none other than Dinobot. After his end in Code of Hero, he was cloned as an evil and loyal Predacon. But in the end, this clone betrayed Megatron, much like his predecessor? The question is HOW?

Scott McNeil: How many Beast Wars characters will I voice?
Producers: Yes
Dinobot is the epitome of an honorable warrior
Indeed
Rest in peace Dinobot
Because dinobot is piccolo!
Man with honor ends up in the same place no matter where he began
He was inspired by the predator (I think tho) but was as honourable and because of him we are what we are let us not shame his legacy by making sure bay will never touch him
I think we can all say Dinobot is a beloved character and will always be a legend. We all would love having a velociraptor on our side as a comrade, but truly cried when he was gone.
Even if it wasn't an accurate raptor still ihe was a good utahraptor
I never understood why Dinobot 2 sacrificed himself. It's not like he was holding back the explosion or something buying time for Optimus to escape. The best explanation I could come up with was he believed he should've died and wasn't meant to return. The last thing Dinobot said in Code of Hero was "Tell my tale to those who ask. Tell it truly, the ill deeds, along with the good, and let me be judged accordingly. The rest....is silence....", meaning his story was over and to not embellish it to make him look overly good or overly evil. Tell it how they objectively saw it. Then in season 3, Dinobot 2 came along who despite not being the same person as Dinobot, still tarnished his name and reputation of being a flawed person but was honorable and genuine to the end. After Rampage died, Dinobot 2 started to receive memories of the original Dinobot and everything he stood for. I assume he also recieved memories of his final speech right before he died. I believe Dinobot 2 believed that the rest should've remained silenced meaning that after he did 1 more honorable act after being given his freedom back in saving the timeline as they knew it should be laid back to rest.
That makes sense, along with his honor as I stated!
Yeah that part always confused me. Otherwise he would have been in beast machines.
@@RodimusPrimal Yeah. But apparently, Hasbro with the unmade Beast Machines sequel Transtech had plans to bring Dinobot back again sorta making his second death kinda pointless in a way.
Well, I think he was damaged, and as Optimus was on the other side of the room, it would've taken too much time for him to bring (or carry?) Dinobot with him before the explosion.
Someone had done a comic strip for after the Nemesis crash where Dinobot-2 had survived, but he hid from the Maximals until they left. He stayed behind to protect the Autobots in a way to atone for his original involvement for their attempted demise.
Rattrap: "Let's bring back Chopperface!"
Primal: "No, Rattrap."
Rattrap: "Meh. I'mma try it anyway!"
Even on that unproduced episode, Rattrap just did whatever the hell he wanted to do! 😂
Yes indeed!
And that is why rattrap is also a great character
Maybe. Maybe not. In my eyes, Dinobot was Ratrap's best friend despite their constant bickering, so it would actually make sense that he'd be the one to break the rules for him. Cheetor was more impulsive and it was Ratrap that actually tried to slow him down on occasion. I'd say Ratrap mostly did what he could get away with, like the bad influence uncle who's done some weird shit in his day
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@Boom__6678 Because he grew close to Dinobot
Dinobot is my favourite character. He sacrificed his life to save the future of humanity. An act of redemption and sacrifice. A true hero. A honourable code warrior.
Dinobot honor was so deep in his dna that it trascends into his soul, that´s why Megatron had to put Rampage spark so he could brainwashed him in the first place, if not Dinobot II would had rebelled against Megatron in the first minute
I remember reading that. Is that the official\canon or just one of the manny explanations.
"Dinobot honor was so deep in his dna that it trascends into his soul"- It was actually the opposite, lol.
@@eu29lex16 No it wasn´t
@@javiersantanaaviles5885 Sounds dumb, DNA/CNA has no such things, CNA it just schematics, a spark is that which has the self and character. In reality, the Dinobot clone should have been like Rampage 100 % ! And, at 13:55, they even said that Dinobots spirit/spark returned to influence the clone, it's why it got those memories.
So no, it wasn't a "CNA transcended into soul" thing, it's utterly dumb, DNA/CNA has no such properties.
@@TheOmegazerox It's not official, CNA has no such properties, CNA is just schematics for the body !
The actual explanations given by Hasbro at 13:55 is that that Dinobots spirit/spark returned to influence the clone, it's why it got those memories of Dinobot !And it makes sense, those at Hasbro ain't dumb, they knew DNA/CNA has no sort of brain memory or consciousness to it, it's just about the body and nothing else .
And you can actually see Dinobots Ghost coming back in the Transformers Kingdoms adaptation ! So yeah, the "his spark came back to influence things, and that it wasn't due to honor i nthe DNA, lmfao, is the canon explanation" is what happened.
I had just noticed, in "Code of Heroes" Rattrap's character model standing next to Rhinox during Dinobot's funeral, was his season 1 robot mode rather than his Transmetal robot mode.
Yep. It's a well known animation error.
Truly Dinobot knew his honor would retain in all incarnations of himself as he cannot exist without it. Thank you for this awesome video on our favorite warrior!
If anything, it just shows that Dinobot's honor was so great that not even death could stop him from correcting Megatron's slander of him via clone. And with Rampage gone that's just what he did.
I always took Dark Glass into consideration and the possibility that Dinobot's spark possessed Dinobot 2's body since the events of Dark Glass wouldn't match up with the series finale's events.
That’s the only thing that makes sense, especially since the official canon, fails that on all grounds.
Before all the info came out to try and explain why. I had always thought that Dinobot's honor was so strong that when Rampage's spark died it kicked in Dinobot2.
Dinobot has always been my favorite. Im happy to see him so popular even to this day.
Thank you for this amazing vid
Always loved that McNeil was the voice of both Dinobot and Rattrap. He also voiced Quick strike.
Yee! 😂
I just find it coincidental at how both Pokemon and Transformers Beast Wars were both released together in 1996. That along with Jurassic Park, Godzilla, The Land Before Time films, and alot more kinda made the 90's a decade for Animals, (especially Reptiles) as well as Robots and Anime. This is probably the reason why Creature and Mecha Animes are my favorite. Good video RodimusPrimal!
It would have made more sense if we got the deleted episode where Rattrap tried to give the new Dinobot the original Dinobot's data tracks/memories.
It would have been great. Have always felt season 3 should have been longer in general. Dark Glass would have helped greatly.
5:25
"After the two fought, The real Dinobot apparently *ate* his clone."
I didn't see that coming.
That "Dark Glass" sounds like it would've been an awesome episode. Not sure how that plot could be considered "too dark" in comparison to some of the other things the show did.
The Dinobot/Rattrap dynamic gets even funnier when realize they are both voiced by the same person.
Man! "Dark Glass" was indeed needed, so as the scene when Megatron is forced to return the G1 ´s Megatron Spark to it´s rightful owner! A much better episode than "Go with the Flow". Well Iet´s think somehow his spark was able to come back when his body revived, but Rampage´s part of the Spark was corrupting him, once he Rampage died, his original spark got free.
Other theory could be with the "Genetic Memory Theory", which states there is tons of information stored in our DNA even memories from our Ancestors, which may explain why some people claim to remember "past lives". When he was infused with Dinobots DNA, his original DNA gave him back his memories through he Shock, after all he is a Cybertronian, it should be easier for him to access this data from his DNA. New Dinobot... Same memories...
Trying to infuse some of Assassin's Creed in I see. Megatron's access to Dinobot's DNA came from when he was still a Predacon on the ship, so any memories would have to be before that point. However, I agree with you about needing to animate the missing scenes.
You know, I have never played Assasins Creed, everytime I bring up the Genetic Memory theory, they point me to that game. I sounds pretty interesting. Going back to Dinobot, the DNA can be extracted with any type of organic tissue, so after the battle with the Predacons, Megatron could´ve gotten any part of Dinobot scrambled in the firmament to make the new guy a better warrior, so he could have updated reflexes and expeience. Since the Spark of Rampage was going to be added, was going t be corrupted and loyal to Megatron anyway.
Dinobot. One of my favorite Transformers, and one of the greatest heroes in Cybertronian history
Best character arch in transformers history and one of the best characters in the franchise.
Would gladly see more analysis for the character on other media and the toys.
As always great job with the video.
Gladly leaving a like.
Agreed
You know I always imagine an scene in the afterspark, where the original Dinobot would have meet his clone, and would have tell him, "You did it great boy"
Code of the hero proved how powerful Dinobot was he was able to defeat all of the predacons single handedly and he wasn't even a transmetals and some of them were including Megatron not to mention he also defeated rampage who had an almost indestructible spark that could instantly regenerate his wounds and despite all of his injuries he was able to defeat Megatron with a stone hammer and because of that humanity survived and learned how to defend themselves.
I just started watching beast wars for the first time last week and I’m loving it
Such a fun show. So many modern Transformers fans should absolutely watch it.
Tell your tale to those who ask, tell it truly..
is it strange that I'm glad that we didn't get dark glass? it makes the recovery of memories and sense of honour, whilst unexplained, that much more meaningful to me; that this is just so deeply ingrained in him that it either re-awoke entirely on its own, or that his spirit somehow returned to help them one last time...
Excellent video. It's great to see you tackle not only a Beast Wars character but to me, the BEST Beast Wars character! Looking forward to seeing more!
I wish Dark Glass was made; it would've made Season 3 on par with Season 2. I've thought up a theory where the back-up was downloaded when Megatron grabbed stuff from the Axalon offscreen before the Maximals retrieve Sentinel and then Megatron used the back-up and downloaded it into to protoform-activating machine in Feral Scream, and the protoform having that back-up resulted in the creation of a Dinobot II.
IDK if that's been thought up before but that's the best I can explain it.
I think that when cheetor jumped into the transmittal drive when infusing it into the new dinobot that cheetors memories of dinobot fused into the clone and could not be activated unless the clone had a full sparked so I think that it's possible that cheetors memories triggered dinobots loyalty...
I always thought dinobot1 came back, because when depth charge killed rampage he killed half of the spark, which allowed dinobots1 spark to merge with dinobot 2 spark making him whole.
RodimusPrimal, I really enjoyed this episode! It reminds me of how much I LOVED Beast Wars and followed the early online community, trying to get any new info as soon as possible. Of course I taped all the eps on VHS. It got me back into buying the toys, too.
I think When Dinobot spark want inside clone Dinobot he regard his memory and become dinobot once again.edit he's one of my favorite character from beastwar.
This is one of the plot holes I actually enjoy because it leads to discussions like this. Fans from across the globe sharing theories and scraps of information that lead a character to live forever. When a cartoon character can still capture the sparks and minds of people decades later, thats a living testament to great character development. Excellent retrospective!
Thanks! Totally agree that fans the world over can do that! Till all are one!
Sure thing! And this plot got me thinking that if dark glass were to be the explanation taken, we could assume rattrap also shared with dinobot2 the original dinobot's fate, either by implanting the memory in a somewhat similar manner he did access tankor's memory (as a last desperate attempt at convincing him to come back) or, simply by telling him about it.
Awesome Video! I remember being at Botcon 98 in Anaheim CA when the BW season 3 episode titles were revealed at the BW panel. We were all excited for Dark Glass, written by Christy Marx, and majorly disappointed months later when it was replaced with the filler episode go with the flow.
Awesome. It does shed a lot of light on things with the production of the show.
Still consider dark glass Canon and taking place off camera, and I also believe the opening in dinobot 2s spark could have gave return of the orginal dinobot after rampage(protoform X) destruction.
11:50 is when he starts to actually explain how Dinobot affected his clone
7:33 "Whats a warrior without weapons?". *A warrior still!!!*
Before the dinobot, Dinobot was my first favorite TR character.
I've always wondered. If Dinobot was originally a Predacon, why is it that he had the name "Dinobot" if they all knew about the original group of Dinobots being Autobots?
84th retrodaftpunker it is implied that most of the cast names aren’t their original names but ones that they have themselves because of their new alt modes.
Using that logic it could be argued he chose a dinosaur because of the legends of the dinobots being great warriors, this is why he chose to honor that legacy by taking the name.
@@JohnWilliams-wl9px Oh I see. That would be very fitting for Dinobot if so and would make sense
@@JohnWilliams-wl9px well Megatron didn't do that
@@JohnWilliams-wl9px if this was 100 percent true then megatron would turn into a oversized speeding futuristic car. Cuz mega and tron
ShadowPlayz neither is Primal he’s been confirmed not to have change his name either. But BW Megatron name also wasn’t always Megatron either. He renamed himself that years before he stole the golden disk, but it wasn’t after G1 character but the one in the covenant of Primus (who we find out was just BW Megatron during beast wars).
Only Uprising gave him a name before he started calling himself Megatron
Scott McNeal is so good that he delivered a deathbed monologue in a stupid dinosaur voice and I still tear up.
I like your rift in the matrix theory. This would be a great issue for a new official lore encyclopedia to cover, scince I think sometimes they drop new lore in those.
Dinobot died his spark ascended to the matrix.
When rampage died, dinobot 2 passed out. then his soul reincarnated and remembered his code of honor at the end sacrifices himself again. I think we answered the question probably
Dinobot was one of favorite characters. I wished he could have been in Beast Machines
Robert Henry Scott but he pick he Faith and getting at the last time .
Also one More comment i had saw a comic where ratrap says goodbye to choperface before beast machines and after BW Megs had to return to G1 Megs (deleted scene check it out)
I like to imagine that Dinobot 1 could have repossessed Dinobot 2's body but decided against it.
Realizing his own struggles with destiny he probably offered his code of honour to 2 as a way to give him choice instead of just enslaving him as Megatron had.
Scott McNeil also played the Overlord in Ninjago. That makes him even better.
I wish we had gotten the Dark Glass episode.
BW Dinobot is my #1 favorite character.💚
I HATE that they replaced Dark Glass which sounds amazing with Go With The Flow, one of the weakest episodes. I wish it would at least get released in a comic or something.
Maybe his spark wandered back to Earth like Starscream's, minus the whole time travel aspect. (Besides, they were already in prehistoric times.)
WHY DIDNT WE GET THAT EPISODE. THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN AN AMAZING BRIDGE BETWEEN THE TWO DINOBOTS. This was an awesome video. Dark glass would have made the most sense. However, I find it interesting they used Starscreams Spark for its mutation on top of the fact Starscream always sought to better Megatron and Dinobot was able to do so. I wonder if, while a REAL long shot, was maybe done on purpose by the creators. Overall amazing video on my absolute favorite character. I actually have a Transmetal Dinobot signed by the voice actor saying, “and the rest... is silence”. I think Dark Glass would have been a perfect episode, but I also wonder if Starscreams treachery and Dinobots spark not approving was almost like a writers nod to each other. Thanks for doing Beast Wars stuff
Glad you enjoyed the video. I totally agree that the episode would have been well worth it if it were produced. It was the Maximals who experimented on Protoform-X by attempting to replicate Starscream. It gives a dark side to the heroes that part of their mission was to DUMP X someplace remote, but he ended up becoming Rampage.
I feel like "Dark Glass" is an epic, emotional fan fiction waiting to happen.
When I was a kid, Dinobot was my favorite simply because he was the only Maximal turn into a dinosaur.
"What's a warrior without a weapon"
"...a warrior still!"
Yes Dinobot! My favorite character from one of my favorite cartoons! I remember I actually cried when he died, just like primes death in the movie. I made my own fanfic of the unmade Dark Glass episode. I’m not sure if it follows how the original script was planned, but it’s my own version.
Tim Drake took that “restoring what once was lost” part to heart.
Dark Glass happening off-camera is the conclusion that makes the most sense.
Outstanding discussion, the link between Dinobot and Dinobot 2 has never been discussed in such detail. :D Thank you for this epic video RodimusPrimal. :D
I always accepted it as: Dinobot 2's spark was connected to Rampage's. When Rampage died, thus his spark joining the matrix, it allowed a brief connection between Dinobot 2's spark and the matrix. From there, I went with it being similar, as you proposed, to when Rhinox was able to revive Primal using a blank.
This was a good and interesting video Rodimus I like the video and I leave a like Rodimus
That's why I love Beast Wars so much - It was not only great show to watch cause action, humor and dark atmosphere. It also makes you think, like in case of Dinobot and his clone - what makes "you" well... "you".
Dinobot was everything Starscream (except Armada) thought he was...
Dinobot: “Megatron must be stopped no matter the cost.”
Sure wish the Dark Glass episode could've been included in the third season. Whether it was considered too dark or not enough action involved I still think it would've been necessary to air.
Transmetal 2 dinobot is so sick looking I absolutely LOVE his design !!! A skeletal raptor ?? Heck yeah!
Yes another video, I've been waiting for so long!
Thanks Rodimus your the best
Ok sure u did
Same here
I never really thought the “flashbacks” where literal. I felt as if they where just a framing device. Instead when Dinobot 2 was left without Rampages influence, the core of who Dinobot was simply asserted itself. As Dinobot 2 is about to sacrifice himself for his honor, we unheard audience see the scenes of his true self doing the same.
Admittedly this doesn’t really work as 2 seems to react to the memories as if he is reliving them. Still it was just the way I interpreted the scene as a young boy.
On a similar note. I wanted nothing more than Dinobot 2 to regain the memory of Dinobot, with Rampages immortality. I was a newly exposed Highlander fan and thought the idea of an immortal sword wielding, honor bound transformer would be the coolest thing ever. And you know what? I still do.
As happy as I actually am with Dinobot character arc, viewed with my more mature understanding of writing, storytelling, character development and such, I still the idea would have been an amazing opportunity. I’d love to see and IDW comic that was broken into a dozen or so 3-6 part miniseries. To follow Dinobot 2’s existence on earth, guarding the Ark, living as a shadowy protector to early humankind, perhaps taking part in early wars as a quasi deity that inspires some of the early human honor bound war gods lime Tyr. All culminating with an encounter with Optimus Prime in the 80s. Optimis is on some solo scouting mission, he gets ambushed and damaged, stalked through a primeval jungle by a shadowy monster eventually revealed to be the millions of years old Dinobot 2, who judges him worthy of the name Optimus before vanishing, never truly explaining who or what he was. The very last panel shows Dinobot 2, having come full circle returning to cybertron to and watches the axolon launch, and begin to wait for the return of his friends.
Not that the sequel series didn’t fuck that idea right out of existence.
Okay, I think I may have figured this out. I believe it was a combination of the events of Dark Glass (giving Dinobot II the majority of his original’s memories), Rampage’s annihilation (causing Dinobot II to flicker in and out with the original), and the Allspark being generous. In the final episode, Dinobot II is more like the original, even betraying his master, something the clone NEVER did. This leads me to believe that Dinobot entered the clone’s body as one last ‘screw you’ from beyond the grave, since he dies shortly after.
But that’s just my take.
2:28 OMG SCOTT VOICED FOUR OF MY FAVORITE BEAST WARS CHARACTERS!!😁😁😁
My favorite of all was the beast that turned into a namekian
I feel like this character had an effect on me as a kid, around highschool I started hanging with a bad crowd (they were good at heart tho) and they didn't hesitate to mention how I was an "honorable" guy and these days seeing the way that they act makes me wonder if I rubbed off on them.
Stay blessed forever PERPETUAL HONORABLE WARRIOR.
@@heartlessonlytomyself5383 likewise
I didn't make it far enough into Beast Wars to see his clone, but I understand that whole saga was pretty cool.
I really want to see a team up of Dinobot and Drift. They are so similar in that they were both originally on the bad side turned good and have a strong respect for Honor. I don’t know how that would happen but it needs to happen
Honestly I like the idea that Dark Glass didn't take place and that Dinobot's original memories came back in a more spiritual way and not just some suppressed code. I just think it has a more meaningful impact at the end, especially knowing that he himself should be dead. So he sacrifices himself again to save Primal.
I believed when rampage's spark was destroyed the cna of Dinobot called to his spark and so created a connection which caused the memories to be transferred
Dinobot was the best Character to be honest.
I think when Rampage blew up, the spark rift opened and Dinobot's spark got back in his new body, making Dinobot remember his old self and made him a hero again
That episode could of explained everything
This is a question I never considered
What the frick
It doesn't look like Dark Glass was intended to explain Dinobot II's redemption in the finale, but it still would have made for a better episode than Go With the Flow.
Looking at it in hindsight, the issue with the memories of Dinobot's death could be explained by Rattrap including some of his own memories.
The transmetal dinobot was very awesome chareter just wish he was on the show after they went back to Cybertron in my opinion he didn't die I kept in mind he has healing powers . Hopefully he will be in another story as a leader of his own team I do think the original was very cool and honorable.
My theory is that off screen Rattrap brought back Dinobot's memories like that canned episode all about that but the memories and Honor had to take time to load in into his hardware
Actually there was a scrapped episode that was like that
One thing I noticed that connects with the sub space storage pocket is that whenever Dinobot is in robot mode, his tail sword and spinning shield would vanish. I used to wonder what happened to it when he puts it away as a kid.
Yep. The Subspace Storage Pocket is a part of every Transformers series.
my personal theory is that Megatron when he used the code for dinobot this honour was suppressed in him when rampage die his honour came back to him and this is just speculation on my part he watched his death and fully remembered who he is
Actually I've found dinobot's re-awakening of the Original Personality to be analogous to Optimus Prime's at the end of Dark Awakening (an early season 3 g1 episode). In both cases they sacrificed themselves in a crashing ship. Possibly indicating that whatever the re-emergence was it was temporary since Optimus Prime was definitely dead in the beginning of Return Part 1.
2:30 that's a lot of characters that Scott voiced (has anyone questioned the fact that he's basically talking to himself but through different characters? since he voiced 4 characters from the Beast Era, 4 characters in the Unicron Trilogy)
First of all, thank you for doing this video. It was a good watch and I was interested on what someone else had thought on the subject. As to my two cents on the matter, it's simply my opinion, nothing more than that, so you can feel free to not have to read past this part.
This was a subject that I did a lot of thinking on over the years, and many, many viewings of the episodes to work out details for my own ideas on what went on. In the episode Feral Scream 1, the mountain top that Megatron created Dinobot-2 on does not appear to be a random location. It looks like the same one that Dinobot had hidden the Sounds of Earth (Golden Disk #1) on. Most likely he had chosen it due to the nature of lighting loving the area to use in the rebirth of his once loyal troop, or it could have been a snipe towards the original as it was where Dinobot defied him the last time as a Predacon.
If it is the same mountain top, then Dinobot would have had an emotional tie to the place (much like people claim ghosts to have) and in feeling that his task wasn't complete yet, had, in spark form, come back in time to reside in the clone, right next to the spark core from Rampage until it became stronger. At first Rampage's spark core is tethered physically to Dinobot-2 (Feral Scream 1, tub scene) but in a later episode (Nemesis 1, roughly 3 minutes in, including intro) its no longer attached. This is also an episode that would have been after which Dark Glass, so the memories would be there, just the original Dinobot's spark is not able to take full control yet due to the stronger influence that still comes from Rampage. It was how I figured on seeing not only the flashes of the old Dinobot when Rampage was destroyed, but the memories that would not have existed without the spark being a key source in play.
Now, with that said, it could be a simple continuity error, like Depth Charge going from only having four fingers to five randomly, but with it being a focal point in both episodes it's a bit hard to just brush it aside. It was just details like this that I look at in the episodes when trying I was trying to write out my own thoughts to not mess things up in canon. Yes, I wrote fanfiction that dealt with this subject, I admit it.
Again, thank you for your video.
Dinobot II and Rampage sharing a Spark raises questions about the relationship between a Transformer’s Self and their Spark.
It’s normally shown that Spark=Character. Optimus Primal was as dead as he could get, but Rhinox brought him back to life with zero loss of self or memory because all of that was part of his Spark. In other words, Optimus Primal _is_ his Spark, his body is just a vehicle for him to move around and interact with the world with.
But in Rampage’s case, it works differently. His Spark is essentially made to occupy two different locations at the same time. The Spark kept in Dinobot II is the same Spark inside Rampage, that’s why damage to one happens to the other. The thing is though, Dinobot II _himself_ is unharmed by skewering his half of Rampage’s Spark with Energon crystals, which should mean that he’s not actually _connected_ to it, he’s just holding onto it. Which would make sense, since if someone _is_ their Spark, then cutting Rampage’s in half would mean Rampage is in two places at once, and any body that second half was installed into would be controlled by Rampage. This would mean however that Dinobot II had no Spark of his own and thus was never actually alive like the others, he was just a machine.
When Rampage and Depth Charge died (which is also a problem, since the fact that an Energon blade had cut Rampage’s Spark in half without destroying it and stabbing it with Energon crystals was ‘merely’ excruciatingly painful meant stabbing his Spark with a big Energon crystal shouldn’t have been able to Extinguish it) what should have happened based on everything previously seen was that with his original body destroyed by Energon detonation, Rampage’s Spark should have immediately merged with the other half, which would’ve had absolutely no effect on Dinobot II since he wasn’t actually connected to the half of a Spark he was carrying around. Rampage would’ve just been stuck in DBII’s chest cavity, waiting for a chance to escape and find a new body to inhabit.
Instead we got DBII reacting to what was happening to Rampage’s Spark, even though at no previous point had that happened. He then referred to Rampage’s Spark as _his_ Spark, which would imply that multiple Transformers can share the same Spark, and that the Self _isn’t_ tied to the Spark, since Rampage should’ve then taken over the DBII body… Unless the DBII personality was acting as some kind of shell program masking Rampage, or the DBII identity was _overwriting_ Rampage, which would mean Rampage _became_ Dinobot II and lost everything that made him Rampage.
Another possibility is that, being made from Dinobot’s DNA, Dinobot II’s mere existence should have immediately pulled Dinobot’s Spark from the AllSpark, but the presence of Rampage’s Spark meant that Dinobot’s Spark couldn’t return from the grave until Rampage’s was gone. Then when it did, Dinobot’s Spark instantly manifested inside Dinobot II, allowing him to slowly remember himself like Spock or Gandalf. This could also explain why damage done to Rampage’s Spark didn’t affect him, because the Spark he was connected to was in the afterlife and most likely rather irritated by the Sin Against Primus that had been done to it.
Remember how Starscream took over Waspinator. Dinobot spark left the matrix during the explosion. A opening was their after the destruction of tiger hawk. After the second explosion and destruction of Rampage and Depth charge he had a chance to get out. He then combined his spark with Dinobot 2s spark which is why he said fe felt complete now. Now with the combination the og Dinobot core programming started to merge with Dinobot 2s instead of trying to take over he combined instead. Dinobot 2 called optimus, optimal optimus or optimus. In dinobot 2s final moments when he said farewell Optimus Primal the merger was complete. Dinobot 2 choose to die at that point. The only other time we had script writing this good was Transformers Prime because it was the same voice director of beast wars. Which is the voice of the original RC.
If you recall in the episode Possession Waspinator. Was possessed by Starscreams spark so that may by the key. Because if Starscreams Spark was floating around all of his memories and personality. When Megatron made Dinobot 2s spark he probably. Connected with the original Dinobots spark wich we seen in the episode Possession. That sparks retain memory and spirit of that Transformer. So Dinobot may have been inside Dinobot 2 the entire time. But with Rampage alive it was being suppressed that's why. After Rampages death it finaly showed itself because it was only Dinobots spark left. Whare as when Rampage was alive both he an Dinobot 2 shared a spark. So Rampages personality somehow suppressed Dinobots personality and memories. So the episode Procession was them showing that a Transformers. Spark is more then something that keeps them alive.
That it is literally their soul and memories looking bake it. Also may have been a for shadowing for anything having to do with a Transformers spark. Look at Beast Machines Megatron messed with Transformers sparks. But no matter what they always retain the original spirit and memories of that Transformer. Then there's how Optimus Primal came back wich is similar to Dinobot 2s creation. The only difference being that Dinobot 2s spark was a piece of Rampages spark. Whare as the spark in the protoform that was used to bring back Optimus Prime. Was a blank spark with no other conflicting personalities or memories.
Code of hero is still the best transformers episode of all time it brings a perfect end to a perfect character and still makes me a little sad but still amazing
I really want to see dinobot be part of a transformer series again, that would allow for darker and more serious tones
Genetic memory.
It's been discovered (or at least very heavily theorized) that organic beings retain a sort of cellular memory that can recall things, such as patterned movement or even cravings (for example, organ receivers suddenly having craving they never had before, but the organ donor did).
If we accept that as fact, then something so intrinsically coded into Dinobot's Spark and code would survive a minor thing like death and cremation... But it was stated Megadork possessed copies of Dinobot's cells, which is where the clones came from. And since Rampage's Spark was modeled after Starscream's mutated one, giving that mutation to Dinobot II could easily have acted as a beacon for the original Spark to return in the hour of need. And why is that? Because Dinobot was a master at doing something Megadork couldn't..
Megadork: "You're old technology. Obsolete! What can you possibly do?"
Dinobot: "...improvise."
4:12 So funny, i LOVE this scene, anyone agrees
As a kid I always assumed his original spark returned somehow.
thanks dinobot, for saving the beast wars..... TWICE
Going through the Beast-Wars PS1 game atm, and is taking forever, because;
1 - There is no Dual Thumb-sticks for a TPS.
2 - As we all know, older games are hard as hell.
3 (most importantly) - I'm only playing as Dinobot for the Maximal campaign, and every time I die, I restart my save.
Those who know this game, know the struggle...
megatron could have salvaged some parts that dinobot lost in his final battle , and some could have been some memory circuits
Thanks for the Boba Fett reference !
That's what i liked about dinobot they aren't all mindless followers of megatron and looking to kill for the sake of killing, some of them had their own goals or purpose dinobot was all about honor and being a legendary warrior. One of my favourite episodes I when optimus got infected with a virus made by scorponox and at the end of the episode dinobot was by primes bedside watching and waiting as his friend gets better and even brought him the plant as a gift and told him its good to have him back home and as leader 😭
Dinobot: remember it's alright to be a cannibal if they look just like you
An entire video set in the Beast Wars show! I loved it! Can I suggest that maybe you do Cheetor next?
I have a few things planned first but I will cover Cheetor sometime in the future.
@@RodimusPrimal Okay. Keep up the awesome work!
Wait dinobot's voice actor also did protoman? Wow I now wish dinobot whistled more
I really love that the villains who become hero's in this still look like predacons. They never get "hero" makeovers. (not counting beast machines... it doesn't exist in my personal timeline)
Happy new year Rodimus Primal, keep up with the awesome tf videos!!!
