If you look at the bottom of the screen the referee is launching a huge greenie into a handkerchief so I added the sound effect didn't think anyone would spot it!
Again, I was at the majority of the matches in this video. The cup semi-final was an absolute travesty, but the supporters did the club proud. I remember an article in the newspapers on the morning of the Notts County match by Billy Bonds, stating to the effect, that promotion was achieved and that it didn’t really matter whether we won the title or not. I thought it was a rather strange quote and the team seemed to take him at his word 🤷🏼♂️
The sending off in the semi final ruined that game. Watching it as a neutral, saying that I wanted West Ham to beat Forest, but it was a procession when Gale was sent off.
Some good teams in the second tier at that time. We got to the semi of FA Cup (cruelly robbed by Hackett), Sheff Wed won the League Cup and I think Oldham had a good run the season before as well so the gap in quality between most of the First Division and the best team in the second tier at that time was pretty much non-existant.
Another corner turned, we go up as Champions, and play " them" in an FA Cup Final. Easily the best side in that division, and the last team "they" wanted to play in the final. PS. We only played two games on plastic all season, and we had to play against the ref in at least one of those. PPS: We would have our revenge. And it would be on Boundary Park grass. Thank you Robert. Absolutely awesome. Ppps: I love Ray Stewart. Pppps. We should have kept Jimmy Quinn. A wonderful player. ⚒️♥️

This season was so West Ham. We so deserved the title I was gutted when we blew it. Them players bloody deserved it too.....

I remember Keith Hackett saying that the rules for cautions etc changed that week.....

Even more of a travesty with Quinn was that West Ham only sold him for something like 60 grand.
