We have the growing and Central Virginia and the cattle farmers are happy to take it as Hay but obviously it’s not safe for Horses stuff looks really good and is very hard but the ability to simply cut it close a few times and knock it out is very informative as well.
The two issues were (1) nitrate and (2) prussic acid poisoning. I believe I did not express it in the most assertive way. Also, keep it in mind that Johnsongrass is not an option for feeding horses. It can cause damage to the spinal cord and problems with innervations to the bladder and hind end. The acids evaporate within hours after cutting for hay. So hay is safe for all.
You were saying there were two drawbacks but I’m only hearing one (toxicity) ... what’s the other?

This video says that hairs where leaf meets the stem = Guinea grass. Your video says hairs = Johnson.
