Do you really think 1st rounders are drafted with their intention to be bottom 6 guys? I don't agree with that...I think you draft 1st rounders with the intention for them to be a top 6 forward or top 4 defenseman and then you settle for them being bottom 6 or bottom pair if they can't handle it...1st rounders MUST be NHLers or you're failing as an organization long term... Just look at the stretch of Doug Risebrough 1st round picks 2004-2009, those guys not only failed as top 6/4 guys, but also failed to make bottom 6/pair...

Your sentiment is definitely true of top 10, arguably so of top 20… but once you’re in the 20’s it’s reasonable to draft guys that profile as a 3rd liner
