I don't think they should trade the 14th pick. Something tells me there going to be potential steals. Prospects are falling and rising all over the first round
Agreed. There's so many late risers. 1 of Catton/Eiserman/Sennecke/Yakemchuk should be available at #14. I would be fine with any of them. Worst case scenerio we pick Jiricek or Solberg
Another thing to consider is that the Sharks will most likely draft high in the 1st round next year as well. So, I do like the idea of safer picks like Solberg. Additionally, Sheng's article about salary absorbing trades was good in this regard. Orlov gets my interest as someone who can still play on our top 4 and help influence our defensive prospects for a year. Even though Vlasic is a shell of his former great self now he's a valuable resource to them as well. I hope we gather a large amount of defensive prospects this draft even lower rounds could turn into gems like we've done numerous times. We'll probably be in position to get one of the top 2 or 3 defensive picks next year.
Also, we really do need to find some goaltenders so we don't do to Macklin what Edmonton did to McDavid. Wasting 7-8 years of his career when he was already ready to win cups.
I'm a huge proponent of Solberg at 14 just to get a nice stable piece in place that will/may help very quickly (likely 2025 if not this year). And then take a swing on a hopefully elite projected defensive piece in what will likely be a top-5 pick next season as well. Goaltending is a cluster but this draft also doesn't seem poised for any knock out talent. So that may be an interesting discussion for next year as well.
Solberg defended his elite peers (Bedard etc) incredibly well, obviously the players he’s gonna be facing in the NHL. Unless something crazy happens and some other guy falls that you *have* to take, I’m taking Solberg absolutely. Really fits that model of “playoff hockey” style, need as many of those players as possible, esp Dmen
I know its probably too soon to consider but a lot of the draft talk kind of misses the option of the next draft. Barring a miracle lottery/season, Logan Hensler is probably going to become a shark next draft and we'll have a very promising 1D prospect. Other options could be Boumedienne or even Alex Huang with Vegas' pick
The Sharks last year weren't worse than the previous year because they got Zadina and Duclair over "hard to play against" guys, they were worse because they didn't have Karlsson and Meier. They also tried to get guys like Tyler Myers and Tarasenko. Goodrow sucks.
To be fair, the lack of defensive depth is the cause. He'd be a great 5th/6th defenceman. They have him in the top 4. Behind some actual skilled defenceman he'd fit like a glove.
The criticism of the Goodrow acquisition from so many Sharks fans really blows my mind, just feels so unreasonable and over the top generally speaking lol
No it's not the most important or second most important day in Sharks history...yet, and there is no way of knowing whether it will be or not at this point. Incredibly naive thing to say.
100% agreed with Chris about Will Smith and Celebrini should stay one more year in college. I said the same thing about 4 weeks ago, but you guys didn't agree with me. Just looking at the Sharks roster, it's going to be very frustrating for those 2 kids instead of worrying about sit-attendants.
Chris is correct regarding Macklin. Let's go! 🦈🤙🏼

If we can get Sennecke/ Catton/ Yakemchuk/ Jiricek at 14 I’m with ya.

Grier bodied sheng at the warsofsky presser

I'm about to say " ...really . . . " But then again, wasn't there, either.
We actually REALLLY do love long episodes! Its a major draw for myself.
I feel like my " nerduom " has been rediscovered here. . .
Will Smith number one pick
Florida won the cup without Anthony Duclair. They made the right move trading him to the Sharks.

Goodrow sucks.
Rutta is a cup wining "leader" too, turns out that didn't help much.

This is the only correct take
He's never played an NHL game. He has no rating.
Two way king is awesome. Jackpot lottery
Macklin Celebrini and will smith and musty and Lucas and Collin Graf rookie
The criticism of the Goodrow acquisition from so many Sharks fans really blows my mind, just feels so unreasonable and over the top generally speaking lol

Here after Sheng got slammed at the presser, just having a laugh, it comes with the territory I’m sure
What about Henry Mews👀🤔
SOLBERG - I would be thrilled with that pick
I was so puzzled as to why they sent him away.
Good show!
