When accessing my qnap over the internet how do I get faster downloads? I have big files and it says it will take more then a day to download 1 file and I have multiple files I need to download
so for the first time, I used this to watch some content stored on my NAS from my mum's house (in another town) and I was amazed to be honest. I just used Qfile and didn't transcode as I dont know what it means! Never the less, it worked great. NOW, it had me thinking...Can I set up a user profile for my mum for her to access videos on my NAS, only from her house. Also would she be able to get it on her TV (maybe cast from the mediaplayer qfile uses to the TV - I dont know if it has that option.). I could probably get her access on her tablet but she will want it on the TV! Any uidea's guys?? thanks
*Only from her house? - No. networks don't really work that way however if you have a look at the Plex or Jellyfin programs (there's some really good videos on these programs on this channel) you could use something like that to create an account for your mum that she could access your media but there's no way to lock it to a physical location. fyi you can think of transcoding like translating ath evideo file, it might not be needed if it's in a language the TV can understand but it would be very unlikely every video you have is in one language (in this case the actual terminology is the codec that the file is written in)
Good evening, I have 2 Qnap NAS's and I am planning on moving the second one (the backup of the first one) to a separate physical location. I currently access the NAS through its IP address to access the setting and such with the NAS. Is this still possible when I move it to another location? and would I have to use something like OpenVPN to do so? thanks for your input.
After the malware attack, using the cloud do you have another way to access the nas in a safe way? ... LIKE VIA VPN... ANY SUGGESTIONS THANKS... AMAZING VIDEO GOD BLESS!!!
Any thoughts on how to accelerate the upload/download speed for this particular service? Is it possible that the QNAP servers are a limiting factor. Getting 1mb/s download on a 300/300 connection. The NAS is on a 50/50 connection.
Thanks for all the time and trouble to prepare these videos. Why is reality never like the tutorial ? I try it , my NAS says that it is connected to the QNAP Cloud .... but when I try from an external device I get "Connect to " ..... " ... Preparing ... " .... and then ... "Connection Failed" !!
When you connect a NAS to your home router, if you only have 4 ports but need another port, should it be a switch or a hub you extend the hub with to accommodate the nas? Whats the difference if its a choice?
Sir i have one question , Let’s see we are connected to nas using wifi in our home Then my wifi data will use or not ? If it will use wifi data so how we can access without using wifi data, through the router And please share how we connect nas to wifi using lan cables
If we setup a virtualization station, what is the best way to access these VM?. Do I need a pc and rdp or a quicker less expensive method which basically eliminates the PC.
I think this is not a safe way to connect your NAS to the internet. If the servers at QNAP are down, your NAS is also down. If someone hacks the QNAP servers, they gave also access to your data. Also QNAP has acces to your private data on your NAS. And many, many other reasons why it is nog a good idea to connect your NAS via QNAP to the internet. Better be safe than sorry!
Strictly speaking a _Lokal_ Area Network is not the _International_ Network even if the underlying technology is the same. A sportscar and truck are not the same even if they both have wheels and an engine. A more correct way to describe it would be "A bunch of devices with networking capability, connected in a private network". At the end of the day the Internet is just a bunch of (more or less) "private" networks connected together with routers. (And yes this is an oversimplification)
I had this issue recently, couldn't even find network. I powered off Nas, unplugged it for a minute. Plugged back in and powered up, everything was good after
"You are syncing the QNAP main domain server with your NAS." "You are not directly accessing the NAS, you are bouncing off of QNAP's own main server. So QNAP's server will now have access to the login of your NAS" Sorry, what? Isn't that a major privacy concern?? I don't want to give QNAP access to my NAS, i may use their products but that doesn't mean i trust them. Why does it have to go through their server and give them access? Can't i just give myself or others direct access? WTF?
I love QNAP but please do not forget to update your device, if you have not in a long time maybe even factory reset the device UPDATE and be safe out there let us not be part of the next botnet

Yes, just put the IP onto the URL bar in chrome. You can find out the IP of the NAS by logging into your router or downloading an IP scanner for your smartphone and it will tell you the devices on your network and their IP.
Don't get FOOOLED !!! This is the best method to expose your NAS to potential security vulnerabilities and get hacked !!!
Hi, i would like to know what are the security risks/implications in allowing external access to the Nas, and how can we mitigate them?
Too much. recently multipe QNAPs have been compromised with 0 days
When accessing my qnap over the internet how do I get faster downloads? I have big files and it says it will take more then a day to download 1 file and I have multiple files I need to download
Again, how to you setup a self’s hosted cloud at home so not middle man is needed? Please advise on a tutorial that assist with that type of setup
Thank you. How do I do the same thing using an app from google play store onto my android phone?

Hi, thx for tutorial. How to map qnap folder from the internet? So i can access from file explorer or mac finder 😊

Go to 1:50, and skip the preamble.
Wait, people buy a qnap nas and don't know what a home network is? I don't think so

Thank you - Now
how can I set it up like OneDrive, where I can see my QNAS from within my applications (MS-Office) on my desktop and Andriod, Thanks!
Would youbr able to tell me why my newly installed Qnap NAS Cloud Link takes me to my OLD WD MYCLOUD dashboard instead of the Qnap Dashboard.
Hello. Thank you for all your reviews and tutorials. I just bought a TVS-h1288S. You made my decision making process easy.
When you connect a NAS to your home router, if you only have 4 ports but need another port, should it be a switch or a hub you extend the hub with to accommodate the nas? Whats the difference if its a choice?
hi
can you tell me please how i create map drive over the internet ?
thanks

is this possible to just accessing the nas threw wireless at home if the nas is connected threw ethernet to my routeur ?

If i don't have myQNAPCloud installed, does that mean that i am safe from ransomware or other security issues?
Do I need to have a static IP for this to work? Good and informative videos by the way, thanks!!!
no
Does this work for double NAT situations?
If your desk to is a PC and nas is configured and most files are backed up from PC can you access files laptop is a MAC lap top rremotley?
I am in Austria - Perfekt - Thank you!
No worries, glad it helped!

Can you please test download speed from nas over the internet connection? (ex. using your mobile hotspot, try downloading file larger than 100 MB)
@Don’t Know I already bought Synology NAS and already regret it. Now I am just use Dropbox. No bugs and works smooth unlike Synology
how do you setup a second cloud account for another user on the same nas??

I was looking for QNAP remote drive mapping, couldn't find answer on your video. Rest is good. thanks
VPN
Great stuff! Very straight forward. Thanks for the skoolin!
Always have connectivity web fail, all ports are open, manually and by Upnp, Any idea for resolve this? Thanks
I had this issue recently, couldn't even find network. I powered off Nas, unplugged it for a minute. Plugged back in and powered up, everything was good after
This setup goes via QNAP servers, which is in todays world tricky.Like most NAS QNAP can be configured to connect directly via DDNS.
how?
I cant even get my cloud to create a ID to even say get started it does nothing???
very useful video, thanks a lot.

What happens if QNAP suddenly decides that the username doesn't exist?

I had the cloud working, then I did firmware upgrades (bad move), now, I cannot connect. THIS is why technology sucks!
this is just an advertisement for myQNAPcloud bullshit
Is there any way to Access QTS over Chromebook/ChromeOS?
Yes, just put the IP onto the URL bar in chrome. You can find out the IP of the NAS by logging into your router or downloading an IP scanner for your smartphone and it will tell you the devices on your network and their IP.
