Get a couple dogs. Get them registered as your emotional support dogs so they can be in your business. They would take care of your 4am visitors and certainly help you during an assault.

As a lawyer of over 40 years' experience, it is my professional opinion that any "law" passed that would attempt to fine store owners for using reasonable force to fight a crime attempted in their place of business would not withstand judicial scrutiny.

The constitution has the right to protect yourself and your property written into it. No state can pass a law that violates that constitutional right. People need to countersue these states for passing laws that violate constitutional rights.
