I bought this exact watch over a year ago, and has become one of my go to watches. I own several other watches from Lange to Rolex, and this just blew my expectations out of the water. The comfort, the brilliant bracelet, the elegance, the movement, and the water resistance all make it a fantastic piece. I feel like Cartier is a brand you have to get to a certain point in your watch hobby to really appreciate. Thanks for another great video.

I was magnetically attracted by the green dial medium, that I find gorgeous. But for some reason, I was not completely sure when I tried it. Tried the blue dial. Felt immediately in love. Perfect match.
The scratch magnet is an objective flaw, though for me its actually a good thing. I live with old dogs, and the scratchs will be a souvenir of them that I will carry all the time with me after they pass away. So the scratchs actually reinforce my emotional connection to the Santos. As I said this watch is, for me, a perfect match in every dimensions. Not to mention the accuracy of the movement (for now -0,52 s/d) even if I guess it may vary in the future.
    Yours is beautiful !!!

  • @bipennate

I completely agree: the Cartier Santos is iconic. The scratch magnet bezel scares the life out of me; having said that, the new green dial is one of the most gorgeous 3-hand watches that I've seen in some time (and like you, I tend to be a bit of a contrarian and like the fact that not everyone agrees with that choice 😁 )

yep it feels classier (cartier tank) but if you’re out and about and wears more casual clothes then the dumont will fit your lifestyle better. Hard to pull of a cartier tank with a t shirt and jeans. The tanks feels better with polos or business attire.

    • @jakealexander6046
      @jakealexander6046 ปีที่แล้ว

@@RitchieBui to me they look out of place. Fashion is a partly personal preference. If you feel like wearing a tank with a tshirt and jeans then so be it. But, the case I was making that the Cartier santos dumont fits the casual look better. wearing t shirt and jeans with a fit denim jacket fits the cartier tank better but so does the Cartier Santos Dumont. Feel free to disagree.
Oh I forgot to mention why it does not fit so well. it’s because the design language of the Cartier Tank is that of being put together and being slim so baggy clothes does not mesh well with it. The Dumont has a more rugged and bulky design so it goes well with casual wear but both can be dressed up and down.

    • @dinnerkill

I have the Cartier Santos large. It is a stunning watch and I find it hard to take my eyes off of it. I don’t wear it every day, and I have some micro scratches on the bottom part of the bezel. Eventually I’ll go over it with a polishing cloth. I’m not worried about, if need be one day I’ll just get the bezel replaced.

  • @DWilliam1

I bought the medium because I still wear a suit for work everyday, but after a few days I just found it a bit too small when I was dressed more casually. I ended up bringing it back and swapping it for the large. Large works with a suit and works great in casual. I’ve had for about 6 months and I love it. It gets a lot of wrist time and I own about 28 high quality watches.

Thanks for posting this. I’ve tried on both and feel like M is too small and L might be too big for someone who is suit&tie 5days/wk. But, you’re saying that after some time you acclimated to the L?

    • @DWilliam1
      @DWilliam1 ปีที่แล้ว

@@daniell2217 It works well with a suit and tie. I thought the medium might be a smidge better because traditionally dress watches run a bit small but the Large is so classic and it’s not too large that it works. The medium did not work well at all in more casual attire. The large works well in both settings. I get more compliments on this watch than my Breguet or Rolex…in a suit. I have the silver/white face one but the blue might work also(it definitely works great as a sports option). I highly recommend it.

I got my Cartier Santos blue PVC bezel 3 weeks ago as a gift from my father and I absolutely love it. This watch has so much history (the first wrist and aviation watch) and sentimental meaning (Santos being my last name lol) that this will be my heirloom to my children. With any watch comes scratches, so enjoy your watch! Wear it everyday because I know I will.

People fret about the scratches but then all high polish areas of any watch will scratch if the watch is a daily wearer. (end of). I love my Medium two tone and I prefer it on a dark blue strap, the sophisticated curve of the case hugs my wrist ...I sense the watch imbues me with a status and class that I do not deserve. It is instantly recognisable across a room to those who care about such things. I often feel a pang of envy when I see the 'straight' stainless no frills version such as yours and maybe, one day, I can put that right.

The shiny bezel is still my greatest barrier in choosing the Santos. Yet everytime I saw TH-cam videos about it. Or even saw someone wearing it in the streets, I find it much more attractive than Rolex. Cartier oooze elegant. Elegance that can be carried by both men and women.

Yet, it’s the shiny bezel that makes it so attractive. You can go at it with a polishing cloth, have Cartier repolish it or you can get the bezel replaced for a few hundred dollars. It shouldn’t be a serious problem unless you intend to wear it every day. I don’t. I hesitated too because of the bezel, but I got over it. I’m glad I did!!!

My wrist is 16.5cm and I don't have any problem to wear my Santos Dumont XL. My wife and I own a pair of two-tone Santos Dumonts. We can't do that with Santos because she has a tiny wrist(~12cm).

Ok - 1st of all, your content feels conversational. I LIKE that!
Even though l was listening, it felt like you were chatting - make sense? Anyway...great content!
Dude - the information was great, but I like every single shirt you wore in this video. Like your style, Sir!
Love the Santos too ... I'll have to save up tho, it's not sold on the casio isle.

The santos rides the line of classy refinement and sporty integrated bracelet. Perfect for those looking for something that can be paired with a suit and worn with business casual wear at the office.

This watch was an ugly duckling to me until I tried it on at an AD, only because the Dumont was to big. Bam! Instant love. This is one of my top two favourites in my collection. Never going to let it go.

Love this medium white, an absolute classic! Just need to go a bit easy on it, its a bit of a scratch magnet.

I much prefer butterfly clasps over fold overs, which tend to scratch the underside of my wrist. This watch looks great.

This is my daily watch, and yes, I too consider it to be “integrated”. The antimagnetism and WR make it robust enough. What a piece. I’m a contrarian too but not to a fault. This piece is too good to dismiss for the sake of popularity. Also, I’ve only seen 2 in the wild, so it’s not as common as people claim.

I don't know how you will grow to feel about the watch man but I have to say it looks great and as far as cartier goes probably my favorite design of theirs also but I will never pay that price for it lololol

You now can join the likes of Evan from You'reTerrific who have moved on from the Santos Medium. This is my biggest reservation about taking the plunge.

Nice video! but from a design and aesthetic stand point, it is difficult to fall in love with that bunch of flathead screws, same for the AP royal oak. Over-hyped

I had a list full of checkboxes when it came to finding my ideal watch. Leather strap, at least some applied arabic numerals (preferably with lume), as little polish as possible, long power reserve, 38-40mm... and then I saw the Santos.

I just wished they release a better quality white dial. with guilloche or slightly more decor (It's a cartier after all). at the moment every single thing about this watch is perfect. but the dial looks idk too "cheap". I will buy another one if they do that

I have had my santos for a little under 2 years now (in large part due to Evan from youreterrific). I bought a few straps from Delugs before the Richmond group cracked down on them. As beautiful as the watch looks on the bracelet I find myself enjoying it more on a leather strap. Either way it is a great watch and one I know will stay in my collection for a long time (I even wore mine in the delivery room when my son was born)

I love my Santos Medium. Now if only I could get the damn thing to fit. It’s either WAY too loose or too tight on my 6.5” wrist. Micro adjustment would be great…

  • @donaldneo4317

I have a 6.5" wrist and I ended up with the Large. Medium is a tad small and Large a tad big but I decided to go with Large as my dress code is more casual daily.

Is there a big masculine Cartier without the Roman Numerals? Make a Santos Dumont with bar/stick markers and I'm in.

There are some Santos Galbee out there with the date at the number three.
The anniversary series (which I have is one) I am not a fan of the new look of the bezel and the closing clasp that now is too bulky and not invisible any longer.

Hi! I tried Santos in medium and large size and I'm very undecided about the dimension. I saw that on your wrist the medium size is perfect. What is your wrist size?

  • @Bornia1982

Waaait but you said the Santos Dumont was the Santos we wanted!! I actually have this medium Santos and it is perfection. If I had to narrow my collection to 3 it would be in it. And honestly, it’s enought to be someone’s only watch.
