I like the bracelets but I have a larger wrist & my bracelet has gold inserts which I think adds a bit more detail contrast to the rather uniform steel. But yeah...to each, their own.
I think the Grand Seiko SBGE201 is the most watch for the money on this list. You get a true GMT sports watch on a bracelet with a rotating sapphire bezel, spring drive, 200m WR and GS superlative finishing. Its size makes it less popular than the other options. The Omegas here are great watches and understandably popular but never used to be in this price segment until more recently.
At the end of the day there is an abundance of fantastic watches at every price bracket. The real beauty of it all is that a watch is simply a personal choice. Wear what you want happily.
The FC is criminally underrated. Beautiful watch with a solid movement. I like the deletion of a minute/second track because it gives it a very clean look.
I like FC a lot, but it doesn't really have the mass marketing like Tudor for example . FC's history isn't that long and the older models before Citizen were controversial. However, nowadays FC makes great watches and has great lines like Manufacture and Highlife. So if FC celebrates its 50th anniversary and has great watches like it does now, it won't be as underrated.
Agreed. I was skeptical of FC at first due to how many were ending up on the grey market at like half off, but looking at just their quality and aesthetics, they're great.
My first FC is a Slimline. Had to go with quartz to get it to make it as slim as possible. The beautiful dial design is what got my attention. I do find that it does not feel robust specifically the sapphire crystal (which appears to be thin and fragile - it might easily shatter). A great inexpensive dress watch nonetheless.

Chose the 3-link over the 5-link bracelet for the toolless quick adjustment. Way more comfortable than my Longines Hydroconquest 41 mm.
Great brands, quality, movements, and finishing for the price! Tudor, Omega, Breitling, but again, we have to agree that FC is absolutely underrated and Longines have been phenomenal as of recent which puts some of the big names in the dust! 👌🏼
Hey Teddy ,, I have a question.. I own a Speedy and am left handed.. I decided to wear it on my right wrist because I don’t want to damage it. I only wear the watch selectively and I am thinking of getting it sized for my left wrist because I think that the watch would wear better with the crown and pushers facing the palm rather than my elbow.. This may be a trivial question but what do you think ?
Speedmaster 38 is a sleeper hit. My wife's favorite watch is a Speedy 38 with MOP dial. I'm also starting to see them in the wild. Great choice as an every day all around watch that is not very common. It is a great conversation starter with almost anyone, watch lover or not.
The Sea Master 300 is my favorite daily. No 2 is my Aqua Racer Professional 300 GMT in blue and white. No 3 while I have more expensive Seikos the Seiko 5 Automatic Sport in black and orange dial and band. Every watch enthusiast should have a Seiko 5 . And if you really feel a need for more , the Alpinist is a awesome choice!
Fully agree! The Omega SMP is one of the best watches around. For Rolex, I am not sure if it's fair. It is not really feasible to compare a Rolex at MSRP since the possibility of actually getting one at that price is low. I think the point of these comparisons is to imagine if you had that amount of money burning a hole in your pocket what would you get. I mean it's all fun and all but in the end, this could lead to an actual purchase decision. And when that happens, Rolex is not really a contender if you cannot get one at that price. But I would definitely want to see the next level up.
Please continue to sub-$10K range!!! The moment the video started, I knew the winner will be the Omega Diver 300M, not just because I own one, but because it’s just a beautiful watch and worth every penny and more in that price range. Love watching your videos, Teddy!!! ❤
Tudor BB Chrono has to be the most value for the price with Breitling's B01 movement with a Syloxi silicon hairspring from Rolex at €5.100. The Seamaster Diver 300 is currently €6.500, so it's competing above its price bracket. Just a few years ago, the same watch cost new $4.300. It was the best bang for the buck then, but not anymore.
Great video, but I actually like the previous format of displaying watches side to side more(I get that it requires having these watches hands-on, but it's just way better)
Never understand why folks are so bananas for divers. But yeah the whole tournament went down pretty much as expected/desired (except for diver fascination)
Tag Heuer Carrera 42mm on a strap for $5900 woulda been a contender, IMHO. Column wheel, vertical clutch, in-house movement with 80hr power reserve and a nice display case back. And for my wrist, 42mm fills out in a way that 38mm doesn't. Still, hard to argue with the Speedmaster 38 result. That and the GS Skyflake are the winners on my list, along with the Carerra.
This tournament is great but does seem like marketing plays a huge factor in the decision. I may be wrong. Omega makes stellar watches but the choices were pretty vanilla. Which should be expected when doing any poll. Would love to see a $5-6k and 9-10k contest of microbrands.
This is a fun concept that should inform watch geeks. There are some stunning Grand Seikos over the $6K mark. There are some good entry level Omegas just under $6k. Tudor is pretty much all in at the $5k to $6k range but doesn't offer the "wow" of the Grand Seiko. Omega opens a door forward.
Great options under $6K - having said that, it’s sad to think that if this video happened just a few years earlier you would’ve had options like the hesalite speedmaster, Oyster Perpetual and GS snowflake on here too! Watch prices are getting too high 😢
AMZWATCH is one of my favorite watch manufacturers they do offer beautifull dials, good workmanship & moovements. That smooth sweeping second hand is truly mesmerizing!
it's no surprise SMP300 just dominates in this price range - meta certificate, anti-shock, amagnetic > 15000 gauss, ceramic bezel and dial, double AR coating, brand heritage. Specs wise, it is superior to submariner making it the most robust mechanical diver in the world, but at 1/3 the price of a sub. How do you even argue with this?
Better than the Submariner? Not a chance buddy. Terrible bezel action. Where's like a brick and Omega use parts made in China. That's right the lame Swatch group has been outsourcing from China for years. Unlike Rolex that's 100p Swiss made, Better bracelet, Better bezel, triplock crown. The anti magnetism argument is pointless since Rolex aren't getting magnetized.
@@lonewolfemcquade8133 If you read carefully, I was referring to specs - the techical aspects of the watch, not ergonomics. Yes the bezel action is terrible and the wearability is inferior.
My personal picks from this group is a 3 way tie between the Frédérique Constant, the aqua terra and the sky flake which would probably be my #1 if you forced me to pick.
Great video Teddy. Next tourney should be 7-10k price range. A lot of heavy hitters in that price range that would make the voting interesting. Examples: - Speedmaster Hesalite vs Sapphire Sandwich - Rolex Datejust vs Omega Globemaster - Cartier De Santos vs Grand Seiko White Birch - Zenith Defy Skyline vs Breitling Premier This price tier would make for the most interesting matchups as most people’s “grail watches” fall in that price category.
A suggestion, if I may. Someone has probably already suggested it, but it would be cool to do this in watches that actually are crossshopped. Only chronographs in a tourney, or only 38mm dress watches, etc.
We really gotta go all the way to the $10k with these tournaments. They're just fun to watch.
Don’t plan on stopping. Definitely a lot to put together to make these happen, but totally agree, very fascinating to put together.

And for my wrist, 42mm fills out in a way that 38mm doesn't. Still, hard to argue with the Speedmaster 38 result. That and the GS Skyflake are the winners on my list, along with the Carerra.
I have own both the Aquaterra and the 300 m and its no surprise that this pieces came as far in this tournament, love them both beautiful
Me too. Both are great watches.
This is definitely a favorite segment
I have a feeling Omega and the Seamaster are on their way to doing what Rolex and the Submariner did. Make history.
Not surprised w the result 👌
AMZWATCH is one of my favorite watch manufacturers they do offer beautifull dials, good workmanship & moovements. That smooth sweeping second hand is truly mesmerizing!
What do you think about the Aquastar Deepstar II with silver champagne dial?
it's no surprise SMP300 just dominates in this price range - meta certificate, anti-shock, amagnetic > 15000 gauss, ceramic bezel and dial, double AR coating, brand heritage. Specs wise, it is superior to submariner making it the most robust mechanical diver in the world, but at 1/3 the price of a sub. How do you even argue with this?
A third? Sub is £9k, Seamaster £5600.
@@kfkwAL7 market value, the value people actually pay. Nobody can buy a sub at retail and nobody will buy a seamaster at retail
@@kfkwAL7either way it’s a better watch for less.
Love AMZWATCH watch, Such a great looking watch to match with the precisionist movement.
love these competitions. where do i cast my votes?
My personal picks from this group is a 3 way tie between the Frédérique Constant, the aqua terra and the sky flake which would probably be my #1 if you forced me to pick.
I love these tournements! They are nearly as entertaining as Jelle's Marble Runs.
Great video Teddy. Next tourney should be 7-10k price range. A lot of heavy hitters in that price range that would make the voting interesting.
Examples:
- Speedmaster Hesalite vs Sapphire Sandwich
- Rolex Datejust vs Omega Globemaster
- Cartier De Santos vs Grand Seiko White Birch
- Zenith Defy Skyline vs Breitling Premier
This price tier would make for the most interesting matchups as most people’s “grail watches” fall in that price category.
I second this!
@@Sumtin_Randumbyes! It opens it up for more competition for sure.
Loving the series
Can we see previous winners highlighted in the various price categories?
Gotta Love @teddy
I love these tournaments.
These tournament vids are my favorite of yours
we need a best under 7k,8k,9k and 10k and then a 15k and so on, we are over excited for these tournaments.
Great tourney. Keep it going.
A suggestion, if I may. Someone has probably already suggested it, but it would be cool to do this in watches that actually are crossshopped. Only chronographs in a tourney, or only 38mm dress watches, etc.
