This was sorta rushed because I don't want to delay it till my finals lol For my next upload, I want to do something fun and silly after all the long, and serious vids lately (likely Ovenbreak again) There won't be much activity at least until December or next year :P Have a nice day, y'all :3
When you talked about the fact that pity doesn't carry, it actually does but it only carries if the amount of MLs are the same. For example if there is a banner that has all 4 MLs then the pity carries to the next banner that also contains 4 MLs. Other than that I absolutely agree with your other points I've been playing this game since the beta and I'm glad that the community isn't as toxic as other ones.
yea one thing i never liked about tot was the convoluted pity system (also 100 pity is too much imo for the amount of chips they give). one reason i quit playing after 2nd anniv was because i got sick of hitting hard pity almost every banner, combined with the fact that the pity carry over is so inconsistent
That's not entirely accurate. ToT has many banner types and remembering them all isn't too hard. Pity is only carried between banners of the same type except limited banners, which are the banners with 4SSRs. Limited banner pity never carries over to the next limited banner. For example, pity on the 1st anni banner doesn't carry over to 2nd anni's banner or Bakerlon's pity doesn't carry over to Enduring Light. 2SSR events and solo SSR events share the same pity while solo SSS banners carry pity to the next SSS banner. Feel free to ask if you have any questions. I tried to simplify it but what I said doesn't cover everything.
No, 4SSR banners carry pity only to it's own rerun. Not to the next 4SSR banner. It's 2SSR banners that carry over to the next 2SSR banners. Birthday banners are a bit more complicated. They continue to the next bday banner but 1st reruns have their own continuing pity count and 2nd reruns have their own
The community not being toxic is just a result of the game not being as popular. Popular media attracts toxic fanbase. It's an inevitability. When there are millions of people in a single fandom, there is ought to be a larger number of shit people inside it.
I wouldn't call it "forgotten", definitely unpopular but it's crazy how, as you just said, there's so much things to do. Out of all the gacha games I've played, Ive definitely cursed this game the most cuz.. I almost never get the cards I want. But the good thing is, the stuff to do are enough motivation to enjoy the game. Not to mention the amount of merch they have that are comparable to other hoyo games. All of the boys literally got their nendoroids released even before zhongli's pre-order period.
There's probably more merchandise because this game is unpopular and doesn't make as much sales as the other games do. The other games doesn't need much merchandise because they make tons of money.
@@JeffUniunpopular for global yes but we have stable player. in their homeland china, this game can top the charts for its genre (girls oriented game) and for merch, all of this kind of game having a tons of merch and is not an excuse for "they don't make money from the game". surprise, first time knowing this kind of game?
The game resources in Tears of Themis is small compared to the other Hoyo games but their merch drops are insane in amount compared to the other games. Their recent collabs with other brand company (judydoll makeup, hornell beef jerky, duoduo lemon tea collab) also never fails. they keep on releasing them cause they know that the fandom will definitely buy them even if they just paste the mls faces on them
Yeah, the merch are definitely something else. There’s like perfume, soap and all sorts of stuff. Surprised they haven’t done like actual clothing lines XD
@@mirratheartist they have shirts, scrunchies, umbrella, pj's, and baseball caps as far as I know but they're more on the homewear side than Genshin's and Star Rail's streetstyle fashion wears
@@mirratheartist but in ToT , you can copy any ML's clothing style with clothes you can find online so there's really no use for them to release a clothing line
As soon as I saw the thumbnail I had to watch. It's so rare to see Tears of Themis content so this is definitely a joy to see. The video is really well done and not too long. The brief summary for the game is well thought out and very interesting to watch. (^v^) b
I'm definitely shocked this game is still alive. I haven't really seen much gameplay of it, but I'm guessing it's forgotten because it doesn't have the same 3D and general polish of any other Hoyo game. Overall I'm glad it's alive though since I understand it's a particular game for people who enjoy it (and not that it's bad, it just lacks overall wide appeal).
I think its just because this game seems to have 0 marketing Like for Real I played every other Hoyo game they have available at least for a bit and enjoyed content of it and I never got any ad, any video about ToT This video is litteraly first in my life I ve seen about it
@@Charlett Correct. ToT is barely marketed by Hoyo. They are way busier with HSR, Genshin and now ZZZ. They don't seem to really care much about promoting ToT. It's a game that's probably just in the backlog now and there isn't really much expectation to derive profit from it.
omg crazy to see tot content in the 3 years of playing since its global cbt release 😭 i remember getting into this game when i saw hoyoverse had an otome game in china (plus the ace attorney elements) and freaked out when i saw it coming for global. i agree with the major events and i get so busy for that month, i missed finishing it and get all rewards LOL it is kind of sad to see the game not getting the same hype as others but honestly, i'm glad they still cater the story in the game and the events plus heck, they go crazy for the merchandise like the collab with judydoll for fans. my heart was so happy to get the mail about getting a physical letter for second anniversary and they prioritized the old players that are still playing :'D also winning giveaways has been so much fun since its the only time i get my hands on official hyv merch without spending haha this game has my heart so much since release i love seeing the relationship developments from meeting them at the start and now getting engaged. i could never see myself stop playing anytime soon TT edit: miscounted the years ^^;;
The game’s quality is certainly amazing and the story too. (P.s: I like that I actually have a high chance of winning merch in this small fandom lol. I actually did win)
I don’t think I’ve ever gotten a tot recommended video, it’s nice for the game to be talked about! I’ve been playing since release and it’s definitely one of my favorites. I’m f2p so it’s definitely annoying not getting all the cards I want but with card stories available online I don’t really mind
The only time Tears of Themis fandom was dragged into mess is because of that one post about Genshin upon Natlan released drama where they mentioned the games old event Secrets of the Tomb where it was mentioned that the mls outfits are sexualize/Egyptian culture being sexualized
Yeah… that’s what I was referring to in the vid. The most ridiculous part is that the guys are supposed to be Chinese and it’s an au. I’m not denying any criticism towards Hoyo and their questionable ethics but context matters.
@bananananana_200 i feel like tot and the word sexualize can never sit at one table lol it is hard to call something sexualizing when the story builds them with so much character and emotions
That shit is funny cuz when that event got released it already got criticized by CN players cuz Hoyo did not do Egyptian themes well so they went back to only doing CN traditions and European AUs. The Genshin fans who claim to be "veteran" TOT players too don't know shit about it. They just want to keep complaining when TOT already accepted their accountability about that event
Probably one of the very few ToT content TH-cam Algorithm has recommended to me, and honestly, I'm not complaining, in fact this video actually tempted me to go revisit the game again. I forgot when I started playing, some time after its release maybe, and I stayed around for a while until my storage started dying on me :') the second time I dropped the game was due to how weak I was with the cards, typical me struggling to farm for gacha currency and not getting anything good, so it became quite a struggle for me to progress through the story without repeatedly dying and trying (and spending resources to level up my cards). But the game and story itself is quite good imo, no complaints from me regarding those. Maybe I'm just being dumb lmao, but eh, Imma gonna try pick up the game again :D (if you guys want to, I'm willing to accept a couple of friend requests). Ah yes, if y'all have some, I'd very much like some advices so when I return to the game, I don't end up using my resources irresponsibly and ended up regretting it later down the line :')
It is what it is. I’ve also suffered from the gacha :,). However I always firmly believe that the story’s pretty fun. Also, the recent update gave the option to delete card stories, animation resources so it’s much better :3
I definitely agree on the point of tears of themis just being an unpopular game, cause yes its an otome game. Otome games haven't been that popular outside of China, Tears of Themis has actually been improving a lot (I do play in tw/cn server) they have been pushing really hard for the game story and art wise (including animation for they're sss cards *higher than ssr cards). Most tot events are short but for global players we get a head start since cn / tw server are faster so we kinda expect lots of stuff. I wouldn't say they're gacha is bad considering most people stick too 1 main lead and unlike hsr/genshin that have diff characters! For collabs aspect i would say 'globally' (outside of china and Japan) they are quite hard since most collabs for hoyoverse game don't rly do them best is probably hoyofest (which heck some countries don't feature tot) I would like to add the merch aspect! As someone who collects lots ot Artem merch they're merch does not disappoint its clear they still make the effort (unlike other popular otome game LOL) They constantly push more merch drops (once a month). For me tot is a comfy space with the fandom being a soft and safe spot, i know fandoms who gotten worse bcs of their growth. Tot is definitely one of those semi laid back games that i enjoy ❤ I am sucker for tot art cards especially this year (in china/tw servers!) They are so gorgeous 🥹 I hope that tot continues to improve and grow, even if we are unpopular i just know there is a dedicated team who genuinely cares about this game and its community!
My friend is a passionate Themis fan and finally convinced me to play. But I didn't really have time to read story at the moment. When I came, there was some event going on, and as a gacha veteran I have fomo ingrained in my bones. But the event was locked under the story progress, as well as almost all gameplay. So I decided to just skip the first chapters and read them later. I was really shocked when I realized how long they were! If you are into sroty reading it's great, but I was a newbie buried under tons of stamina I really wanted to spend, and it would take me weeks to carefully read all that. Finally I muddled through the story and unlocked gameplay, but by that time event already ended. Then that event with the train that was in the video started. I tried to play normally but it took so much time. I was really busy and just couldn't spend so much free time on the game. In the end I wanted the rewards so I started to use autoclicker to get through it. I did it for 2 days for a few hours, but wasn't even halfway done. In the end I broke (and my phone almost did too) and deleted the game. My friend is still upset because I didn't experience the game as it's supposed to be played... Now she would just retell me her favorite plots.
This video is so underrated! I love how you analyzed and talked about the game, and I wish I discovered the game sooner. I love both the mystery aspect of the game and the romance, and this is my second hoyo game I spend a lil money on. The art, story, and characters are all super interesting to me, and it’s a nice break to play at the end of the day. And while I wish it was more popular, I am glad the community is small. I was genuinely surprised how non toxic the community was, and it’s refreshing coming from a genshin and hsr player.😅 (any ToT post I made on HoYoLAB always got super supportive, and chill comments. Idk how to describe it, but the community is just different, comforting even) its recent anniversary was what got me into the game after getting its promotion on HoYoLAB, and I am glad I got into it! And while it may have its flaws, and confusing pity system, I think I’ll continue playing it for a long time. ❤
Great video, the beginning was really strong with that Vyn meme, amazing! The person who made it must have the best sense of comedy 😏 But in all seriousness, I love the points you made. Take it from someone who has seen small fandoms blow up and burn before, I wouldn't change our community for the world! ^^
Im a die hard Vyn fan and while I did stop playing a year ago, Im so glad there's enough traction in the game for this video to be a thing. I ADORE the gameplay of ToT so much and I love that they made Rosa her own thing while being a self-insert. There's so much thought put into the game and tbh after watching, despite the flaws I found with it, I really want to pick it up again!
Honestly, the characters have so much depth and I love them too death 😖. So many times now, I’ve had to remind myself that they aren’t real and it actually makes me feel a bit empty inside :( I’d totally date any one of them off they were real, even Rosa. But like, I’d say I’m too much of a girl failure for the queen herself 😞
Did you know that in the TW (and probably definitely the CN) version of the game there's a redeem system for the Rotation banner similar to the limited banners when pulling? In which you can redeem past free SR event cards AND the current cards in the Rotation banner after gathering a certain amount of those from pulls from the rotation banner *and* the standard banner? (and I think like 5 normal tears?) I will always be perpetually salty that it wasn't added in the global version
I've been playing tot pretty much since the beginning thanks to a sponsor and I like it a lot! loved the video, I can tell you put a lot of passion into it! super looking forward to that character analysis video :D
I always remember when a player said that they stop playing the game on their post on tot hoyolab, someone reply "you're free to stop" without being so mean. And i like "wow, this fandom is so peaceful, no meanie player, no toxic" and that makes me love tears of themis. Like another day i found out a post in X said "if you're a ToT player, you are my friend" and i found that are very heartwarming and that makes me happy, we're just fangirl-ing together, being sad together, talking how hard some of the mini games and how we lost in our gacha. Maybe because most of the player are girls and how girls are easy to vibe each other (it's not like boys are not) and that makes the fandom are peaceful I'm hiautus on playing the game now, but no metter how long i stop play the games or how much it takes my phone memories, but it won't make me uninstall the game and one day i will open the game, waiting untill the update finish, and Davis will announce me how long i've been off and Vyn will greet me as usual, i will enjoy the stories while I'm snacking on my bed. Thanks Hoyo for making this game
Well, I don’t think many Hoyo players would be the same. I did a survey once and about the same amount of people played other games Hoyo games before ToT was the same as the amount of those who didn’t. So, I’d say when listing Hoyo games, most wouldn’t be likely to know about ToT
OMG TOT CONTENT IN THIS ECONOMY I really love the game but I have to miss some events since I end up deleting the game when i feel tempted to spend money (when it first came out i spent a lot for my standards, so I'm trying to not fall back on that). But even if I'm not actively playing, I still keep up with what's happening and I'll always love Marius. Thank you so much for the video 💕
I started playing since the release because of the amazing Japanese voice actors!! But I got mesmerized by the amazing and well written story and also the characters! ❤️Shout out to Luke fans, because being a Luke stan isn’t easy at all!!!
Ahhh love to see someone actually talking about this game!! Tears of Themis is such a cosy game for me due to the music and very casual gameplay and it’s so nice to see it get acknowledged 😭💖
I'm glad that their fanbase isn't as big cuz the fandom would be so.. I was there since release and i love everything even the fan base is so sweet and I'd hate for it to turn into how genshin is lol
Tears of Themis was actually my first otome game (and hoyoverse game!) when it was released. Playing it led to me playing more and now I really love otome games lol. To this day, even if I haven't played in a while, the game is still close to my heart. Even if the gacha got on my nerves lol. Watching your video makes me miss playing it. I've recently playing honkai star rail mostly, but maybe I'll check back in for the memories! Love this video by the way!
Out of all the Hoyoverse games, it’s currently the only one I play. I’ve played it for 3 years and dropped it for a while, but I picked it up again 2 months ago and haven’t stopped playing since- seriously. I’ve logged in EVERY DAY for that long. I love this game. I will do ANYTHING for my pookie Luke, he is my husband and I always forget his doomed story line tho…. And then I get depressed 😰 anyways--! Tears of Themis is PEAK!!!!! I love it sm!!!! 💖
I play Tears of Themis. I've been playing for quite a while, since not long after it's English release. The story enticed me so did the mystery aspect, I'm also a diehard fan of otome games so it feels perfect. I always knew Tears of Themis was more money grabby than genshin, I watched it get progressivly worse. I've looked passed it cuz though being f2p was hard it wasn't impossible in the slightest, I also liked the story enough to push past never getting cards I want. I took such an extremely long break after this years anniversary event though, a very needed one. I pulled for one of the SSS cards not fully knowing how it worked an lost my 50/50 three flipping times. By the time I fully understood how they worked I had already spent soo much of my hard earned chips into it so I had to keep going. I was only able to pull 98 times, I didn't get my card and all 98 hard earned pulls were gone. This was right after I lost my 50/50 on Marius' birthday banner and had to reach 100 for my guarantee. I actually spent for the first time to reach that 100, I do art commissions to earn money in my free time as a broke student. I was saving for an IPad but I thought using just a little of my to get a 10pull wouldn't hurt when I reached 90. I thought about doing the same thing for the SSS but I didn't want me spending to become a habit. Plus if I kept doing it eventually it would spread to other games and my savings would vanish. It became quite exhausting to be f2p for a while, logging at least twice everyday to grind became exhausting. Those 98 pulls down the drain just hurt. I wouldn't have pulled for the SSS if I knew the mechanics behind it at all. I've taken a break since then. It's less losing a 50/50 but moreso how it feels like they don't care about us f2p's as an OG player. I've decided to stop worrying sm about getting the newest card or the guy I want(I've actually grown attached to all 4 after playing for soo long). I’ve been soo busy grinding that I actually fell behind in main story. I started playing again recently for Luke's birthday as he was the first dude I liked enough to pull on his banner(still don't have a single SSR of him though, have a love hate relationship with that fact) and still in my top 2 if I were to rank the guys. I want to have fun playing the game again and so far it has been really fun too
I wish tot had cross overs in their other games, they could do it, they're doing the fantasy cards, so why not put those fantasy versions into hsr or smth, i think it's the most welcoming for the way the characters look and the way they tell stories, they could just make up some random isekai portal and there would be no issues, these people are about to shove in fate into hsr, come on, that could boost interest into tot and show players that it's a game that is not forgotten and is okay to start even today, also there has been moments where genshin lore is mentioned or shown in symbolism, very rarely.
If you could see me right now, you'd see me standing up and clapping!!! lmao This video is incredible and the editing is also very very good. I loved it from beginning to end. You really did a great job
I don't play ToT but I got recommended this vid, and I have to say for all the downsides you mentioned, none of them are specific to ToT but is rather how the joshimuke game industry runs as a whole. Short gacha/event times for the FOMO, stupid pity systems (I've played games where your pity resets for every single banner so Nothing carries over), and just all round predatory behavior is just. run of the mill in joshimuke games at this point. I think a comparison with Hoyo games is inevitable considering their shared developer but a comparison against other games with the same genre would really put this into perspective much better. Great video though!
I've been getting into tears of Themis lately (even though I'm probably aromantic lol, I just really like seeing their relationships evolve) and I imagine that part of the reason it isn't as big is because compared to other titles, the game just seems to naturally be *made* to have this smaller reach, seen in the language settings for example, I am Brazilian and learned English by myself during my childhood but I can't really recommend the game to my friends since they can't speak English which affects reach, I'm sure they would love the game but it was made to have a small dedicated audience and I'd say it succeeded at that
I agree. ToT did do a good job building up the relationships and establish the dynamics. The game doesn’t have a big cast so the individual characters’ depths are explored so much more. It’s really lovely :3
i played the game since its release but had to drop it after reaching level 35 bcus of the gacha system. i was 12 pulls away from nabbing luke's shape of you card but it ended and it got me messed up lol. 3 weeks ago i came back out of curiousity and managed to get the damn card through the return banner with the help of the additional s-chips* they give to you when you come back. safe to say that "return banner thing" healed me of 3 years of grief for not getting that damn ed sheeran card 😂
As much as I’d like to expand my content, I don’t play the game. I don’t even know how to download it. I only really make vids about games I play and intend to stick around in the long run. Plus, life’s super busy for me rn. My attention are required elsewhere :3
@@mirratheartist If you search on TH-cam you can literally find the way to do it, it takes very less time to Setup but the download process takes a lot of time despite being only 6GBs because it's an English patched JP version of the game, basically the game is only available in CN and JP servers now, but due to the English Patch you can play it. Either way I get that you don't have enough time but if you do ever have time then do play it since the game is fully completed.
Another thing I really like about TOT are the mini events and how varied they can be. Like the flip & match events, the slide puzzle events (although i HATED those), the sudoku events (which funfact, actually taught me HOW to play sudoku), the cooking trials events with tabby the cat (who had its entrance through another mini event a few years ago where the cleaning robot goes missing!), and most recently the added number tile sliding events I also remember 3 years ago there was a halloween event where you harvest pumpkins! There’s a lot of types of games you can play through the mini events and the badges that come with some of them are also very fun to collect. I dont see too many people who talk about them though so I thought I’d leave this appreciation comment for them here
Im so happy to see someone make a video talking about tot, it's sad that tot so overlooked in terms of hoyo games! (I agree with your points on the small community, but I also like being part bigger communities such as genshin's for how easily accessible analyses and explanations are) I haven't played it in a bit but every time I take a break I always come back to it (i always need more luke)
honestly for my tip as a f2p in this game for 3 years now, DONT EVER SPEND MORE THAN 30-40 pulls on a banner unless u rlly want the card or you’ll emd up wasting it and not seeing that pity for a long time
i absolutely LOVE tears of themis. the game feeds me so well and i spend money into the game willingly instead of begrudgingly. the quality is good, the writing is nice, the pity system is nice, and everything reruns. i don't feel like i am missing out on anything and the game is so chill. i love love LOVE this game. been playing it since april this year and i can imagine myself playing this game long term. more people should play this game for real.
atlast tot have eng server and and receives patches, while GGZ stopped updating, after which they updated the global server 2 YEARS LATER, and a month later they announced the server's closure.
Well, people would often talk about those game because they’re relevant to the Honkai universe. ToT definitely (and somewhat unfortunately) isn’t part of that conversation
YASS I SAW TEARS OF THEMIS AND I CLICK YAYY Edit: also the pity thing, personally I like it cause then I know I’m guaranteed to get my specific cards that I want/ I know the pity for the specific bannners :) ex: me pulling on 1 and sec B day and not getting both of them? No problemo my pity will stay the same until I’m ready to get both of them again :) that’s just my personal opinion
Tears of Themis was my first ever hoyo game i've played, i knew about it's existence way before than genshin or hi3, so this game has a special place in my heart than any other hoyo game (i had to drop it a few times, but it always stuck to me in the end). a few times i had hardship with keeping up with the game but now learned my pace, so i enjoy it even more now. Thank you for the video!!
Honestly I haven’t touched ToT in a while considering I found the mechanics confusing and it took up a lot of space on my iPad. But I still read some of Artem’s card stories from time to time (he’s my fav)!! I’m actually looking to get a commission soon of Artem’s dragon outfit with my oc version of the Mc!!! Tears of Themis is a forgotten treasure for me, and I still read the cards just because of how precious Artem is 😊
To be honest i forgot about Tears of Themis that technically Luke is dead in my gameplay (cause I didnt play that far into the chapter for it to be revealed if he died or not).
YES YES Finally!! As a ToT player I've been waiting for someone to shine a light on to Tears Of Themis. Such a wonderful game despite being so small. Thank you!
The sad thing is that HoYoLAB doesn’t have a game tab for tot, yet the game has a daily check in, I would definitely like to see a tab for the players HoYoLAB profile I have two tot accounts, one under my HoYoLAB account and the other under Twitter.
Tears of Themis content 🎉. I'll be waiting (im)patiently for the characters analysis bc I love those kinds of content. But regarding the standard SSR in event banner, I wouldn't say you lose if you get standard SSR, because the pity doesn't reset. I would just say I get something extra when pulling for the event banner. The only time you might lose on a banner is when there's 2MLs card running in the same event banner, which means 50/50 chance. You still get the limited event card, but it might or might not be the ML of your choice. I don't remember if there's a guarantee bc I haven't pulled on those banner. And also rotation banner where the rate up is 2 MLs cards will be SSR (one of them is likely to be an event card and another a standard card) and the other 2 will be SR. When hitting pity for SSR, you will get one of the featured SSR, but it depends whether you want the specific card instead of the other one if you feel like you are losing or winning on that banner.
The banners are waaay too complicated imo. I just assume that when you invest a bunch into a banner, you’d want a featured card or just a specific one usually. So most of the time, if you get another card, it could be considered a loss 😅 You might have to wait for a while because I haven’t even read every card story yet 🥲
@@mirratheartist I also don't know all the details for the banner but I'm sure you'll get a good grasp on it. Just don't spend any tears or schips on permanent banner and know your risk when pulling for 2 feature SSR banners and you're good to go. There's also SSS and some other banners but you'll see them later. Explaining it in the comment section might make it more confusing. I'm just happy to see a content for ToT. The community is small but we're just chilling and simping 😆
I don’t think Tears of themis is forgotten at all.. it still has a pretty big following, just not as big as the other hoyo games. The actual forgotten hoyo games are GGZ.. though I guess we’re talking about games that are still in service globally
Well, it’s just my POV. Whenever ppl talk about multiple Hoyo games, they mostly talk about games in the Honkai universe and ToT definitely isn’t part of that
@@mirratheartist Well yeah, because most MiHoYo games are action RPGs. Tears of Themis is a completely different genre and targets a very specific audience that's quite separate from all their other games. Of course people who mainly play action RPGs are likely not going to be familiar with an otome game. This doesn't mean Tears of Themis is "forgotten." If you ask otome game fans, Tears of Themis is very popular and it's one of the most prominent CN otome mobile gacha games. I've seen many who play Tears of Themis but have never touched Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, or any other MiHoYo game.
As a veteran in this game and a massive whale I have every single artem card in game. I’m not sure if I should be proud or not but I love to collect his cards. The problem this game has is the amount of schips and reruns at unexpected timings. Events may seem rushed but if u mainly want rewards I would suggest skipping the story till the last day for certain parts and then reading it all.
So far the best limited event I would say was the recent dragon event it added a refreshing gameplay as well as story that had a mix of fantasy that are hard to find in other games. Simply put I enjoy this game 😅
Figure out it would be Themis, because what else would it be, since Honkai 2/GGZ is still living in some countries for some reason. And what do you think so the game would become as popular as Love and Deepspace right now?
I doubt the game could be as big. Although LaDs revenue figures have shown that otome games can be extremely successful, they’re also innovative in the genre, being a 3D game and all. One appeal I’ve found in ToT has always been the community. I’ve seen how bad big fandoms could be from both inside and outside, so I doubt it’s ideal
@mirratheartist I wonder what could hoyo do to improve themis so it could give more revenue compared to what it is now. The art looks so great already, and I wish the mystery solving stuff could also make it to the other hoyo games, maybe as an exploration gameplay to games like hsr or genshin.
as someone who played otome games and even religiously played mystic messenger (at its peak), i can say that this game is really good. the art, the story, amazing. however, gameplay isn't for me, gacha is horrendous, and i just don't have the time for it anymore, let alone can't play it on my phone because for some reason it eats up my ram. i really want to enjoy this game 😢
ohh Tears of Themis video, on youtube? Absolutely everyone talking about Hoyo games never mentions even ToT. I played until recently actively, it was my emotional helper and just such a good game with a fun community.
Not only Tears of Themis is forgotten by the 6 out of 10 people from the Hoyoverse community, but Houkai Gakuen 2 was forgotten because its global servers and its Korean servers shutted down, Houkai Gakuen 1 was forgotten because it hasn't been updated since around 2015, and FlyMe2TheMoon was forgotten because it hasn't been updated since 2012, and 3 of these games are now lost media, while 2 of the 3 early Hoyoverse games were already found!
PROUD TO KNOW THIS GAMEE :DD i don't play it though bc im dumb and i suck at detective stuff LMAO BUT IF I WAS SMART THIS GAME WOULD HAVE MY LIFE IN A CHOKEHOLD!! this fandom is so lucky actually bc i've never seen drama abt it 😭😭
Ikr 😭 I love GGZ but I'm sad it's unlikely for there to be a remake or put back in global... Well, I mean maybe they could hire me, since I translate stuff for the cutscene interpreter for ggz lol
You better be sorry for showing the video of my love dying during his 8 years (tot is so underrated PEOPLE PLAY IT MORE. ITS FULL OF HOT MEN. WHO DOESNT WANT HOT MEN WHO ACTUALLY PROPOSE TO YOU)
@@Hye_I_edit At least HoYo doesn’t actively make every detail of Yanqing absolutely miserable. Like someone pointed out that Luke is bloodtype O, meaning he’s a potential donor but he could only receive blood from other O blood types 😭
I've played tot after knowing it was the same company that made genshin. Honestly, I haven't played in year now because I felt burnt out playing dailyyy since release but I'll see if I get back to it in the future. Still miss Luke :((
Guys I haven’t played since spring 2022 or idk there was some summer event with an island and the only question I’ve had since then is did Luke die? 😭😭(😂) it’s been 3 years
Depends on whether it’s his route, or main story. Main story’s time pass isn’t accurate to real time though, it hasn’t been 3 years. As for his route, it’s somewhat resolved?
I don't think the game is forgotten. It just doesn't have big targeted audiences. For an otome games, I think the game is actually doing pretty well commercially
I'm so happy someone is talking about this game!! And I feel u, as a Luke enjoyer I only roll when his banners come out, so I save my pulls until then. BUT STILL 5star standard cards ruin my motivation! Because, why do I need to make effort in saving in each event when it's not garanteed and I can receive the same Vyn card each time!!! 😭😭 (Not hate on Vyn but his standard card comes so much lol)
Despite taking almost 2 years to finally get my first ssr, I find tot really enjoyable 😭 I love romance, but the mystery is what kept me hooked (also Rosa since she's so pretty and fun to play as) Grinding as a f2p is fairly easy since I only focused on Luke. And the games been generous with me on getting limited ssr in less than 40 pulls now after I spend my time with it
I have a love hate relationship with this game, I enjoy the story, characters, and art but the pity system is so fricking stupid and at a certain point, there's not much to do. Also I'm kinda dumb but once I didn't realize they were giving free daily pulls and I missed like 5 free pulls ☠️ Edit: I just saw you say there's too much to do and when you mentioned the wiggle room I AGREE SO BAD. I wish they would just accumulate tries or whatever for events instead of you needing to log in everyday. It's weird there's a simultaneous lack/too much to do but I think it depends on the player and how far they are into the game Edit: Hi, edit again. And you're also so right at the end - I still enjoy the game and think of it fondly even if it has some stuff I don't enjoy. The main thing is because it has a smaller cast, it feels like you can spend more time with your favs and have more emotional moments, which has been a hit or miss for me in Genshin
i think it’s just that most of hoyo’s fanbase prefers 3d games (also why hi3 isn’t as popular as genshin, hsr or even zzz) also, hoyo definitely sells female characters better 😭 besides in hsr where male characters somehow sell the same as female characters if not better
@ of course, i do remember when tot was pretty popular but this was before hsr and zzz dropped. people probably just didn’t like the game mechanics? idk
Pity being 100 and there not being any soft pity so you are pretty consistently going to exactly 100 seems so unheard of. It has happened to me and my friends multiple times. Those odds should never exist
I quit tears of themis after 3 years of playing like i was drained mentally an physically , the autobattles were slow , and getting the ssr you want became impossible through time for me , i ditched the game despite having some hella limited cards but the joy and fun died for me i was simping for artem and i hated when i didnt get his ssr to unlock his stories
This was sorta rushed because I don't want to delay it till my finals lol
For my next upload, I want to do something fun and silly after all the long, and serious vids lately (likely Ovenbreak again)
There won't be much activity at least until December or next year :P
Have a nice day, y'all :3
the reason why im playing this game is because im an ace attorney fan and also an otome fan. ToT is literally a mix of that lol
Perfection 🤭
theres a pun in there somewhere. ace otome? ace otormey??
When you talked about the fact that pity doesn't carry, it actually does but it only carries if the amount of MLs are the same. For example if there is a banner that has all 4 MLs then the pity carries to the next banner that also contains 4 MLs. Other than that I absolutely agree with your other points I've been playing this game since the beta and I'm glad that the community isn't as toxic as other ones.
Honestly, I was simplifying it as much as I could. Even I don’t understand it fully :P
yea one thing i never liked about tot was the convoluted pity system (also 100 pity is too much imo for the amount of chips they give). one reason i quit playing after 2nd anniv was because i got sick of hitting hard pity almost every banner, combined with the fact that the pity carry over is so inconsistent
Yeah, the merchandise in this game is definitely way more consistent than other games lol
This is so true bcs to get the latest Luke card I had to go full hard pity and do the 90 pulls
this game is definitely popular that i couldn't book myself in their pop up cafe 🥲 it's like fighting for concert tickets
JUDYDOLL COLLAB AND I DIDNT KNOW?
@@mirratheartist they have shirts, scrunchies, umbrella, pj's, and baseball caps as far as I know but they're more on the homewear side than Genshin's and Star Rail's streetstyle fashion wears
@@finalityi yeah It was last year's collab I think? I got Vyn's set and surprisingly, the blush, eyeshadow pallette and the lip mud fits me so well
@@mirratheartist but in ToT , you can copy any ML's clothing style with clothes you can find online so there's really no use for them to release a clothing line
As soon as I saw the thumbnail I had to watch. It's so rare to see Tears of Themis content so this is definitely a joy to see. The video is really well done and not too long. The brief summary for the game is well thought out and very interesting to watch. (^v^) b
Thank you. I’m glad you enjoyed it 😊🫶
FRRR
I'm definitely shocked this game is still alive. I haven't really seen much gameplay of it, but I'm guessing it's forgotten because it doesn't have the same 3D and general polish of any other Hoyo game. Overall I'm glad it's alive though since I understand it's a particular game for people who enjoy it (and not that it's bad, it just lacks overall wide appeal).
Its very nature is already niche. The games been pretty good at what it’s intended to give to the players :3
I think its just because this game seems to have 0 marketing
Like for Real I played every other Hoyo game they have available at least for a bit and enjoyed content of it and I never got any ad, any video about ToT
This video is litteraly first in my life I ve seen about it
@@Charlett Correct. ToT is barely marketed by Hoyo. They are way busier with HSR, Genshin and now ZZZ. They don't seem to really care much about promoting ToT. It's a game that's probably just in the backlog now and there isn't really much expectation to derive profit from it.
Omg a tot video in this day and age? I thought it was just me and 6 other ppl who still play this game🤧 great video thanks for making this !!!
Hehe :3
As both genshin and tot player, thank you so much for making this video. This honestly made me a bit emotional…

TOT VIDEO IN THE YEAR OF OUR LORD 2024 this is so hype
omg crazy to see tot content in the 3 years of playing since its global cbt release 😭 i remember getting into this game when i saw hoyoverse had an otome game in china (plus the ace attorney elements) and freaked out when i saw it coming for global. i agree with the major events and i get so busy for that month, i missed finishing it and get all rewards LOL it is kind of sad to see the game not getting the same hype as others but honestly, i'm glad they still cater the story in the game and the events plus heck, they go crazy for the merchandise like the collab with judydoll for fans. my heart was so happy to get the mail about getting a physical letter for second anniversary and they prioritized the old players that are still playing :'D also winning giveaways has been so much fun since its the only time i get my hands on official hyv merch without spending haha
this game has my heart so much since release i love seeing the relationship developments from meeting them at the start and now getting engaged. i could never see myself stop playing anytime soon TT
edit: miscounted the years ^^;;
The game’s quality is certainly amazing and the story too.
I WILL PATIENTLY WAIT FOR VYN RUCHTER CHARACTER ANALYSATION!!!!
That would actually take awhile because December is finals month for me. Also, I haven’t read every card story yet 🫠
They just want to keep complaining when TOT already accepted their accountability about that event
i ve been playing this game from day one..safe to say...i cried.....
( ´・・)ノ(・・ `˶)
Once that intro song played I was jump-started😭 BUT TOT CONTENT IN THIS DAY AND AGE? Slay✨
Tot is definitely one of those semi laid back games that i enjoy ❤
I am sucker for tot art cards especially this year (in china/tw servers!) They are so gorgeous 🥹
I hope that tot continues to improve and grow, even if we are unpopular i just know there is a dedicated team who genuinely cares about this game and its community!
I feel you. The start can be a bit overwhelming. Experiencing the stories is really amazing imo 😊
I’m glad you’re having fun with the game. I agree that the community is super chill. We’re all too busy simping to start any big drama lol
Great video, the beginning was really strong with that Vyn meme, amazing! The person who made it must have the best sense of comedy 😏
But in all seriousness, I love the points you made. Take it from someone who has seen small fandoms blow up and burn before, I wouldn't change our community for the world! ^^
Agree. :3
So many times now, I’ve had to remind myself that they aren’t real and it actually makes me feel a bit empty inside :(
I’d totally date any one of them off they were real, even Rosa.
(and I think like 5 normal tears?)
I will always be perpetually salty that it wasn't added in the global version
Welp… that’s interesting 0-0
I REMEMBER. I used to play in tw and was hoping they'd release it in global but its been a year or two...
I've been playing tot pretty much since the beginning thanks to a sponsor and I like it a lot! loved the video, I can tell you put a lot of passion into it! super looking forward to that character analysis video :D
Thank you for the comment 🥺🫶
Thank u for this, been playing for so long but sadly its rarely talked abt
Tears of Themis mentioned 🗣️🗣️🗣️
I always remember when a player said that they stop playing the game on their post on tot hoyolab, someone reply "you're free to stop" without being so mean. And i like "wow, this fandom is so peaceful, no meanie player, no toxic" and that makes me love tears of themis.
Like another day i found out a post in X said "if you're a ToT player, you are my friend" and i found that are very heartwarming and that makes me happy, we're just fangirl-ing together, being sad together, talking how hard some of the mini games and how we lost in our gacha. Maybe because most of the player are girls and how girls are easy to vibe each other (it's not like boys are not) and that makes the fandom are peaceful
I'm hiautus on playing the game now, but no metter how long i stop play the games or how much it takes my phone memories, but it won't make me uninstall the game and one day i will open the game, waiting untill the update finish, and Davis will announce me how long i've been off and Vyn will greet me as usual, i will enjoy the stories while I'm snacking on my bed. Thanks Hoyo for making this game
Ironically, Tears of Themis was the reason why i was introduced to other games by Mihoyo so, I don't think it's forgotten.
Well, I don’t think many Hoyo players would be the same. I did a survey once and about the same amount of people played other games Hoyo games before ToT was the same as the amount of those who didn’t. So, I’d say when listing Hoyo games, most wouldn’t be likely to know about ToT
@@mirratheartist True, but I did enjoy this game nonetheless. Mihoyo even released another book about it too with more artwork.

I really love the game but I have to miss some events since I end up deleting the game when i feel tempted to spend money (when it first came out i spent a lot for my standards, so I'm trying to not fall back on that).

Thank you 🥺🫶
Ahhh love to see someone actually talking about this game!!
Sometimes talking breaks can make playing more enjoyable :3
downloaded the game 3 yrs ago bc of luke, stayed bc oh my god the entire lore and the story is so extensive and interesting

Still runs ads to this day *immediately inserts a ZZZ ad*
I’m guessing they didn’t invest in putting out ads for the game, I’m sure a ton of people would love this game
Thank you for the feedback. My knowledge on the gaming space isn’t great. I only play a few games and may hear about some big games here and there :P
ToT is the only Hoyo game I've never played. I had no idea what it was about until I saw this video. Thank you!
You’re welcome :3
It’s fine, I’m aromantic and I also play this game
I play as a wingman/woman more though rather than self-inserting LOL
That Rei commenter thing is so true- they even sometimes comment on my other posts even though they don’t play genshin! They seem so sweet!
We all love Rei here 🥰
i played the game since its release but had to drop it after reaching level 35 bcus of the gacha system. i was 12 pulls away from nabbing luke's shape of you card but it ended and it got me messed up lol.
3 weeks ago i came back out of curiousity and managed to get the damn card through the return banner with the help of the additional s-chips* they give to you when you come back. safe to say that "return banner thing" healed me of 3 years of grief for not getting that damn ed sheeran card 😂
not the ed sheeran card lmaooo 😭😭
You did not just call Luke freaking Ed Sheeran 🗿
You should talk about Gun Girl Z or the other name it has Honkai Gakuen 2, that was MIHOYO's first big succesful project
A video about ToT?!!! I´m watching this right away
Another thing I really like about TOT are the mini events and how varied they can be.
Like the flip & match events, the slide puzzle events (although i HATED those), the sudoku events (which funfact, actually taught me HOW to play sudoku), the cooking trials events with tabby the cat (who had its entrance through another mini event a few years ago where the cleaning robot goes missing!), and most recently the added number tile sliding events
I also remember 3 years ago there was a halloween event where you harvest pumpkins!
There’s a lot of types of games you can play through the mini events and the badges that come with some of them are also very fun to collect.
I dont see too many people who talk about them though so I thought I’d leave this appreciation comment for them here
I agree that the mini games are really fun ^^
i instantly recognised the pfp. i could never forget tears of themis. its sad it dont get enough attention
1st. This is SO coollllll!! How do people not know abt this??
2nd. New sub alertttttt!!! And I WILL be playing this game😻😻😻
I hope you have a good time ^^
Tears of themis is lumeine's secret fanfiction in her head.
I would love to see ur character analysis on vyn😝 hes my fave
That will take a bit since I haven’t even read all the cards yet 😅
@@mirratheartist i see, no worries! ^^
wow havent seen a tears of themis video in ages now
honestly for my tip as a f2p in this game for 3 years now, DONT EVER SPEND MORE THAN 30-40 pulls on a banner unless u rlly want the card or you’ll emd up wasting it and not seeing that pity for a long time
I'll be honest, I only know ToT existed because I have a Hoyolab account and visit it fir check-ins for other Hoyo games
Same honestly. I first went into the game with zero knowledge and now I’m here :P
i absolutely LOVE tears of themis. the game feeds me so well and i spend money into the game willingly instead of begrudgingly. the quality is good, the writing is nice, the pity system is nice, and everything reruns. i don't feel like i am missing out on anything and the game is so chill. i love love LOVE this game. been playing it since april this year and i can imagine myself playing this game long term. more people should play this game for real.
Agree lol :3
atlast tot have eng server and and receives patches, while GGZ stopped updating, after which they updated the global server 2 YEARS LATER, and a month later they announced the server's closure.
Even people remember GGZ or honkai gauken litrealy forgot about tears of themis
Well, people would often talk about those game because they’re relevant to the Honkai universe. ToT definitely (and somewhat unfortunately) isn’t part of that conversation
Ggz is relevant in China and the beginning of the Honkai verse
YASS I SAW TEARS OF THEMIS AND I CLICK YAYY
Edit: also the pity thing, personally I like it cause then I know I’m guaranteed to get my specific cards that I want/ I know the pity for the specific bannners :) ex: me pulling on 1 and sec B day and not getting both of them? No problemo my pity will stay the same until I’m ready to get both of them again :) that’s just my personal opinion
Of course, the Gacha has its ups and downs. It’s a double edged sword, sort of
as soon as i saw the thumbnail i knew it was luke LMFAOO
Tears of Themis was my first ever hoyo game i've played, i knew about it's existence way before than genshin or hi3, so this game has a special place in my heart than any other hoyo game (i had to drop it a few times, but it always stuck to me in the end). a few times i had hardship with keeping up with the game but now learned my pace, so i enjoy it even more now. Thank you for the video!!
😊🫶
I learned about this game thi year.... in january...
I started playing around May :P
As a day 1 player I’m always sooo excited to see new ToT video in my recommendations!!! Thank you for your work🤎🩵💜💛❤️
Thank you for the comment. I’m just making stuff I want to see but hasn’t really exist yet :3
HoYo just loves poking the “death flag stick” at the boy T^T
YES YES Finally!! As a ToT player I've been waiting for someone to shine a light on to Tears Of Themis. Such a wonderful game despite being so small. Thank you!
The sad thing is that HoYoLAB doesn’t have a game tab for tot, yet the game has a daily check in, I would definitely like to see a tab for the players HoYoLAB profile
I have two tot accounts, one under my HoYoLAB account and the other under Twitter.
out of topic but U JUST MOTIVATE ME TO PLAY ToT AGAIN
So most of the time, if you get another card, it could be considered a loss 😅
You might have to wait for a while because I haven’t even read every card story yet 🥲
I’m jealous. I like Artem the most but Vyn keeps haunting me. And I like the dragon event too, it was pretty fun
Tbh, I'd like that the TOT fanbase are smaller than other hoyo fanbases (not trying to gatekeep tho). I find more peace in the community, ngl 😭😭
I’d gatekeep if it means protecting what we have already /hj
game that made me like CN dub (i have never tried it before). Now I appreciate 3 languages for voiceovers, EN, JP and CN in equal measures O_O
as someone who played otome games and even religiously played mystic messenger (at its peak), i can say that this game is really good. the art, the story, amazing. however, gameplay isn't for me, gacha is horrendous, and i just don't have the time for it anymore, let alone can't play it on my phone because for some reason it eats up my ram. i really want to enjoy this game 😢
Understandable. Most people play games to have fun, and when they can’t play, they just take a break. We’ve all got a life to live :3
ohh Tears of Themis video, on youtube? Absolutely everyone talking about Hoyo games never mentions even ToT. I played until recently actively, it was my emotional helper and just such a good game with a fun community.
Wait the game is still going onn?? I played it ages ago when it first launched. That's crazy
Yep. Still here. I’ve only been playing for less than a year 😚
Not only Tears of Themis is forgotten by the 6 out of 10 people from the Hoyoverse community, but Houkai Gakuen 2 was forgotten because its global servers and its Korean servers shutted down, Houkai Gakuen 1 was forgotten because it hasn't been updated since around 2015, and FlyMe2TheMoon was forgotten because it hasn't been updated since 2012, and 3 of these games are now lost media, while 2 of the 3 early Hoyoverse games were already found!
PROUD TO KNOW THIS GAMEE :DD i don't play it though bc im dumb and i suck at detective stuff LMAO BUT IF I WAS SMART THIS GAME WOULD HAVE MY LIFE IN A CHOKEHOLD!! this fandom is so lucky actually bc i've never seen drama abt it 😭😭
Well, we’re all too busy simping to start any drama lol 🤭
YIPPEEEEE FINALLY TOT CONTENT
Similar to most of them don’t know that Honkai Impact 3rd even exist
It’s just my opinion, but I feel like people who dive into the Honkai universe lore would eventually learn of Hi3rd
Forgotten no no it’s Gaga that’s forgotten
Nah the actual forgotten Hoyo games are flyme2themoon and gun girls Z, they need to re-release gun girls Z with an actual working translation
Ikr 😭
I love GGZ but I'm sad it's unlikely for there to be a remake or put back in global...
Well, I mean maybe they could hire me, since I translate stuff for the cutscene interpreter for ggz lol
Ggz popular in China tho
@@cakegood I know but that’s it just China and Japan no where else
TOT was our favorite game. It kind of still is.
You better be sorry for showing the video of my love dying during his 8 years (tot is so underrated PEOPLE PLAY IT MORE. ITS FULL OF HOT MEN. WHO DOESNT WANT HOT MEN WHO ACTUALLY PROPOSE TO YOU)
I’m so sorry. I love the baby too 🥺🫶
HoYo always finds an excuse to hurt him 😭
@ bro is TOTs punch in bag like Yanqing
@@Hye_I_edit At least HoYo doesn’t actively make every detail of Yanqing absolutely miserable. Like someone pointed out that Luke is bloodtype O, meaning he’s a potential donor but he could only receive blood from other O blood types 😭
TRUE- Also RIP Luke my baby didn't deserve #stoplukehate
I still play ToT cause I’m a simp for Luke lol
Well.. it's not apple to apple if you compare it to other hoyo games, their market audience is different
It’s not that big of a deal, honestly. I just see people bring up how the rating in CN was changed, nothing more :3
I've played tot after knowing it was the same company that made genshin. Honestly, I haven't played in year now because I felt burnt out playing dailyyy since release but I'll see if I get back to it in the future. Still miss Luke :((
Guys I haven’t played since spring 2022 or idk there was some summer event with an island
and the only question I’ve had since then is
did Luke die? 😭😭(😂) it’s been 3 years
Depends on whether it’s his route, or main story. Main story’s time pass isn’t accurate to real time though, it hasn’t been 3 years. As for his route, it’s somewhat resolved?
I love tears of the themis 😭😭😭😭😭
I don't think the game is forgotten. It just doesn't have big targeted audiences. For an otome games, I think the game is actually doing pretty well commercially
THEY FORGOT MY BLADE RERUN
Uhm. Wrong game bud
I feel you. I love Artem but Vyn keeps haunting me like “coming early with a standard “ jump scare. I like Vyn too but Artem comes first
Despite taking almost 2 years to finally get my first ssr, I find tot really enjoyable 😭 I love romance, but the mystery is what kept me hooked (also Rosa since she's so pretty and fun to play as) Grinding as a f2p is fairly easy since I only focused on Luke. And the games been generous with me on getting limited ssr in less than 40 pulls now after I spend my time with it
Wish you luck on your pulls 🍀
I have a love hate relationship with this game, I enjoy the story, characters, and art but the pity system is so fricking stupid and at a certain point, there's not much to do.
Also I'm kinda dumb but once I didn't realize they were giving free daily pulls and I missed like 5 free pulls ☠️
Edit: I just saw you say there's too much to do and when you mentioned the wiggle room I AGREE SO BAD. I wish they would just accumulate tries or whatever for events instead of you needing to log in everyday. It's weird there's a simultaneous lack/too much to do but I think it depends on the player and how far they are into the game
Edit: Hi, edit again. And you're also so right at the end - I still enjoy the game and think of it fondly even if it has some stuff I don't enjoy. The main thing is because it has a smaller cast, it feels like you can spend more time with your favs and have more emotional moments, which has been a hit or miss for me in Genshin
I saw that many people were feeling the same about the events. Events can feel repetitive, and at the same time overwhelming
i think it’s just that most of hoyo’s fanbase prefers 3d games (also why hi3 isn’t as popular as genshin, hsr or even zzz)
also, hoyo definitely sells female characters better 😭 besides in hsr where male characters somehow sell the same as female characters if not better
Hey, gamers are people and people are inconsistent sometimes :P
@ of course, i do remember when tot was pretty popular but this was before hsr and zzz dropped. people probably just didn’t like the game mechanics? idk
Pity being 100 and there not being any soft pity so you are pretty consistently going to exactly 100 seems so unheard of. It has happened to me and my friends multiple times. Those odds should never exist
Welp, it’s Gacha, it sucks and they could just invent whatever system they want :v
thanks for youtube leading me here lolol
TOT MENTIONED YOOOOOOOOOOO
Hehe. Hello :3
