I was really sad when Jason Biggs was replaced by Seth Green (can't remember why Jason left, I think it was something to do with him having a child)... the writers' excuse in the series was "Leo sustained injury to his throat"... but Leo was stabbed in the stomach by Shredder and was in a coma... not stabbed in the throat.
I'm not sure why he left either, but I remember it being that he was fired over his controversial tweets, or him turning his focus to Orange is the New Black and wanting to be in more serious projects. Again I'm not sure. But he was a way better Leonardo than Seth Green (no offense to Green, but I prefer Jason's Leo).

I distinctly remember people saying on Turtlepedia that he was having a baby and that there was something particularly difficult with it... Guess that might have been a cover-up for the kids of the show? 🤷♀️😂 It's rather weird that he got fired because a few people got offended, though... he was a very talented actor and he has the right to free speech. I very much doubt that he was inciting violence or any actual genuine hate speech.
